We will kill Aetheon tonight chaps... he is going down.

I need a stronger primary for the Oracles though. My 300 attack scout rifle was taking one down with 8 shots. Problem is it ony has a 15 round mag thus requiring a reload right at the wrong point. I will fiddle with the setup a bit to see if I can increase the reload bar as that was the killer for me. Icebreaker could take them down in one hit (judging by two I killed with it) but that will leave me with no ammo for the boss. IIRC I was doing ~14k damage to him with each shot. No doubt I want to save the Icebreaker for that if I can.

As long as we can keep the runs through the gates clean (when we teleport) I think we have a really good shot at taking him down. I think by the last 5 or so attempts we were all tired and frustrated. Big thanks to all of you for carrying on.

Quick question - I know how to cleanse with the relic and attack but how do you put the shield up?

Also was anyone finding they would teleport and end up facing the wrong way? Every time I was facing away from where I needed to go!

I did pick up a raid chest piece, raid boots and praedeyths (sp?) revenge though so I am happy so far. I just need the gauntlets and I can hit level 30 now!

Isn't the shield the cleansing bubble as well?

I think we have all got the general idea and could have cracked it last night if it wasn't so late and everyone wasn't so frustrated. Aetheon will perish lol.

Word out of of Bungie today is that they’ll be taking Destiny offline later this week to begin formal preparations for some of the content updates they plan to roll out later this year. According to them, this is a planned outage and they’re hoping to have it all wrapped up and service back online in about four hours. Here’s the official time frame they gave on their blog:

The maintenance window begins around 8AM Pacific.
We’ll be done by (or shortly after) Noon, if all goes according to plan.

I’m terrible with time zones but I’m pretty sure that puts the offline window at 4-8pm in the UK. Interesting they chose that time to do maintenance rather than a little earlier in the day but at least it occurs on a Thursday rather than Friday. Hopefully very few of you will be affected by this outage, and if you want to know a little more about what they’re preparing for, check out our post from yesterday regarding the details they’ve released so far.

Hopefully Destiny is back up by 8pm. If not maybe tomorrow lads?

It sounds like it is up tonight but down tommorow (mentions Thursday in the post).

Judging by the previous patches trying to do anything strike or raid related would be a no go for ~12 hours after it goes live. The disconnects were a killer two weeks ago on the Nightfall!

Game has been weird with me last night. 4 legendary engrams dropped, more than I've ever seen! Two helmets(hunter/warlock), Shadow price and Grim Citizen, was quite chuffed as I'm lacking legendary weapons.

The raid gave me the same chest piece for the third time, a duplicate shotgun, another skirt for my Titan but then made up for it by giving me the Vision of Confluence for crushing Atheon!

Nightfalls have been utterly worthless. 2 rewards exactly the same as last week, how can it even be possible?

The Nightfall was pretty meh for us yesterday as well. One of our team did get The Last Word but I only got some legendary fusion rifle (I don't use them) whilst Piphal (who ended up soloing the boss due to our deaths) only got 7 strange coins (no engrams or anything else).... WTF?! He could have got more by just doing the weekly heroic.

Dissapointing as I got Icebreaker the week before.

Maybe if you take out the first couple of oracles with Icebreaker it will fully reload by the time you get through the portal? It is worth having for Atheon though. Funnily enough Piphal said that to me at work this morning. I think I just got lucky with it.

The idea about using Icebreaker for a couple Oracles is a good one. I will try that tonight. (Icebreaker the first two, primary on second lot and if required heavy on the final two).

Thanks for the tip on the shield - same as cleanse then. I am happy to provide Oracle fire support when teleported if someone else wants the shield.

Quick question guys, am building up my second character which is a titan, now my primary is a level 29 hunter what I would like to no is with the marks that my hunter has will they be available to my titan when she reaches 20 so she can buy some legendary armour or am I going to have to build that lot up again on my titan. The reason I ask is that I can Max out my marks on my hunter faster than my level 20 titan can at the moment

Is the loot system broken in this game. I've done the raid half a dozen times now and got gear 4 times, but every time it's been the same pair of gauntlets.

No its just completely random. Its effectively all based upon a dice roll / random number generator and for some reason Destiny seems to be able to roll the same number multiple times.

Its why I've had 3 pairs of Raid boots, 1 chest piece, but no other raid armor for my titan. Meanwhile i've had 4 Atheons Epilogues, 2 Vision of Confluence, 2 Found Verdict, 2 Praediths Revenge and 1 Hazen vengence.

People have been screaming about it on reddit, but I think bungie do this deliberately to hold you back and make you play the game more, as there appears to be no desire to even acknowledge that the loot drop system isn't what players want.

You can't share marks, only glimmer.

Furthermore, Hunters can only buy legendary hunter armor and so forth. The only way to get legendary armor for your new class is to earn it all over again. You can however put items in the vault you get from engrams that are not for your class. I've got two pieces of warlock armor I got from engrams in the vault for when I bother to get my warlock to level 20.

You may already have received titan armor and sharded it. If you get any more, stick it in the vault.

Finally upgraded my weapon from Atheon so that it does extra damage to the oracles - does it just completely wreck them?

Wouldn't go that far. It does the job in a way that doesn't leave you feeling frustrated.

The one that wrecks them is the Raid Fusion rifle. If somebody gets teleported into the past / future worlds with me, and they have one of those, I hardly get any oracle kills as the fusion rifle kills them much quicker than the epilogue.

I had terrible luck last week. One character got 10 coins, the other got a **** purple scout rifle from FWC that I broke down for energies.

This week however I got the Hard Light Exotic Auto Rifle (much to martin's annoyance lol)

The only other exotic I'd really like is the mythoclast and Gjallarhorn. (Martin has both of these however so its swings and roundabouts)

Yea it was a challenge! I feel a bit more confident with what to do with the relic now.

Well...

I have my 29 Warlock, waiting on boots for lvl 30, hes my primary.
Yesterday I got my new alt Watlock to 26, shes now waiting on raid armour barring helmet.

And.... Im jusy about to delete my 28 Titan, who was my first character and Ive fell out of love with.

So... hes getting replaced with a new hunter as of today. Im keeping all Titan armour in thr vault just in case.

If anyone sees me with my low level hunter grinding my arse through story for the second time this week, feel free to join me to help, if only for a mission or two
