*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

When capping in control you know when an enemy is approaching from your radar so you should be ready to take them out way before they get close enough to take you out with a super. You can't always do it solo but if there's a few of you capping it should be easier to take them out.

Everyone has access to a super and knowing that I have one and use it from time to time I don't mind too much when I'm killed by one.

Also everyone has access to heavy ammo, you just need to listen out for the announcements (incoming and arrived) and get to one of the many spawn points first, which are always the same. Again, I don't mind if I'm killed by a HW as I know I could have had it first if I'd got my arse in gear.

I see what you're saying but it's not possible to deal with supers that way IMO. Some cap points are in maze-like corridor areas. You can't make space in that kind of area, and yeah you can see an enemy approaching on the radar and you can always leave the cap point but what's the point of that? There's no way to know if that enemy has super or not, and besides that I thought whole point of PvP was to compete with other players, not run away.

And I know that everyone has the same access to these things (heavy ammo, supers, etc) so it's 'balanced' in that sense, but I still don't like the fact that when it comes to actually playing the game the player who happens to have that extra ability will almost always win. It doesn't make sense to me. None of the other FPS games are THAT imbalanced in that sense. E.g., the drones and helis in CoD are super powerful, but as long as you're indoors you can avoid them for the most part. Same with tanks in BF: stay behind hard cover and you're okay.

If some people are enjoying Crucible, more power to them. That's great for them. All I'm saying is I don't like it and I'm highly doubtful many people will still be playing it after the next CoD comes out, mainly due to the imbalances I mentioned and the bare bones nature of it when it comes to customisation/classes/UI, etc.

Honestly kissenger you are coming over as someone that just isn't good at Crucible (specifically object based modes) rather than pointing out some valid issue with how Supers work in the game.

Perhaps you just aren't as effective at using your super rather than the mechanics of PvP being the issue...

EDIT: and your reasoning regards not jumping out of a control point is flawed why would you allow yourself to get supered rather than jump back surviving and then clearing the enemy who hasn't realised he missed you with his super and then go back to capping?!?

I don't think you understand the term imbalance.

There is an imbalance at the moment but it's not the reasons you're giving. You just sound like you don't know how to handle people really.

hi

Im looking to buy an exotic from Xur but I'm not sure if I should chance the exotic helmet engram or use coins to buy the Achlyophage Symbiote helmet for my hunter of which I'm a hunter gunslinger class.

Obviously the engram is a bit more risky being random class and I have 20 strange coins so it shouldn't take to long to get enough for another exotic later on.

what do you think?, is the Achlyophage Symbiote anygood?

thanks

If you got something that wasn't for your class would it make you consider making a character for that class? How I justified the engram - makes an excuse to try the other classes if you don't get the short-term luck you are after...

What else are you gonna use motes of light for anyway ;)

Whether or not you should chance the exotic helmet engram is a choice only you can make!

I have chanced it twice now, on seperate weeks, without success so that's 46 Motes of Light gone, haha. It depends how much you value your motes of light ;)

Do the specs of the hunter helmet not suit you?

Starting to get a little bored now, currently at level 27, unlocked all my upgrades farmed everything have everything expect ascendent shards, which take the mick to get takes forever waiting for public events to pop up and don't can only earn 100 vanguard points per week to brake down armour, there's pretty much nothing left for me to do now except get ascendent shards, is there some other way to get them that im missing?

Actually I do fairly okay at Crucible, and at most other FPS games I play. That's sort of the point. I don't like getting a kill streak going and then having it ended by a worse player than me just because they have super charged and I don't. Super is, like I've been saying, essentially free kills.

I don't get what you're saying on the second point. Of course you try and get out of the way when someone supers, but that's nearly impossible to do on certain cap points because you're dead before you can react, or there's simply nowhere to jump.

I was thinking that but I dont think I can be bothered doing another class.

I could keep the motes of light for next week to see what Xur has to offer, I just wondered if the Achlyophage Symbiote helmet is good while its on offer?

You need to give examples of control points on maps you can't escape from as I can't think of one where you either don't have multiple exits, a long enough line of sight to see the enemy or can't use the radar to get a bead on the direction/entrance they are coming from...

EDIT: control maps are IIRC:

Twilight Gap
Rusted Lands
Exodus Blue
First Light
Bastion
Firebase Delphi
Blind Watch
Shores of Time

Ugh, decided to level my hunter and I had I had the worst group for the moon strike ever....

They just wouldn't get out of the room before the boss so if they didn't die to the shrieker(which they didn't move out of the way of) they had endless waves of knights and wizards to contend with. I tried to set up a group chat to tell them what a bunch of numpties they were being but it was no use. Ended up being the only person damaging the boss the entire time.

I'm not saying that strategy *snigger* doesn't work, but it wont if they don't know when to hold back to make the enemies despawn and its a level 12 strike, not a lv28 nightfall, there was no need for it.

Took over an hour to clear the strike in the end :o

Don't make the same mistake I did this morning dude! - Save your motes of light for something guaranteed - I ended up with a flippin titans helmet (when I'm a Hunter).

I did use the strange coins to buy a Helmet for my hunter though as it was my first exotic item and was only 13 strange coins (I still got 13 left hopefully for a decent exotic weapon next week).

Hey guys i was wonding about the clan, i requested for it but im stil not in it lol. PSN is Blakeyplaya. people can add me if they like need some PSN buddies for the raid ect lol.

Yeah, but it seems Xur only sells the engrams for motes of light so it's a gamble anyway?

I got the hunter helmet in the end, hopefully next week Xur has a good exotic primary.

Really want a good auto rifle!

The daily heroics and weeklies on max difficulty give ascendant materials. It says pre-mission when you select the difficulty what rewards you get.

If you have a kill streak going and they get their super before you then they have a better kill streak going than you, or they have configured all of their perks and intellect to boost their super energy.

I've played a lot of crucible and what a lot of people don't seem to get is what supers supersede the others and when to use them. Do you use it early so you can start charging it again? Or are you a striker titan facing up against an army of dancers? Maybe worth holding onto that fist of havoc because it trumps the other CQB supers.
