*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

So far them really enjoying this, it reminds me of boarderlands which i also enjoyed. But i do agree it has been over hyped but at the same time its still a good game. Which should only get better over time with the dlc coming out.

I never played the beta and never had any expectations of this game, so maybe that's why I'm enjoying it more than some judging from some of the comments here.

I wish I'd never played the beta as I'm LITERALLY just playing the same missions again :(

Ps3 -> ps4 free upgrade is up now guys , just started the download through the psn app.
Will be interesting to see the difference to the ps3 version I have been playing :)

I was all for buying it 8am on day of release (after dropping kids off for school) - but I'd watched some vids the night before and wasn't totally convinced so decided to wait awhile

even less convinced now :( I was really really looking forward to it too - really enjoyed Halo etc

Gameplay videos never do games justice. Playing Destiny on my 50" Samsung LED looks awesome!

And on the other hand some other ppl i know say its amazing. I think it depends on the person

Yeah, I think the trouble is, one person says it looks **** (more often than not they haven't even played it), then someone else repeats, and then the general consensus is formed. Then the people who are actually enjoying playing, are too busy playing it to post in here!

I'm thoroughly enjoying the PvP stuff, feels a bit more like an older Call of Duty with Domination, and also because you don't have people spamming endless killstreaks :)

Got to level 7 last night, still enjoying it:)

Not had many problems with connection etc. I've been kicked out of the game world once and when invited to a team last night it just wouldn't let me join, but other than that I am impressed with the stability of it!

And I agree with Atlas, the few people who don't like it are on here moaning while everyone else is actually in the game, that's why it seems like a lot of people don't like it!

I have just read that >£300m was spent on this game, come again? I swear it wasn't that long ago £50m being spent on a game was a big deal.

Are the strikes as tough and boring as this guy implies in his review?

"For co-op, you have Strikes, Destiny’s answer to dungeons in MMORPGs, and the single worst thing about the game. Strikes are horrendous. They’re glorified horde modes, sending you and two others to one of the same locations you visited in the singleplayer campaign and pitting you against wave after wave of the same enemies before a big, ugly boss.

The problem is that, despite being a co-op mode, they demand no cooperation or teamwork beyond reviving allies who have fallen; regular enemies either rush you or stand back taking potshots, while every boss is functionally identical and requires the same strategy - find and shoot the weak point while avoiding the big attacks. There’s nothing whatsoever to encourage, or force any kind of teamwork, to the point that Strikes just feel like three people playing a singleplayer game, albeit on the same map and against the same foes.

To make matters worse, they’re unreasonably, frustratingly difficult. And not from any kind of complexity that can be overcome by strategy, but from sheer weight of numbers. If you attempt a Strike at its recommended level, you can expect to be overrun by more enemies than you can feasibly handle, giving you little to no time to focus on attacking the boss. When you do actually catch a break and hit the big baddie, you’ll find that they have a ridiculous pool of health - to the point that taking down a boss will take anywhere from ten minutes to half an hour, depending on how over-levelled you are. And, if you should be unlucky enough to get wiped out, you have to start the whole thing again, from scratch.

The real kick in the teeth is that once you get to the level cap of 20, farming strikes to get tokens for better gear is basically what the game is reduced to. Bungie is promising big things with Raids, six-player dungeons that can only be attempted by a pre-formed group of friends, that are said to require high levels of coordination. The first Raid won’t be in the game until September 16, though, so for now - and for anyone who isn’t able to find five friends with matching schedules to form a raid group - Destiny’s endgame amounts to repeating the game’s most tedious, boring, and terribly designed element ad nauseum. And honestly, given what I’ve seen with Strikes, I don’t have much hope for Raids either."

Loving the moon. a lot more elite types there and they can mess you up on hard mode (me lvl 6, they are level 8-9).

Not really sure about the pvp maybe it gets better when your level goes up. I've only played Control though.

Level 8 now.

About as expected so far but I still think it's too early to be reviewing this type of game. You need to spend more time with it getting to max level and playing end game content like the raid etc

Not really, I've found the strikes pretty good. There are opportunities for teamwork. The enemies are only beyond what you can handle if you go in under-levelled (1 level below the recommendation is a 30% damage reduction)

Also if you all wipe then you get set back to the checkpoint (usually at the start of the final battle, not the beginning)

Just sounds like he sucks tbh.

Probably the guy was expecting something different then and he shows his frustration in the review. Hmm

I am loving this so far, great game. Only done the first mission on the moon and am a level 8 hunter. I think maybe the alpha and beta were too big thats why people are frustrated because they played through all of earth and a mission on the moon.

Personally I didn't mind playing through it again and looking forward to the new planets. The gameplay is fantastic, the only problem I may have is if the level cap is at 20 I don't know if it will entice me to play on. Should have been able to level up to 70 or 80 at least imo

I think I read somewhere (or I dreamt it) that you can increase the level cap to 29 with Motes of Light (though I don't know what they are yet). Anyway I've seen a few level 22 and 23's around this morning.

I am guessing but I should think the cap will go up with the expansions?
