I can see it now, they add matchmaking, 5 randomers will be wandering around ignoring the oracles while the other guy rages. He then rages on the internet with a hundred others in similar situations and they have to make it simpler because People. Are. Stupid.
Here I'll quote it for you as you seem to have missed it in your thorough reading of the thread.
It's not as simple as 'you do your thing, I'll do mine. It doesn't harm you' If they end up adding matchmaking then lowering the difficulty so every player who can't make friends can do it then it DOES harm people that want the challenge.
The game is fine the way it is, there is a range of content designed for everyone from the 1hr a week social player to the guys who want to grind out mats or attempt ultra hard raids. There is nothing you can get in the raid that you can't get elsewhere except raid gear, which is only needed for raids!

lol, you're having a laugh now, This game is Very content weak. Once you hit level 26+ you have the raid or pvp to keep you going, the rest is the same **** over and over.
They could easily lower the difficulty for match making and give the option of the harder challenge for those groups who want it, hell could even give them better drops or drops only accessed when played like that.. I honestly couldn't give a **** about the gear. It's the content I feel I'm missing out on.
You are seeing it as such a negative thing and overlooking that fact that if the feature is implemented, it is done so because a big enough part of the games community actually wished for it.
What confuses me most is how you see the people with forum personas are by default better people to play with. That I don't understand. The chances of being stuck with some muppet aren't much different. You could easily befriend someone from a matchmaking game and play together in future.
The only reason people are complaining is because they want to have everything handed to them.
If they make all the content available immediately then people do it in a day/two days and start moaning that there is no content. Bungie (and anyone else making this type of game) literally can't win.
Why stop at level 20? Why not make the raid level 1, it's the best content after all why should anyone have to play anything else in the game?
This game barely requires any 'grinding' You don't need to collect thousands of materials for something. Even the exotic bounties are all fairly tame. Legendaries for the last few weeks have been literally handed to you by doing a quick bounty and mission. Beyond that you can even buy legendaries, no need to rely on RNG. Does Diablo let you do that? Absolutely not.
stuff.. .

I'm starting to get bored now if I'm honest.
I'm level 27 and struggling to find a reason to log on.
I've only been on once this week and all I did was run around the same maps again looking for spinmetal to level armours up.
Don't like PvP and managed to get a DMG 300 legendary primary weapon dropped from a strike so don't need to save for a new one just yet really, everything else is legendary.
What can I do, other then try the raid?

won't make a difference tbh, if you are a higher lvl, they just cap your dmg anyway, so you will be doing as much dmg as a lvl 28 vs lvl 28 enemies.
