*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

You and all the other anti matchmaking people in this thread won't need to worry about that because it won't affect you one bit.

And it is not nearly as easy as you suggest to get a raid team sorted via this or any other forum. It might have worked for you but I've yet to get in in an OCUK raid despite posting numerous times (although tbf I only got to L27 just now). You need to schedule it in advance and there's too much sitting around sending invites and waiting on people, etc.

Thats a load of crap. You clearly havent tried the bungie fireteams forum. I posted on there last week, a quick intro of what i wanted to do mission wise, console, time and other specifics (level 27+, mic, english speaking, available within next 15 mins) that were needed. I was doing the nightfall so needed 3, yet i had 8-9 people add me as a friend and message about playing. Theres plenty on there.

Upcoming patch to fix some of the disconnection issues. Can't come soon enough for me, I've been having a lot of difficulty playing with other people since the last patch so hopefully this will make things better. 7am pacific time today and the servers will be down a few hours for it.

So around 3pm our time then, better than in the evening :)

How are you going to tell me what I actually experienced is 'a load of crap'? I've tried here and r/Firetreams and couldnt sort a raid on either. I'm sure I could with enough patience but I'd also like the option of matchmaking if I don't feel like signing up to a forum, posting a request, waiting around for replies, adding people to my friends list, sending fireteam invites, waiting for people to join, etc, etc.

Adding matchmaking to VoG will inevitably end up with Bungie nerfing it to stop casual players complaining that it's far too difficult. In any MMO, raids are designed to be the pinnacle of the game; extremely difficult but highly rewarding. Raids are end game content and by their very nature, are not meant to be completed on the first day of release.

If Bungie add matchmaking, the following will happen:

1. Random fireteams attempt the raid with zero communication or understanding of strategies;
2. The fireteam wipes;
3. The fireteam wipes again;
4. The fireteam continues to wipe;
5. Everyone on the fireteam complains that the raid is too difficult;
6. More fireteams complain that the raid is too difficult;
7. Bungie listen to said complaints and reduce the difficulty of the raid.

With DestinyLFG, the Bungie forums and various other message boards around the world it isn't difficult to find people to do end game content with. If you're still struggling, go search and join a clan on the Bungie website.

Fair, but have you tried destinylfg? I used it on Sunday (no sign up required), needed 4 for a VoG run. All sorted within about 10 minutes, everyone had a mic (3 English and 1 Swedish guy). We ran the full raid in about 2 hours, with hardly any issues, so it definitely can be done.

I quite like that everyone needs to buy into the objective, rather than just getting matchmade into a game where there are more player variables.

As I've said before, raid matchmaking I don't have a problem with as long as they do not make the raids easier, ever, regardless of how much complaining there is about the difficulty. If it turns out that a team of randoms are unable to complete it for whatever reason. Tough.

I don't really have a problem with matchmaking as long as the difficulty isn't nerfed. I played Warframe on the PC for a while and the teamwork that you get with a team of randomers can sometimes surprise you!

You don't signup, you login with your microsoft account.
You dont wait around for replies
people add you
Fireteam invite takes 10 seconds
you have to wait for people to join in matchmaking anyway

Add to that, there are numerous threads everyday asking for 5th/6th people to join a raid that you can pinch the last spot in.

I called it crap because it appears you're making it all up. Like i said, i made my own topic, went into the kitchen to make a drink and by the time i got back i had 2-3 party invites and around 8 people added to my friends list. We did the nightfall, then a couple more people joined and we did a raid. There was minimal effort on my part and i got people who talked and actually wanted to play.

From the matchmaking ive seen already, the people who sit motionless for 5 mins before being booted from a strike, the ones who run off and do random things or the noobies who run straight in and die because theres no mic chat if they dont join the fireteam as well and rage quit because i'm not running in to revive them. Add to that random matchmaking will add language barriers.... it wont be fun for a 2+ hour raid event.

Which doesn't really help since you can't talk to your clan-mates, or even see who your clan-mates are in game :p My experience of the OcUK clan is that I start the Destiny companion app, see there's a message from someone two hours ago asking if anyone wants to do the weekly heroic. Well as it happens I do but that was two hours ago and I dunno if that guy has done it already or given up if he's even still online.

It just feels wrong to me to just pick someone in your friends list (most of whom are from the Destiny Multiplayer thread and I don't know that well) and join their fireteam.

I'm against raid matchmaking because it diminishes the social interaction between players. The current situation with social interaction needs improving, not extending. I say this as someone who has yet to experience the VoG.

chill out kissenger - its getting a bit boring reading your rant over and over again about matchmaking.

I find no problem getting a fireteam to do what I want - I've added everyone here in OCUK (thats a potential 20+ players to send invites to as soon as I join the game) and most of the time I find two of them doing what I want anyways so just join them!. Everyone here on OCUK is friendly enough to just join.

Raids take planning - they are long so you need to ensure everyone is available hence the requirement to plan. Its not like a 10 minute strike run!. Theres plenty of evidence on this ere forums of people managing to arrange raids no problems.

With all due respect - if you change your attitude, add some friends, post in some threads theres no problem getting a 6 man fireteam together.

When are they going to patch the damage to bosses in strikes?

That said, I was in a fireteam last night and we were so efficient. No comms but we just worked so well together that we were constantly moving as we were taking enemies out so fast. Even the bosses went down extremely fast. Ended up doing about 5 strikes with them before one just disconnected

Agreed.

Things like in-game chat (voice and text), clan only matches, social areas in the Tower etc, will massively improve the social aspect of Destiny.

that would be good.

Having a status over a players head in the tower would be cool feature like.......

Available for strike! or Want to join me for patrol!

why did they have to remove the queen bounties, I've done the 6 normal bounties in less than 30 mins and now the only ones left are all crucible one. I've only had a quick go on the crucible and didn't really like it but now it looks like I'm going to have to give it another go.

They were only around for 2 weeks, that time has come and gone now! It's all about the Iron Banner now :D

add matching making and also add different difficulty settings as an option keep the current difficulty and add an easier one or something. I understand the uber zomg my group is teh l33test kind of people but there are also people out there that are just causal gamers that don't dedicate their entire lives to the game that want to be able to just pick up and play the game.

When are they going to patch the crap exotic weapons ?

So far all the patches have been very minor with no balance changes or significant fixes.
