They've definitely upped the drop rate. I've only been playing the new quests for just over an hour. So far I've been given 4 new legendary pieces of armour with light level 33. A new legendary 331 attack machine gun, 2 x legendary 331 attack fusion rifles and I've just been awarded an exotic bounty!

I've had max vanguard marks to buy new gear but it looks like i won't need them as I'm being handed stuff left, right and centre!

Nightfall done, wasn't as hard as I thought it'd be. Stay in the room before the boss and you should be mostly fine and take it slow. There are a lot of enemy waves with the boss.

VoG: 30
VoG: 30
DLC Vanguard: 33

Total (max): 123

so in theory, you can hit lvl 30 with as little as:
1x exotic (30), 1x VoG (30), 1xDLC vanguard (33), 1x old vanguard (27)

although, it will take some time to level up the DLC vanguard piece..

yeah, that seems like a pretty stupid move by Bungie XD

dayum, there's a lot of hate on reddit right now. apparently people without the DLC no longer get engrams from lvl 24 strike playlist either, and they aren't allowed to play lvl 26 strike playlist.

god dammit Activision. Let this me a lesson to ALL successful game companies -> NEVER work (or merge) with Activision, because they just want to make as much $$$ as possible and they will make your playerbase HATE you.

wat the hell?!

still, the benefit of using vanguard marks is that you get to hand pick the perks you get, rather than getting random ones.

well, there was literally 0 point in me levelling up solar and arc fusion rifles to 300 atk in preparation for the new raid then if they just give them out to everyone for free :-\

I dont get Bungie - give with one hand and take with another - just cant second guess their next move, just hold on tight when they do something good I guess :p

Why can't I enter the Weekly heroic / Nightfall then? Do you have to do all the missions apart from the Xur one or?

Well I was seriously considering buying the DLC. But now I'm just going to trade the game and move on. No way will I stand for a company removing content like this, even if it is only on the days/weeks when the new content rotates onto the Heroic lists. Heck, when the second DLC is released the percentage of weeks with playable heroics will drop even further. Screw Activision, however much I enjoy the game there's no way this will stand.
 
What i have noticed after changing from the PS4 version to the XBO version is that you get no legendary drops at all on the XBO version.

I got to level 25 on the PS4 and had about 12 shards and nearly full legendary armour and didn't purchase any of it. All was drops from strikes.

XBO version, i have put in twice the hours and nearly level 28 and haven't had a single legendary drop yet. Had to purchase everything.

Is this a known thing or me just being completely unlucky?

It isn't the game version. I have three characters on PS4, my hunter gets everything he needs/wants from drops, Titan takes a little more effort & nothing at all drops for my warlock.... Seriously.

Just completed one of the harder Nightfalls there has been in a while for.... 5 strange coins. Gee, thanks!
