*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

The highest rep I have is rank 2 with New Monarchy, allowing me to buy some of their stuff. I'm mid-way through 26 and should hit 27 once I fully upgrade my legendaries.

The best thing I can suggest is pick a faction, level it up whilst playing Crucible and by doing bounties, get legendaries through the Queens mission rewards and upgrade everything you have.

24 is where i am at now, ive only recently found out about the queens missions, ive done all the available bounty's and im no where near close to being able to buy anything queen based, and ive spent the last few days doing vanguard bounty's and some strikes and im still no where near enough vanguard rep to buy the vanguard Armour. isit just a case of grinding every single day or am i missing something? seems like you need to put in crap loads of hours to get past level 24 or like i say is there something im missing that i should be doing? the vanguard strikes reward me the most 25 rep and i need like 1500 or so to get the gear wtf surely im missing something?

Every queens bounty you complete allows you to do a mission that rewards a legendary head/chest. If you look on the left side of the screen in the lobby where the daily/weekly missions appear, you will find it. The mission is random and it will have some elemental modifier on it, press in the touch pad to see what the modifier is and use that element where you can, it will make it a lot easier.

Bounties are meant to be the main source of faction rep, you can get around 400 or so just completing them each day on top of what rep you would usually earn. You can also buy an item from one of the other faction vendors dotted about the tower which allows all rep to go to that faction(both crucible and vanguard).

I just want to know where this $500 million went tbh, it feels like a $50 million game at best. It's basically a grind fest and if you find a easy quick way to level up it gets patched.

I was watching that vault of glass raid and it's basically you teleport into the middle of the map, one guy drops a shield you all shoot boss from inside the shield for 15 seconds, then teleport out before killing some other guys then teleporting back in one guy dropping a shield whilst you all shoot the boss from inside the shield for 15 seconds before jumping back out again.

Tedious, tedious stuff and they can one shot kill you and their life bar takes 2+ hours to deplete so that's all you do for 2+ hours.

Then you rage as someone loses concentration towards the end and ends up getting the whole team killed and you have to start again.

The $500 million is spent over the duration of the game, not just on the retail release. They will be supporting the game for the next 5-10 years.

Vault of Glass is absolutely epic. Really re-ignited my interest in the game. It is a LOT harder IRL than when you watch the professional videos where everyone has pimp gear and knows what they are doing. The strat on the last boss is a LOT more complex than what you are describing btw. It is also very difficult to organise 6 people, with everyone knowing what their job is, and no-one making any mistakes. I also don't understand why you would watch a video of the strat online, when clearly you want a challenge. If you don't know the strat, and you just rock up with 5 randoms, you are going to get ABSOLUTELY DOMINATED. The boss fights are reasonably complex and very difficult to beat unless your whole team knows exactly what they are doing, and doesn't make any mistakes.

p.s. no boss takes 2+ hrs in this game, if it does, you are going in WAY under-levelled. Bosses in strikes take a long time to kill, but Bungie has already said there is a bug affecting player dmg dealt and recieved in strikes, and it will be fixed in the next patch I imagine. If any boss is taking you longer than 10mins, then either a) your gear is rubbish or b) your team is not focusing the boss hard enough.

Yeah, I can see Destiny being close to dead in terms of player count in about 6 months unless the expansions really add some decent content, and not just a couple of extra missions.

Don't get me wrong, I'm loving the game still but I'm running out of things to do other than farming rep

Tempted to buy this, few questions for quickness:

1. Is single player do-able? I have no plans for Xbox Live on my Xbone, but if its needed for a majority of the game I can sling some cash at Live.
2.Is it similar to Borderlands gun wise?

1. Yes, I managed to solo all the story missions and I suck :p It won't take you long to do these though.
2. Never got into Borderlands so dunno /shrug.

you don't need to pay for xbox live for most of the game, but you do need to have it connected to the internet in order to play. only bits like the raids/crucible actually require you to have xbox live gold.

The crucible is terrible compared to Halo 2.

I hate to break it to you but surprise surprise Destiny isn't Halo 2. Why do people insist on comparing it to a competitve arena shooter? Destiny is nothing of the sort, so you're comparing apples and oranges.

$500m is for 3 games (Destiny 1, 2 & 3), support and DLC expansions over the course of 5-10 years.

Your analysis of Vault of Glass couldn't be any further from the truth. It's extremely complex, requiring immense levels of teamwork and co-ordination to successfully execute a strategy. Me and a bunch of other OcUK members cleared it this week, and I don't seem to remember a single boss sponging for 2 hours? As Shake said, the last boss took 6-7 minutes.

Go play VoG and post back here. I can guarantee your opinion will be completely different.
