**** The Official Chinese Phones Thread ****

Just setting my x8 pro max up, first impressions very good. Is the included cable capable of 100w charging does anyone know? I still need to buy a fast charger!

Like a few others, I grabbed the X8 Pro Max on the last official day of the offer price. Came to about £367 with a 90w charger, with some cashback off too.

Always loved the idea of excellent battery life, and have been pleasantly surprised by the camera examples I have seen so far!

Arrived today so looking forward to checking it out over the weekend :)

has anyone actually tried some wireless charging tests on these phones as my redmagic 11 pro only charges at 4 watts 15 and 25 watt charger with charge boost on

I've had the Xiaomi wireless charging stand for a while. It works a treat with anything I've thrown at it. Obviously when I use my Xiaomi phone it uses all the features, like 90W fast charging, and intelligent slow charging over night with a barely audible fan so not to disturb any sleep.

It has a motorised internal back section that positions itself to align with the charging coil of the phone. Even works with the Mrs's isheep phone:D Pretty neat

Red magic phones delisted from 3d mark for cheating

They claim Red magic phones have a custom algorithm that runs in the background and when it detects a 3D Mark benchmark is running, the algorithm tells the phone to quickly overclock itself just for the test, this causes the phone to get very hot and draw a lot more power and inflate benchmarks

3D Mark also suggests owners of red magic phones should avoid running 3D Mark as they measured the external temperature of the phones going over 50c which could not just damage the phone but also burn your hands

I've been using the plug/cable from my Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G whatever it was. Seems fine fast charging.

Just got confirmation that old phone has been traded and my £59.99 + £30 extra will be refunded in next 5 days. So this phone has been cheap as chips and I love it so far.

my friend's got the redmagic pro 11, so i've just asked him about these OC modes
apparently the diablo mode can be manually selected if wanting to run at this super OC mode for other apps/games...so, whilst it auto-selects the diablo mode for 3dmark, i don't really think it can be called cheating per-se as it remains a user-selectable mode
running diablo mode on 3dmark will show how much the phone performance can be pushed to

(and also good for warming hands in the winter lol)

how you getting on with it?
i've been eyeing to X8 Pro, (better size for me). for the money it seems a hell of a lot of phone.
i have a samsung a51 and was looking at the new A57, but the price really kills it with samsung, £200 more for much less phone. the only thing i think i'd miss is One UI, maybe the camera?
did anyone else move from samsung, is there much to miss?

so had my first annoyance with mine last night. 2 weeks ago when I went out I had no issues with camera photos and didn't take any videos but last night in similar surroundings I recorded some videos and they were god damn awful. Thought it was the phone cover or some dust so went outside and cleaned lenses. Went back in and awful. It's really bad at videos in dark/club scenery. I was recording whilst someone else was on a iphone or samsung and my god the difference was huge.

I don't really care that much, I just thought it would at least be in focus all time.

I moved from an 8 month old s24 to the poco f8 pro
Sold my s24 for £265 and my pococost £267 so it was basically cost neutral

Nothing to miss on the Samsung. I've also disabled/deleted most of the stock xiaomi hyperos apps and using the stock android apps...so there has been no ads I've seen

My xiaomi has a better chip, more ram and storage and a much better battery life.
The Samsung has a marginally better screen and better camera tuning (this can be fixed on the poco by using a gcam port)

I'm looking at replacing my google pixel 9 pro as the battery continues to deteriorate - every time I think I've made my mind up though, I find out about another (often from the same manufacturer). So far I've gone from oppo find X7 (or was it x9?), Oneplus 15, Honor magic8 pro, Poco x8 Pro max and now I've just learned about the Poco F8 pro. If I give one of you some money can you just make the decision for me? :D
