The Official Dell 3007WFP thread (including pictures!)

So what GFX cards on the market at the moment are dual-link DVI capable to drive the resolution.

If my 7800GTX had been, I would have bought one of these like a shot, but the thought of having to shell out on a new graphics card as well makes it too spendy for my wallet.

any x1800 or above card and the 7800 GT/GTX from nvidia (i think)

here we go for the nvidia info from apples site

the ati cards were tested on anandtechs site with the apple 30" monitor

So is that true, that this monitor doesn't have a scalar? You can't drive all your games in 2560x1600, it's ridiculous! What happens if you run at say 1920z1200, does it just put borders round the outside?

All the Apple 6800s and 7800s are dual-link but I don't think the off-the-shelf PC items are.

Would be nice to get some confirmation of this.
In all honestly Rilot I have been advising ppl to check with their card manufacturer as there is a small possibility they may have not setup the card with a dual-link DVI port, even on a reference setup, to save a little money - there are relatively few monitors in the normal consumer market that require such a connector.

As a sweeping generalisation it does look like the X1*** range and the 7800GTXs for sure have the connector - not too sure on the 7800GT...

Hi there

All the X1K series support the resolution or should do and the X1800 definetely 110% will work with this monitor.

7800 GT/GTX should also be fine too. :)

However anything lower specification is unknown, if you want this monitor with a cheap graphics card then get an ATI X1300 to be safe. :)

P.S. They are already selling very quickly!! :D

how long do you reckon you can carry on selling at this price for? Also anychance of knocking a few bob on a this week only? :D

Not a chance, were already a lot cheaper than DELL and even DELL have them on offer at a higher price, eventually both OcUK and DELL will no doubt increase pricing by £100-£200.

Was pretty tempted until I found out about the lack of hardware scaling on this beast :( , Seems like a rather odd decision on Dell's part

words cannot describe how utterly let down and disappointed I am over just the DVI. I was almost ready to trade my 2405.
I sinerely love the other inputs as atm I have my xbox 360 running through via the component.
I also use the other analogue ports and VGA occasionally.

Sounds like dell are either rushing or cutting costs. One things for sure I sure as hell aint buying one.
