*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

Got the chance to play this for a few hours and it's okay but it didn't grab me as much as Titanfall which genuinely felt like it offered something new (although the shine wore off quite fast). I hope Destiny improves, a bit like Diablo 3 since launch, but I read this comparison somewhere else and it sums up my feelings pretty well:

"Halo had epic levels and firefights. The set pieces were fun and memorable and made you feel like a badass when you were successful.

Borderlands had tons of character and humour. Even if the gameplay had its flaws, the game's personality made up for it.

Mass Effect had a cool story and awesome NPCs. You could make some meaningful or at least interesting choices and the trilogy had some fantastic moments.

Destiny borrows the more mundane or core concepts of these games, but not the ones I just described. It's basically like playing Borderlands, minus the laughs and references, with a shiny Halo/Mass Effect skin on top. It literally feels like a game we've all played half a dozen times, except this time it's on PS4 so it's prettier. I'm not hating on the game, just saying why so many people don't seem too smitten with it."

I reckon if you are fortunate enough to have the time and organised friends then it would be a lot more fun (but that does apply to pretty much any online game).

did not like borderlands and halo.

Mass effect was cool though

Can anyone explain what all those codes redeemed on the but for website give you? And also, if anyone else has the digital guardian edition, how do you get the extra vanguard stuff and everything else?

Not halo. Thats a generic FPS game.

nothing special.

even the generic COD series edges it IMO :)

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Destiny does have good music...

About to get my game on again. Been on the homebrew which for me may as well enable god mode as I become a gaming genius. Will have it finished within the hour if I can find/see the controller....

mmm I'd already paused a bit after watching a few recent lets plays and not being that wowed

about reading some of these comments I think I've passed over to the "not going to buy"

pity as have nothing really to play on my PS4 that I was kindly bought as a present

So it explains why no review copy was sent out before the release date. They knew the game would be average and cashed in with the hype before reviews came out. Good marketing strategy I say.

Servers weren't switch on, that was the reason why there were no reviews:rolleyes: Copies were sent!

Wow £54.99 for this (i bought the digital copy thinking they would take my £20 gift card but nope)...its pretty and all but its soooo...how shall i put it, unimaginative?

uninteractive may be a better term. All you do is get plonked down in the same old map with the same old mission...go here, defend "guilty spark" while waves of enemies attack.

It just seems lazy. There is no character development/story development past your ghost/guilty spark, no change in mission structure, no need to progress past the "OMG LOOOTZ". The gameplay mechanics are fine in enough themselves but if I didnt want story and a universe that sucked me in I would play counter strike or something.

I expected something akin to mass effect or say Halo especially with it being Bungie. But no we just have Bordelands with pretty graphics and cruddy story/characters. I mean there is literally no interaction with other characters NPC or otherwise apart from dancing at them.

Planetside 2 in my opinion achieved everything Bungie set out to do but way way better in my opinion and that's free to play.

Two questions really stand out for me on this...How on earth is this the most expensive game ever produced, dwarfing even GTA5's budget, where did the money go?

Secondly how the hell is this game meant to have a 10 year life span? the marketing has been extremely misleading suggesting a massive universe to explore, when in fact it is just medium sized instanced areas.

Does not help that I haven't been able to play all night as the servers keep going down and I get kicked back to the lobby losing whatever little progression Ive made.

Level 4 and never played halo or anything remotely like this game before. Guess that means i will enjoy it more? Dont really understand the storyline though but the game looks and feels amazing. Brilliant physics.

So it seems like the general feedback is mixed and that it's a bit more fun playing campaign with friends.
But what if you can't play for a while and all your friends are further ahead in the story, does that mean you play solo making it boring or can you team up with randoms who have just started?
