Yeah 1:1 trade would be the only way it could possible work to not introduce a cash economy. Could do it through the post master like jimferno suggested just add that to get the item from the post master player 2 must give an equal item (rare, legendary, exotic) to the post master. The traded item would then show up for player 1 for collection next time they go the tower.

I would just like to be able to gift people in my friends list.

There are people who main hunters who have been after the raid chest piece for weeks and weeks, I run one as an alt, Ive had 4 drop and no boots, while they get nothing but boots.

I could have done a straight one for one trade with maybe a strange coin tax to pay and job done.

On the whole I really like the RNG loot system, it levels the playing field and allows casual players to enjoy the game to the full, while still letting the 24/7 players get all the lewts. I think the problem is more with the fact the current end-game has this bottleneck where to get to 30 everyone has to grind VoG (or IB) for the same armour set. it's the bottleneck that creates this potential for RNG-rage....cannot progress until RNG smiles on you.

If there was an alternate route to 30, maybe some way to 'over-upgrade' non-raid legendary armour with a combination of Marks + Ascendants or similar it wouldn't be a problem.

I hope The DLC provides new ways to advance to 30 as well. I still want to run VoG til I get my raid gear complete, but some variety would be nice.

What we should be able to do is loan a weapon to fireteam members. That way it still keeps the allure of being able to get the weapon but also share it. Once the match is over it goes back to the rightful owner.

Doubt very much bungie will let us swap items, but this method should be do-able.

Not sure I'd like a post system, it would create a cash economy which is rarely good for a game. Maybe a 1:1 trade items of similar class/rarity.

What possible difference would it make having a "cash economy" behind some sales of weapons in destiny. In it's current form, a postmaster trade would be absolutely fine. The glimmer isn't rewarded in the same way as MMO's and there isn't a capped amount of items (not possible to buy all of an item like on WoW and have a vendor bump prices up due to supply/demand). From the papers i've read about the impact of online farming and digital black market currencies the majority of the problem is from 'hardcore' gamers being resentful about it.

Borderlands (the game destiny failed at copying) has had this trade feature and it's been fine. It's method is s rudimentary that a player just drops a weapon on the floor and the other picks it up. Sure some people on a backwater website somewhere will want to sell for money, others will be happy to pay it. But at the end of the day, nobody gives a ****. Why do you care if someone else paid £5 for a mythoclast when you got yours from doing the vault of glass several times. If i had the option, i'd just GIVE my mythoclast to someone in my close group of mates, for FREE. Does them getting it for free impact how you play your game? No, it clearly doesn't and unless they told you i gave it to them you would never know.

Destiny doesn't have the extensive scale of economy that other games do and because of this, a trading system wouldn't be a problem at all for anyone except bungie. Low currency caps and a dire RNG with a lack of trading makes it pretty obvious bungie want to make it hard for players to get everything in order to artificially boost the games lifespan.

The resentment towards people "cheating" their way to better things is the problem at hand, not the potential for a black market. The mentality that causes people to feel cheapened or that they've lost out on something when they find out someone got their stuff in an easier way is the problem.

So I downloaded this as a trial and I've got to say it seems pretty boring so far. I've only done about 4 mission but they all seem to follow the same theme. You run across some pretty landscape, kill a couple mob packs on the way, then go against a 'boss' who simply requires gunning down whilst strafing to avoid his really slow weapon fire

Does it get any better?

Yeah of course, you get different weapons to kill them with... :p

I tried the trial recently and that was exactly what i thought. Seems like such an empty game to me. Nothing to hold interest! The ai just seems to hide or sit there.

I recently got to level 30 and while I've enjoyed the game a lot thus far, I'm thinking, what else is there to do! I suppose it's just a matter of collecting all the remaining raid weapons I'm missing and then just wait for the DLC?

On another note, my Gjallahorn is levelling up nicely...it's ridiculous! Dailies etc disappear in seconds in a hail of wolfpack rounds :D Muchos fun. Although I'll probably level up Hezen Vengeance after so I have the option of freeing up an exotic slot.

To my mind, you'd have the restrict the ability to use it, to people who were with you in the event it dropped.

So in the raid, at the end, you get a choice of who you would like to gift it to. It then gives you the list of 5 others in the raid with you, and you make your choice.

You then return to orbit, after which the chance to give the item to anybody is gone. Very simple way of letting your friends and raiding buddies benefit from your 4th Atheons Epilogue.

The game is a lot better when you play with a group of friends and just have a laugh (even funnier if you have a game of deathmatch in the process - as you can only kill yourself things can get quite interesting :D). The basic mechanics (Raid sections excluded) follow the same theme throughout.

Looking back grinding solo can be very dull. One very simple thing they could do to liven things up a bit is change the add spawn points on patrol so they don't appear in the same place at the same time..... every time... :o

what about buying an item of someone with strange coins??? i no people with 3 or 4 exotics of the same kind but only use one thats maxed out if they could sell them for 15 SC (2 less than Xur) then surely it would be better for both parties

Or make it the same price as Xur - 17 for Special / Heavy, 23 for primary?

This is a great idea.

Perfect situation where this would be really handy actually occurred to me this week. Nightfall with a mate, Icebreaker drops for me, I already have one fully maxed out, he desperately wants it.

A friends or clan, or even strike/raid only gift system would be so useful.

Whether you like it or not, the primary motivator for playing Destiny is to obtain and level up your gear. There's no traditional RPG style XP level to be obtained and no story to finish. Giving people the ability to obtain their gear without the grind would kill it off for a lot of people, I definitely would not be keen on it.

If you don't enjoy FPS gameplay, you won't enjoy Destiny. You will spend a lot of time shooting stuff. The strikes and raids add more variety to the missions but generally that is an area the game is lacking. I enjoy running around farming materials ripping through low-level mobs and doing missions. If that doesn't appeal, don't buy the game :)

Xur Items

Exotic Weapon - Plan C

Hunter Armour - Crest of Alpha Lupi

Warlock Armour - Voidfang Vestements

Titan Armour - The Armermentarium

Exotic Engram - Gauntlens
