*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

Got to lvl 20, yet to feel the "ZOMG AMAZEBALLS" though! I'm feeling a little flat tbh.

Can't seem to lvl-up anymore!
Didn't get any special weapons
Didn't get any special amour.
Nothing any different to when I was at lvl 18 or 19

Feeling somewhat deflated now.

Your armour drops will now have Light stat on them. You are wanting legendary armour with one exotic thrown in, that is pretty much your task.

Just managed to do the weekly nightfall mission with the help of couple of people. It was absolutely mental, no way I could have done it alone.

I did get a legendary (void) fusion rifle out of it though. :D

I bought a rare speeder from the vanguard vendor and pimped it up with Xurs upgrade. It's a massive waste of resources but it is a fair bit faster and the green jet trails it creates are pretty cool. I probably should have bought red death instead, just to try it out but i'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

I took a gamble and bought the helmet engram from Xur. Thankfully I got lucky and it was for my class. :)

Wouldn't mind Red Death as I spend a lot of time in the Crucible but can't quite afford it yet. No biggy as I'm sure it'll come around again. :)

Lucky you mine wasn't :( had no other use for mote's so

What do you guys think of the Crucible? Flipping terrible I think. I really like the PvE but Crucible feels so imbalanced due to specials and heavy ammo. If you run into someone with either of those then you might as well just go ahead and bend over. Eg. What are you supposed to do when capping and an enemy Titan turns up with ground pound? In a game like CoD or BF you can always outsmart your opponent even if they have a better weapon (for whatever environment you're in). Not in this game. Only reason I spent any time in Crucible was for the Ikora special bounty.

PvP can be fun if you accept that some weapons/abilities are very overpowered/unbalanced. It's a shame that having the best weapons like the Suros Exotic give you such a big advantage but Bungie were kind of screwed either way. If progression/gear don't carry over then that whole customisation element is lost. The actual classes aren't too unbalanced as Titan & Warlock have unstoppable supers that are one-off deals whereas the Hunter can take out more people but can also be stopped (with enough firepower).

I don't find the PvP more annoying than COD but that's probably because camping isn't as viable an option and most players do actually go for the objectives.

I was disappointed that so many of the exotic bounty challenges required PvP play as some people just don't like it. Conversely, if I was an exclusively PvP player I would be annoyed at the generally rubbish rewards for playing games and the fact that the rewards are dished out randomly with no reflection on how well you played.

There is plenty wrong with the game and hopefully it gets fixed but despite the issues I have put in a heap of hours and genuinely enjoyed them, something about that actual feel of the movement and guns is just "comfortable" and I lose hours to it very easily.

I actually prefer the pvp over the pve, I just find the pve very flat (deploy ghost, kill wave of bad guys, move to next spot and repeat) at least sometimes in pvp I'm up against a god knows who and God knows what they are going to come at me with. Having said all that.. I'm yet to be able to play VOG, I have 4 friends who play and that's it. Finding it difficult to muster a team of 6.

I bought Red Death instead of the speeder upgrade, have the Crucible red/blue speeder so probably should have bought the red speeder trail ;D

Red Death is pretty good though. So meh.

but you might as well save them if xur has nothing you need/want this week, stock changes each week (or should).

Thanks, does that go for strange coins as well.

By the way I'm a hunter, can anyone recommend anything from Xur this week?

Not purchased anything yet from him and have enough coins and motes I think.

vs any super, you are supposed to stay spread out. Warlock / Titan are practically the same in that aspect. Hunter is the OP one, and spreading out won't do **** to counter their supers. Supers have a REALLY long cooldown in PvP, so unless you are getting absolutely smashed then they won't be able to use it more than 1-2 times per match.

Heavy ammo is about map knowledge and control. As soon as you hear the announcer, get your ass to the spawn point and capture the heavy ammo for youself, instead of complaining about dying to people using it.

Secondary weapons are balanced fine imo. Shotguns are useless at range (except a few legendary/exotics - and shotgun range is getting nerfed soon so that will fix that). If you are dying to shotgun users a lot, stop running around like a headless chicken and check your radar, keep them at range and you will annihilate them. Fusion rifles are useless vs a target which is moving sideways or jumping. They are strong down corridors but that's about it. Chuck in a grenade and GG. Snipers are pretty much useless except on the 2 big maps, but hey sniper headshot = 1 hit kill, same as any FPS, no problems here.

Auto rifles are getting a range / accuracy at range nerf in the near future.

Rest of the guns are fairly well balanced.

??

Helmet, if you don't have a exotic you already like. Red death is a nice pulse rifle if you use them?

aaaaargggggghhhh - screw u cryptgraph - I hope the queen has a bounty where we have to take him out - i'll be all over it! :)

Wasted 23 motes of light on a helmet for a Titan (I'm a hunter grrrrr)
Ended up having to spend 13 strange coins on the exotic helmet - my first piece of exotic gear.

At this rate I've got enough gear to have a really powerful Titan - really cba playing through another class though!

Anyone bought the red death exotic from Xur this weekend? Wondering if it's worth the coins!

For PvP - yes
For PvE - no

the special abilities on it are OP for PvP, but useless in PvE.
(when assault rifles get nerfed, it will be one of the strongest weapons in the game for PvP probably)

if you have no other legendary primary weapon however, then it is probably worth picking it up for PvE for the atk rating alone. the stats on it are good, has good accuracy and clip size etc. just you don't really benefit from the special perks on it at all in PvE.
