The Director is just Bungie's name for the main screen where you choose the missions. Start off at the Tower to pick up some quests and go from there. There's loads to do! If you're on xbox live then feel free to add me.
Thanks for the help again. But do i have to run through a certain amount of time on the game before this becomes available. I literally installed , started game, selected a character and then it puts me straight into the beginning of destiny. If i quit out and try again its the same. Nowhere do i see a map that i can choose anything from. I fully expected to have a choice of playing destiny or taken king or rise of iron. Very Confusing.
I am not at the console at the moment but will definitely look you up tomorrow if your on and i havent stopped being thick by then

You will begin to unlock the different areas of the game as you progress through the story / quests.
Certain areas / levels / sections are locked off to you at the beginning as you are no where near capable of defeating the enemies there (literally - you will do no damage).
The Taken King and Rise of Iron are expansions to the base game as the assumption made at the beginning of each (in terms of gear check) is that you have completed everything that came before. IIRC the first mission of TTK is level 28.
Bear in mind Destiny is a fusion of FPS and RPG elements thus you will find better armour and weapons over time.

you have to play through the game to unlock stuff.
for instance i made a new character, used a spark of light. got them up to 40 and nightstalker wasn't made available. i had to do a quest which was basically several missions to unlock nightstalker.

The Taken King and Rise of iron are additional story missions and content set after the events of vanilla destiny. They are expansion packs, not new games., very much like how WOW has expansions.
You could play rise of iron first, but the story will assume you know all of the lore shown to you in the original game and Taken King, so you'll be playing it in the wrong order.
The game has quests and minimum level requirements which will steer you to do things in the right order.

And yes, you have to do the first bit to get the map up n stuff I think.
There's a few people still playing but most have tailed off into other games now the HM / challenges have been completed.
I am happy to give you a hand (as no doubt would a few others on here), just depends on the time.
On a side note I am re-learning how to move about in the game using L1 to jump. I have TF2 to thank for this.....

Cool, I should probably put some time in and level my Titan, still around 340 light as just haven't really got into this expansion as before.
Any idea if Destiny runs a little smoother on the PS4 Pro, I know there's no GFX upgrade?

I haven't noticed any difference no, still locked at 30fps.
No difference. IIRC Destiny has had no "Pro Patch" thus as far as the game is concerned it is just a PS4.

I'm up for a HM run sometime. If anyone makes a raid, slap my name down. I would even run a NM for the fun if there are new people (noobs ) wanting to run one.

Her WL is only 385 (no exotic swords or raid weapons) so not sure if NM or HM makes more sense. LL is "ok" for HM but I won't have any of my usual weapons (barring perhaps Sleeper). Saying that she does have Hung Jury (God roll), 1K-Yard stare (God roll) and G'Horn (God..)

think everyone is OP for the raid now so DPS should be an issue just getting the bombs thrown i would think
