*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

You've got loads to do but you'll still be a fair way from the end game stuff.

I don't envy people who plan on having 3 characters now.

There is a way to cheat it. Focus on 1 character and get it to 400. Then all the drops that character gets at 400 you can then infuse into your other characters.

e.g. If your Titan is 400 and gets a 400 helmet. Send the helmet to your warlock then infuse it into the warlock helmet.

Focusing on 3 is doing it the long way and for those that don't have jobs, family, social lives, etc.

Oh I know that as that's what I've done since infusion has been able. But you still have to get the other 2 characters to level 40 and then find legendary armour for each slot so that you can infuse. I found it a chore getting my alts to level 20 as it was

Bounties and Dailies give tons of XP which is all you need to level up.

You can get a character to 40 quite easily. I had to do my second hunter a few months back.

The bounties you get of the Iron Lord is it all give double the XP of a normal bounty too and they ware easy to do (archon's forge and patrols, etc).

Then there are daily and the weekly crucible bounty to mix up the chore.

I made the mistake of deleting my warlock and Titan to stop me playing as much and made a 2nd hunter to swap gear. However Hunters right now are getting nerfed when they aren't even OP, with blade dance your lucky to get 2 or 3 kills before dying yet simple to get that many with nova or a smash, etc especially on control.

I still wouldn't want to do it again. Luckily I got to level 20 on my alts before I even finished the missions on Venus due to playing on hard and mixing it with PvP.

Glad I've got 3 characters again though and they are all raid ready.

new meta is interesting, nobody bothers sniping or shotgunning anymore, fusion rifles also aren't being used.

it's mainly a primary meta.

stand out weapons

very short range - sidearm (the last word is useless now because of sidearm dominance)
short range - hand cannons, hawkmoon or palindrome or eyasluna
short to mid range - auto rifles, mainly doctrine, answering chord, genesis chain, suros and haakons hatchet, unbent tree is alright too if you have a good roll
mid range - pulse rifles, hawksaw, spare change, parthian shot, party favor and blind perdition
long range - scout rifles, all of them seem to be pretty good if you have a decent roll

so you need to switch loadouts depending on the map, no longer will you see 1 gun domination.

Due to destiny limited map design, only weapon you will need sidearms + hand cannons :)

taken them 2+ years to go back to hand cannons (nerf thorn) and made sidearm only option :D

i hope destiny 2 will be better, LOL

I just want destiny to open up raids in matchmaking never will happen :(

It would be a horrible experience, you'll get players joining while afk all the time, you'll get abusive players who shout at everyone, players who deliberately try to ruin the run, and so on and on. It's for the best that there's no matchmaking for raids. It's pretty much impossible to guarantee that all 6 strangers will get on well with each other, it's just the way people are. Manually getting a group together acts like a big filter that weeds out the problematic elements.

Games like world of warcraft have matchmaking for raids where the difficulty had to be reduced down to a really basic level where you can ignore all the mechanics and don't even need more than one or two healers out of the five allocated to the raid. And they still fail all the time and every single run has a handful of horrible, abusive and toxic players.

You've also got to think about the language barrier, it's no good having matchmaking for Europe when everyone speaks a different language. If you're in a raid with a bunch of Spanish and Italian guys, you won't know how to coordinate things or tell who goes where and when.

Because for me it would be easier? Like now I haven't finished any older raids let alone new ones I also can't guarantee times I'd be on. I don't belive it wouldn't work at all, yeah you may get 70% raids failing but getting teams via random is plausible other games do it. I tried it via here last time and every one was on new raids or up to certain parts so I couldn't do it really.

I agree with Sonny on this one.. I remember back in the day wasting hours.. and I'm talking 6 - 8 a night.. with randoms from LFG trying to finish VOG and Crota.
Matchmaking would simply make it easier to fail.. just purely because you could end up on a team of 5 people who have no idea what they are doing and wont listen.

Reddit Fireteams is all I use now.. it seems like a great place to meet sensible people, you may get the odd newbie but the odd one is easy to carry through with a baseline experienced team.
I'd highly recommend you check it out :)

I'm back to using Auto rifles pretty much consistantly.. and enjoying the game again.

It seems much easier to pick u p and play without frustration.

+1 to raid matchmaking being horrible. Raids are tough and hard mode especially takes a team that knows their stuff, one weak link and you'll get nowhere.

Maybe if they released an 'easy mode' with increased timers, no revive delay, and reduced rewards it could work.

Only thing I want matchmaking on is Nightfalls.

It wouldn't be easier. The reason why you have never finished a raid is because you are refusing to use the websites I have listed.

The reason why you don't believe it wouldn't work at all is because you have never done them. I have and I can assure you there is no way you would complete any raid with randoms.

Why? because you need voice comms to sort out positions, roles, call out which planet your on (VOG portals), where the conflux is, etc.

with matchmaking you would have 4 people without comms and you talking to some random guy asking why the other 4 morons don't have a mic. You would struggle to do anything more complicated than kill ads.

Think it's bad raiding with a full fireteam with comms and only having 1 or 2 squeakers, well with matchmaking you would have 5 squeakers but only 1 of them has a mic. They would be dying and blaming it on lag, etc rather than them not knowing what they are doing.

Seriously you would never ever get any raid completed, not even on normal mode. All it takes is 1 or 2 people not pulling their weight to drag a whole team down.

Auto rifles still suck tbh.

Palindrome and Eyasluna are the top 2 primaries in the game.

Pulse Rifles are good all rounders but don't excel at anything, especially the blind perdition. Parthian Shot is only good if your can hit headshots every time otherwise it gets outclassed by every other archetype it's too unforgiving. You need a god roll to even consider using it.

Long range is where scouts take over. Mida, Hand of Judgement, Distant Star, Inward lamp, etc.

For trials if your not using NLB or Icebreaker your at a disadvantage when it comes to getting picks. Sidearms is the only special worth using consistently no point using anything else apart from icebreaker. People now just use nades and Skorris mainly.

This meta is truly awful. I can't wait for NLB and Skorris to be nerfed. Then they need to do something about evening up the subclasses. Hunters keep on being nerfed into the ground whilst Warlocks and Titans aren't touched.

Age of Triumph Stream is currently live.

28/03/2017 is the release date for the update.

As predicted the original raids are coming back. New record book with multiple pages to complete (for example the third page is completing all the story stuff from day 1).

:)

EDIT: 390 light for the brought forward raids (includes King's Fall). I assume this is HM. Challenge modes have also been added to raids that didn't have them.

EDIT 2: 400 Mythoclast referenced.... Find out more on the 3rd stream in two weeks time.

EDIT 3: Reference to elemental primaries still being a thing from VoG / CE....

EDIT 4: Sounds pretty cool overall. Bringing everything up to relevance & have some fun.
