*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

still need 18 more shards to upgrade the 2 legendary pieces I have, It doesn't look like I'm going to getting more legendary any time soon. I just keep getting the same helmet and chest piece, which isn't too bad because I need the shards but I do want to gain another level this week.

Why does Warlock put you at an advantage? I play Warlock in PvP a lot, and often come top of my team. It's pretty much a guarantee that you'll get nuked by the enemies super attacks, but it's so easy to get kills with a shotgun in close range, and at longer range, just point your auto-rifle at the enemies head and hold down the trigger. Then when my nova bomb is ready, that's another 3 or 4 kills when the enemy try to spam one of the control points (I mostly play Control).

This, i'm a warlock and love the PvP. I don't feel disadvantaged at all and usually do pretty well. I think the classes are very well balanced TBH

I just have horrible luck. I played one game this morning for example, 3v3, one guy on our team left straight away, the other guy was absolutely useless. Needless to say when it's 3v1 there's not too much you can do, and that happens pretty much every time I attempt PVP. I''ll stick to control in the future.

If you ever want to do 3v3 give me a shout.
My 2 mates admit to not being that good at crucible but when we teamed up we won 8 out of 8, with ease. Only 1 match was 'kinda' close.

I consider myself to be quite good at it so with a team of people who are covering me I feel I can take on 3 opponents most of the time. If my team mates actually contribute then it's not even a fight.

3v3 is by far my favorite mode but I'd avoid it unless you team up with friends. When I'm alone I always go for 6v6.
Due to revives + shields in 3v3 it's imposible to take them on if your team mates constantly die after getting just 1 kill - they revive each other then you run in and they all have full shields.

Someone asked if upgrading a weapons 'Attack' always increased its damage. I holded off upgrading my hand cannon to test this and I came across something interesting.

I was testing with precision shots on lv28 enemies for this.
257 Attack > 1209 precision damage
267 Attack > 1279 precision damage
277 Attack > 1347 precision damage
288 Attack > 1421 precision damage

So a 3.9% increase in the Attack stat led to a 5.8% increase in damage. So the real damage increase is 50% higher than the shown one when upgrading weapons. I tested it with 2 further upgrades and roughly the same damage increase occurs.

Tested this on lv10 enemies(grey border) and there was no change when upgrading, also tested it on lv20(white border) and lv24(yellow border) enemies.

It appears the following occurs.
Grey border > No change in attack damage(but I didn't check thoroughly for enemies between lv11 and 20)
White border > Scales the same as lv28
Yellow border > Scales the same as lv28
With white and yellow border enemies I was doing full damage, so basically anything you do full damage to will also scale with your weapon 'Attack' stat.

nice research. glad to see that weapon dmg upgrades are worth it. I am trying to max out a legendary fusion rifle (fire dmg) cos I really like the stats on it. it has amazing range / accuracy with very little recoil, high impact, relatively quick charge time (although not super quick).

so basically, dmg is capped out vs. mobs which appear with a grey border..?

next question: as a level 28 character, what lvl mobs have a white border and what lvl mobs have a grey border..?

p.s. the difference in %dmg dealt may be due to precision shot scaling. i imagine non-crits get the exact amount..? (i.e. 3.9% atk increase = 3.9% actual dmg increase).

I spent a few hours mining the cave of wonders on earth earlier and got a tonne of engrams. The only thing that spoils it is people jumping in to collect them every 2 minutes.

Or to get ammo? I have to do that once the ammo runs out or I'm just a spectator :p

Everyone runs out of ammo at roughly the same time. With 4-5 of you there as well you can all go through most of your ammo for your 3 guns and it takes about 10 minutes. There were a few guys that keep jumping in after 2 minutes and as soon as a blue engram dropped. That is by far and away the easiest spot to farm loot though.

On the ammo thing, I noticed that if you run out you magically restore ammo after around 20 secs on empty.

I picked up some Queen rep yesterday so if anyone's up for some Queen shenanigans tonight from 6.00ish let me know: Videotrap (PS4).

I should have tested crit vs non crit damage really, but I didn't want to spend all day doing it. I'm assuming the scaling will be the same, precision shot damage on a revolver is 300% which I think is higher than other weapons. I've got one more level to get on my revolver, I will check non crit damage on it and see if it scales the same. I cant say for certain if enemies with a grey border don't scale at all with increased attack damage as they might when they get to lv17 or so but to be honest it doesn't really matter as if you're doing a mission that you're heavily overlevelled for it should be a walk in the park anyway. Something also worth noting is even though lv19 is white border for me, I still do less damage to the enemies compared to lv20(only ~1%), so there's another mechanic at play that affects damage between lv1-20, which is pretty obvious when you enter a low level area I guess.

For a lv 28:
<lv19 are grey border enemies
lv19-21 are white border
lv22+ are yellow border

I tested this with a hand cannon, different weapon types may scale differently....even the same types of weapons with different characteristics could scale differently but I just can't be bothered to test it. If I won the lottery tomorrow I could devote my time to pointless endeavours like this :p

EDIT: Just tested it for elites crit and non crit damage and non crit damage on trash. The damage increase was the same. A ~4% increase in the damage attack stat gave a ~6% increase in damage so it applies to ALL damage, just not against low levels.

Managed to hit level 28 this morning! :) and struggling to find anything to do.

Still need to do the nightfall weekly if anyone fancies it on PS4.

I felt like I was enjoying this game then all of a sudden an event happens and I find that myself and two randoms are defending this... thing, which was cool. Then they ran off and started shooting in to this cave. Not really knowing what the hell was going on I joined in and we did a few rinse and repeats of blasting the cave and running in for ammo. I honestly thought it was part of a mission or something :o It was only after about 20 minutes I realised I was in fact just 'farming for loot' and I died a little inside.

I don't really know what I was expecting from the game but it hasn't really gripped me yet.
