I still don't understand where this whole the game will get easier thing is coming from. That is nothing to do with matchmaking.
Current difficulty of the raid + matchmaking with randoms = you are going to have a bad time. Really bad. Unless everyone is decked out in full legendaries AND everyone knows the strats inside out. Bungie is just trying to save you a lot of stress.
They would pretty much have to lower the difficulty of the raid in order to allow randomers to stand a chance in hell without half the group rage quitting after 15mins of non-stop wiping.
If you are having difficulties finding a raid group that raids at your hours from here, I strongly recommend creating a thread on the Bungie/Destiny forums to try and create a group. Make sure to mention your platform, the day and time range you wish to attempt the raid and minimum requirements for people to apply. Then you can get a group sorted out.
You really need a "regular" group to play it with when learning it, because the group will wipe a countless amount of times until they learn the strategy. Once you learn it, it's easy to clear without wiping, but the actual boss fights are fairly complex and very difficult to do unless everyone knows what is going on and people stop dying 24/7.
With a matchmaking system, there is absolutely no guarantee at all that everyone will know the strategies, and it is simply not possible to kill the bosses if even just 1 person doesn't know what is going on. It would be pure hell. Bungie is just trying to save you a lot of anguish by not including the matchmaking feature.
That's my 2c anyway on the whole discussion.
This isn't a company like Blizzard, they don't have years and years of MMO design experience, and creating multiple raid difficulties for different types of groups took Blizzard 5+ years to implement in WoW, it's a big ask for Bungie to have these features ready for Destiny's retail release. Maybe they will add it some day. Who knows.
