*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

I still don't understand where this whole the game will get easier thing is coming from. That is nothing to do with matchmaking.

It would only work if bungie left the VOG untouched and only added match making

but we're all so pesimistic and convinced that adding match making would change the complaints from "I can't get into the vault of glass" to "I can't complete the vault of glass" and just like the loot drop changes - bungie would have to act to stop all the complaints.

There were those that thought destinys legendary and exotics were already too easy to get, and were outraged that the patch made them easier to get. These people came from MMO backgrounsds and were used to having to grind months just to get a chance of an exotic. If enough of the community moan, developers will have to change it, regardless of their original vision.

Current difficulty of the raid + matchmaking with randoms = you are going to have a bad time. Really bad. Unless everyone is decked out in full legendaries AND everyone knows the strats inside out. Bungie is just trying to save you a lot of stress.

They would pretty much have to lower the difficulty of the raid in order to allow randomers to stand a chance in hell without half the group rage quitting after 15mins of non-stop wiping.

If you are having difficulties finding a raid group that raids at your hours from here, I strongly recommend creating a thread on the Bungie/Destiny forums to try and create a group. Make sure to mention your platform, the day and time range you wish to attempt the raid and minimum requirements for people to apply. Then you can get a group sorted out.

You really need a "regular" group to play it with when learning it, because the group will wipe a countless amount of times until they learn the strategy. Once you learn it, it's easy to clear without wiping, but the actual boss fights are fairly complex and very difficult to do unless everyone knows what is going on and people stop dying 24/7.

With a matchmaking system, there is absolutely no guarantee at all that everyone will know the strategies, and it is simply not possible to kill the bosses if even just 1 person doesn't know what is going on. It would be pure hell. Bungie is just trying to save you a lot of anguish by not including the matchmaking feature.

That's my 2c anyway on the whole discussion.

This isn't a company like Blizzard, they don't have years and years of MMO design experience, and creating multiple raid difficulties for different types of groups took Blizzard 5+ years to implement in WoW, it's a big ask for Bungie to have these features ready for Destiny's retail release. Maybe they will add it some day. Who knows.

If anyone fancies it I will be running both the nightfall and weekly heroic with my lv27 hunter, just join the game in progress if you're interested. PSN is Righteous_Rabbit

Looking forward to the Iron Banner tomorrow, as my interest in the game is starting to wane somewhat. Although I can imagine going up against a level 30 Titan with a Suros Regime would be hellish.

The difference is that the group has the choice to reject players who don't have a mic and aren't interested in team work.

Get an auto match making system going together and you've got no control over who joins you. What the heck are you supposed to do if you get somebody who is not using game chat and can't hear you ? and then decides he wants to sack it off and leave it for you to do all the work ?

You're assuming that given the option to auto match make, you would get nothing but people willing and able to participate and work as team.

Just look at the trouble people have had with strikes where they've had to sit down and wait for **** players to disconnect because the game provides no functionality to remove players from "

Or the other option like some have said is not play it at all. I think I would rather play with randoms and have a play than not play at all. :p

What if I find myself with some free time and haven't planned to play in advance, if there was a match making system I could have a blast at it, win or lose who cares.

It's going to happen because there are simply more casual gamers than elitests :p

If anyone wants to do a last minute Queen's Wrath mission, the short one on Earth, I'm on now. Just add me if you haven't (PSN: MachM82). Could always use a hand...teamwork,it's the way forward.

Edit, should be in the MP thread I guess, oops!

Took me up until yesterday before I got 2 of them on the go. Like blooming buses, I was level 27 when I turned in a series of bounties.

Just got the Invictus, easy. And now for the last part of Thorn... probably do it tomorrow now.

e: Invictus shotgun, not invites

Upcoming patch to fix some of the disconnection issues. Can't come soon enough for me, I've been having a lot of difficulty playing with other people since the last patch so hopefully this will make things better. 7am pacific time today and the servers will be down a few hours for it.

You and all the other anti matchmaking people in this thread won't need to worry about that because it won't affect you one bit.

And it is not nearly as easy as you suggest to get a raid team sorted via this or any other forum. It might have worked for you but I've yet to get in in an OCUK raid despite posting numerous times (although tbf I only got to L27 just now). You need to schedule it in advance and there's too much sitting around sending invites and waiting on people, etc.

We did that again last night. Went through it a few weeks ago when we had just hit lvl25/26. Tough as nails, had to hide outside in the corridor and nuke Wizards and it still took ages.

Last nights attempt at lvl28 with decent guns (including my own Thorn) we did pretty well. Still not the smoothest run but we didn't fail.

Thorn is such a stupidly hard bounty though. I picked up Super Good Advice a few days ago, did the bounty start to finish in under 45 minutes.

The same can be said with the Invictus bounty. Especially with the weekly heroic being fairly easy to lame it under the stairs, I actually did it 4 times, twice for the benefit of my level 21 bro (Strange coins and daily Bounty).

I've found doing it solo on challenges easier, so will attempt the Wizard tonight solo first, level 27 Sunslinger. Probably lame it out between doorway.

Thorn better be worth it!

The last Thorn strike can be solo'd. I'm not sure if the difficulty scales with the number of people doing it, but I managed it a couple of weeks ago. It did take me a few goes but once you get past the rune decoding room towards the start of the level it's not that hard. Once you get to the boss at the end just camp the hallway outside and lure & kill them for about 20/25mins until Xyor arrives. You don't even have to kill Phogoth, only Xyor. Just take some ammo packs and be patient :)
