*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

Did my first Hard raid over the weekend and got the Helmet and Mythoclast.

Are there any people using Mythoclast for PvE? not sure if there is a perk later on when you upgrade it (not checked), but it runs out of ammo far too quickly to be much use in a raid or Strike, bit disappointing.

I switch between the Mythoclast and Suros Regime for PvP and yes there is an upgrade to have a larger clip. From memory it in the first vertical line of unlocks and ups the clip size to 47.

It triples the magazine size to 56, but does very little to the reserve ammo when most other guns in the game have a reserve of 9-10 spare magazines, god knows who was responsible for play testing the weapons since with the mythoclast the ammo is nowhere near enough and it was ridiculously broken in PvP.

If the only rebalancing it's getting is the damage increase in PvE, then honestly there is no point in using it, which is sad since it's meant to be one of the best and harder to obtain exotics in the game.

They've said they will be rebalancing a lot of the exotics prior to the dark below.

I think they learnt their lesson with just dropping the damage numbers to balance weapons. It doesn't work. It completely killed the mythoclast in PVP and has failed to reduce the dominance of the Suros Regime.

Also for the first time in playing Destiny, I ran out of glimmer trying to buy everything I wanted from Lord Saladin. I need to grind around 9K Glimmer today so I can buy the boots before he disappears. I don't technically need them but, I want them.

I'm in the same boat but it's a PITA to get glimmer quick. I tend to just do my usual spin metal farm with bonus glimmer consumables activated.

Do the first Mars mission, Exclusion Zone, with Heroic modifier set. At the very beginning of the mission, you get Ghost to open a door and two Cabal dropships come in with enemies. Just before they start attacking, activate a Resupply Code. Kill everyone from the first dropship and all but one Phalanx from the second. Let the last Phalanx kill you (harder than it sounds!). You'll respawn just as the doors are opening. Rinse and repeat.

You won't get much from the first dropship, but the second lot are all Majors, so you'll clear about 600 glimmer each time. It takes about 2 minutes per run, so you should get 3000+ glimmer per Resupply Code (10 minute cooldown). You'll also pick up a pile of Network Keys which you can sell to the Cryptarch. In one 30 minute run, I sold 12 for a total of 2400. In total, I made about 12K in half an hour.

Yeah I normally do that (depending on bounties) or the first moon mission with the heroic modifier. At the point the door opens use a Black Wax idol & kill everything bar the Knight. Let him kill you and then rinse / repeat.

This sounds like a really good idea and arguably better than my moon method (due to the increase in Majors). :)

what emblems/shaders do i need to get the most XP in iron banner? gonna have a blast to try get to rank 4 for the armour/weapon

The first emblem he sells once you hit rank 1 (two wolves looking at eachother on a green background). Then the Million Million shader once you hit rank 2. I am not sure if the shaders you can win by competing also count.

There is also a class item (Warlock bond etc) but that only unlocks at rank 4/5.

Make sure you also take the Temperance buff which lasts 12 hours. At this point it should be a noticable buff on XP. It costs 1 mote of light and is enabled as soon as you buy it.

I was earning about 90 rep per win yesterdy (Sunday) with all of these enabled. I think Temperance gets stronger day by day so it should be a bit more for a win now.

EDIT: Pick up both IB & Crucible bounties when playing. You will complete both (say X kills by AR) just by doing the IB.

I can vouch for this too. Fantastic method.

Also, how is it possible not to be excited for the DLC after the new video? I literally can't wait for the new raid.

+ swords in open play! Yes please.

I can't wait for the DLC to hit now. Redeemed my code Friday night (LE code) and got my Sparrow. I love the Sword of Crota mission so the idea of being able to use a sword normally.... YES PLEASE! :D

Just grabbing the destiny trial now to see if its for me or not. Any tips so I don't spend most of my trial figuring out whats what?

Just run through the story missions and do some bounties on the side once you hit the right level (won't take long). Don't worry too much about light levels or legendary / exotics as you won't be of a level to take advantage of them at the beginning. You get the fun of being excited when a green engram drops.... :o:)

When doinv the first missions, you'll be on Earth. When out and about, keep an eye out for what look like branches stuck in the ground, which have a bit of a silvery glow to them. These are cr***ing materials, so gather them. You wont need them for a while though so don't go out of your way.

Also when out and about, you can sometimes use your sparrow, which I think is an oversight from the dev team. To use it, press the touch pad and hold down square to summon it (assuming ps4, dunno about xbone).

When you hit level 4, pick up some bounties from the bounty tracker which will help a bit with levelling.

Stay away from the Crucible until later levels. It scales with level but you'll be missing some abilities.

That is brilliant did you work this out... how do people figure this stuff it is so obvious yet it blindly passes me buy i've been doing Strikes with ghost glimmer thing... no glimmer after IB and upgrading this and that to hit lvl 30. I'm a smidge of rank 5 not to bothered about the weapons but i want the shader... going to give the above ago guess can grenade myself at some point...ouch.

cheers. i foolishly forgot to bother with them when playing on saturday

Just need to level up my gear and that's two characters at lv30 now. Was part of the strangest raid last night, we did it with 5 players. Barely any communication & one player had never done it before. I expected to end up quitting out but it actually ran really well. :D

Shame my Warlock has no Light Level 30 gear other than his exotics, looks like he's gunna be stuck at 29 for some time. Not grinding IB again for Gloves/Boots when I don't even have the chest.

I'm really looking forward to the new content, might bring some players back to the game that have left for other recent releases.

You, sir, are a genius. Thanks.

You can honestly spend as long dancing with the last guy, trying to get him to kill you as it took to kill all his buddies! I try to line myself up against a rock as his power melee attack will kill you if he hits you into a rock. If you can grenade yourself though, that's the way to go. Even my grenade wasn't enough to kill me!
