*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

Even as a titan you can jump the gap from the second platform as long as you have the increased control skill active

Yeah I can easily clear it. I think I use the perk that gives you extra lift.

To be honest I'd be quite glad if they've patched the safespot on the Templar battle. I've used it on my runs and while it is nice to get through it at the first attempt every time, it does feel like quite a cheap way of doing it. I like a challenge so I'll probably enjoy staying down and getting my hands dirty. Both my primary and secondary do bonus damage to Oracles, might as well make more use of them :D

The Atheon push tactic seems quite random in terms of when it works and when it doesn't. Sometimes it's quicker to just fight him straight up, that's my experience anyway :)

You know, none of these hot fixes have really affected me (yet), however these sort of significant changes are very dangerous and are starting to put me off playing the game.

I can only imagine how much effort people must have put in to get the Mythocast, only for it then to be nerfed liked that.

I've worked off my arse adding experience and materials to my autorifle primary and exotic shotgun, now both are getting nerfed.

How can I invest time in to this game when they can suddenly change something on a whim.

It's like the loot cave on Earth or now the fix on the Raid, they are actively stopping people experimenting and playing the game THEY want to play, only to force them and limit them to play in the confines of what Bungie want. Perhaps Bungie want to focus on adding more content or fixing the issues which do need more attention.

Not normally this vocal on these things, but I'm left unusually annoyed today.

Standard Post Development Balancing on MMO's mate......you get people all over the forums whining about how OP a weapon is in PvP and they then crumble and nerf the hell out of it so that it effectivelty becomes useless and then the whiners can be happy now their gun of choice is the most powerful.....only now they have a new set of whiners until something else gets nerfed....this cycle will go on forever.

With regards to fixing farming spots and doing bosses easisly.......they just dont want people to finish their particularly shallow content as quickly as they could with farming spots for shards and doing Raids in an hour or so....otherwise people will get bored, leave and not buy their next DLC package, that will most likely reset their grind again.

I love the game and have spent many hours playing it.....but you can see how the corporate money machine behind the game is influencing the design decision pre and post release, which is detriment to the players experience.

You need a specific class and chest armor to do that though.

You need Voidfang and two grenade sunsinger OR you need a team to go back and beat the oracles and do it with voidwalker.

Still an exploit though that I'm surprised they haven't addressed

You really don't. Theres a video of a titan doing it solo on reddit.

They've already tweeted and said this is not the last of the VOG patches. They just didn't get to fix the Atheon cheese in this patch. One more week left with it at most.

It can take weeks to get a patch tested and rolled out / approved etc.. This patch was probably finished in dev before this become well known.

You're seriously questioning why the developers are fixing exploits beyond the intended design of the levels?

Indeed. Blizzard have banned people from world of warcraft for less. This was always coming and game developers have never welcomed players playing the game in a way that made it easier than they intended. Its a constant battle where players always try and find the best way to reap rewards. That path is always the one with the best time / reward ratio. As such, they will always take the path of least effort but most reward, which is why the loot caves all got patched.

Its what you see in GTA V, where each patch that comes out reduces the mission payout in GTA: Online of a different mission. Each time they reduce the payout of one, the community moves on and finds the next best mission that gives the most GTA Dollars for the least amount of time spent. Find a way to complete it even faster (eg the rooftop ruble blow up the money trick) and the devs will patch that too.

Its not even specific to mmos, it happens in all games. Its only really COD that seems to like players choosing cheese class setups that have the sole intention of annoying other players (eg the Witch class in MW2, deliberately including quick scoping in MW3 etc..)

I don't mind the repeated levels, I enjoy the game, especially the strikes as its intense and quick. This is just playing PvE (at level 25 at the moment)

To be honest, there are hardly any video games anymore that grip me like that, apart from Zelda. I'd have long been done with it if it was any other game.

Still waiting for this mythical Bad Juju and Thorn patch that everyone seem to have mention but Bungie's action.

Also,

If there's one thing Bungie have done right about this game class system, it really does make you shift your play style in PvE when you choose different classes:

With my main Sunsinger, I have the nade spamming, and the safety of resurrection, gearing heavily on armour and llow on agility. My level 25 hunter CANNOT be played in the same style or I'll be dead quicker than a dodo. Makes you shift specific weapon for the class too.

On PvP though, it doesn't matter, it's all about the gun stat and perked for killing with Supercharge or nades.

Is there any actual point in upgrading my gear for PvP? I'm light level 25 and I'm using a level 18 weapon still... If I'm not doing raids or anything like that is there any point trying to farm materials to upgrade my light level?

It doesn't make sense to kill the loot cave as it really isn't providing people with crazy levels of loot as the best gear is still locked behind the raid/nightfall drops. I suppose it crushes the uses for glimmer but I've never struggled for cash.

As for the Mythocast and any gun that gets a nerf, yes its dissapointed but no way are those guns suddenly going to become terrible or unusable. The Mythocast will still probably be a great gun if you hit crits but probably not great for PVP which no single gun should be.

I say ban exotics from PvP and make them as awesome as they were intended for PvE. It would stop people whining about being shafted by an overpowered weapon in PvP, and stop people whining that they nerfed their best gun and its now next to useless in PvE.

Yes despite my whining, I still maintain how much I like the game. Going from Destiny back to something like Farcry or COD just doesn't appeal now.

As others have said, the gameplay mehanics are captivating. I can see me continuing with Destiny for some time to come, I was at a loss lastnight without it :D

Nope. Unless you're doing Iron Banner, if you find a decent stat weapon, regardless of level and base damage, as long as you kill and achieve objectives, you'll be fine. Light means nothing in PvP.

I've been killed by level 15 Shingen-E repeatedly, hate that gun with a passion but I don't complain, I find ways of nailing those SoB with a different route of attack.

Did you read the patch notes? Right at the beginning:

Obviously not :p:p:p

I completely agree. It has been a while since a game has captured my attention as much as Destiny. Every evening I look forward to playing it. :)

So much so that my gaming has shifted from 90/10 Xbone/PS4 to 0/100.

Ok mate, thanks for that. Is Iron Banner finishing today? I got to rank 1 but I've not managed to play so doubt I'm going to get to rank 2 sadly.

I'm not sure if Hunter is the right class for me, I find them ok but I swear other classes ultis wreck more.

I thought Iron Banner is for the fortnight, so another week yet.

As for classes, it's down to your play style.

Just got into my Blade Dancer subclass for the Hunter, I can see why it can be so OP when doing control or big team kill. Same with the Voidwalker's Superattack.

My bro likes to run and smash, so Titan Striker suits him more than a weaker defence hunter that run and dodge. Might be your thing?

weapon levels and light levels mean nothing in the crucible.

PVE Damage = Weapon level x impact

PVP Damage = impact only.

As such, a level 6 Auto Rifle with identical impact as a level 20 gun will do identical damage. Only the rate of fire / reload / stability etc.. characteristics differ.

As for armor / light, all players have the same amount of health / armor in the crucible, with the exception of the codex changes which can change your agility / armor etc.. but the actual difference it makes in terms of bullets to kill is hardly any different at all.

With all this changing and balancing PvP will be not fun at all. I hate balanced PvP cause if I cant outgear other players I lose since i suck. I got 180+ hours played in destiny and i just suck bit less. And I know I wont get any better worse if anything. Sadly since I turned 29 I noticed I am doing worse and worse every year at Gaming....
I been playing games since 9 when I got myself C64 for money from two birthdays (yes i saved up two years for one) just cant concentrate as much and my reflexes are not what they used to be.
I did try playing pvp on modafinil defo back to shape then. But thats a waste of my backup pills when i need em to survive rough monday after weekend heh.

I say NO to balanced pvp that killed all fun i had in WoW and ESO and other games i played.

Can you share what it is as I'm stuck at work. I can then sit and plan my strategy accordingly :)

Lightswitch, Juggler and Void Burn :) Doesn't even need any camping spots or silly tactics this time round imo, long as you've got a couple of void weapons it's pretty easy.
