*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

How difficult is the weekly heroic to do solo? I've got a bounty to complete the weekly heroic or the nightfall strike and it's the only bounty I have left today. Only want to do it as I'm close to another vanguard level and I want my free legendary item(s).

Pretty easy tbh. Snipe the tank from behind the tree on the left. For the final machine gun boss just sit under the stairs in the back left of the room. Bring ammo packs.

Argh! And who exactly are you to say there is no point in randoms attempting it because they will fail miserably as they can't get a team together without matchmaking? As I said, I couldn't care less if I die over and over and over and over, I at least want to have the opportunity to TRY the raid that is apparently the best thing in the whole game.

I got a random group together on Saturday night with me and my brother.....so 4 of them where people I dont know.....2 were German and spoke almost no English....1 didnt have a mic at all and the other did have a mic and spoke fluent English.

Anyway me and my brothers first time in VOG....did read tactics etc beforehand and we cleared it in about 3 and a half hours.

The hardest bit was the Gorgons labyrinth as we had no idea where to go and people not speaking was hard to co-ordinate.

Matchmaking for Raids should be in place.....Randoms can do it....its NOT that hard.

I do understand peoples point though.

People you don't know in a team you put together tend to be willing to work as a team. Random players... you can't guarantee that and it would be really frustrating with the current situation of 'no kick option' and **** poor 'in progress' joining.

It may be frustrating with Random players....but its a lot more frustrating trying to add freinds from Random sites like DestinyLFG.net to PSN....add them to party chat then add them to your fireteam.....and you still end up with a random group anyway.....plus it took me over an hour to get the group together.

If you have a good group of 6 friends, then you have the luxury of the run being super smooth.....for the rest of us that need randoms, matchmaking is an essential feature that is missing.

Why not just use here then? There are loads of people on here that have Destiny, shouldn't be hard to get a group together or join an existing one. I've seen 3/4 people setting up separate groups for PS4.

There are not 5 other people on here who play the same time as me. I'm sure that is the same for many others. That is why.

Are you serious? I've posted numerous times on here for a group for Xyur or the weekly heroics, no one is around early in the mornings, certainly not to try and do the raid. I am absolutely amazed at the amount of opposition to a feature which will have no negative effect on anyone at all, but benefit many.

I think he means the multiplayer thread, i.e this one.

After doing the raid with people with comms I can say for first timers on the raid if it was randomers with no comms and even worse no knowledge of the raid it would be nigh on impossible. You can't carry a team nevermind how good your accuracy is our how OP your gear is.

It makes sense not to have matchmaking as it would make for such a horrible gaming experience and no doubt if matchmaking was included there would be an additional 10 pages to this thread complaining how bad other players are and how its impossible to complete the raid due to leavers etc.

I'm sure this won't be the case a few months down the line once players are more experienced, more gear and maybe even higher levels. Which that is when Bungie can actually look into enabling matchmaking.

For the time being I would use any gaming communities you are part of or DestinyLFG.

I know what he means, but if I can't even get a group for the weekly heroic, why on earth would I bother with the raid thread? Every single run on there is weekday evenings or the weekends, not a single mention of early mornings which is when I am online.

Don't really understand why there is a debate about matchmaking, if it's an option so be it, if people don't mind joining randoms and possibly expect players to sign off during gameplay that's that.

I feel matchmaking should be available for all modes for when we can't get a group together.

I was on earlier, I have 97 friends on my list and about 4 were playing destiny, it's not always possible to get a friends group together.

People keep saying they don't really understand....have you ever been involved in a discussion? people keep saying why they think adding matchmaking would be a bad idea. Reading their posts might help you understand

I understand why it's a bad idea. But if some are prepared to put up with some of the potential problems then what's the problem of adding the option?

We still would all have a choice.

cheers, this made it surprisingly easy. although quite annoying that you have a 5min wait between using ammo packs.

Racking up the motes and coins now, really hope Xur has something good/useful this weekend because I should manage at least 50 of each.

What you and some others keep doing is keep mentioning the worst possible scenario. You use a matchmaking system and you get grouped with douchebags.

That doesnt always happen the way you seem to think it does. This is why people "dont really understand". You are opposed to an optional system. What simply happens is you continue to have smooth raids with your pre made groups and random groups struggle. There is ZERO impact on your own perfect little system. Contrary to what you seem to believe.

You seem so passionately against the idea. Its an idea that a bunch of other people here have also justified. Some people dont want to come onto a forum thread, pick a time they should be free then allocate slots to people. Some people like to just dive in when their life offers them a bit of spare time.

What dont YOU understand about that?

I just want to play the raid when i want, without having to schedule time in advance for it. Don't care if i get some bad groups, you get that all the time when pugging, that's just the way it goes.

I don't know what it will take for Bungie to put more matchmaking in, obviously a large number of the player-base if not most wants it in the game, but is that enough to convince Bungie?

Remember when Diablo 3 first launched? Inferno was a very difficult challenge, only a small percentage could do it (and I'm not one of them before you start with your elitist nonsense) People complained and as a result they made Inferno easier so that everyone could do it. Result being that there was no ultimate challenge for those people that had reached the peak of their characters. So there is no such thing as optional, adding matchmaking to something too difficult for matchmaking has a very high chance of leading to them making it easier so anyone can do it. Therefore it DOES effect everybody.

We are already seeing 90% of AAA games practically completing themselves to be inclusive to everyone. Finally a developer has the nerve to add a difficult section of the game (and only a very small percentage of the game) Something that requires teamwork and communication and people still complain.

What don't YOU understand about that?

This is going around in circles.

You are 100% positive that it will cause the game to be made easier. I'm not going to change your mind on this.

Lets agree to disagree.

Chances are they will bow to the masses and your game will end up getting ruined in the quest to make content more accessible to others. Please dont get too upset if it happens.
