They defo made nightfall a harder challenge with this DLC strike. Solo is damn tricky but as a team of 3 level 30s, with murmur, it was just about OK. A lot of stay in box room, shoot shoot, cover, revive, shoot shoot jump, repeat.

Thus far, I'm glad I'm going down the route of one pure PvP and one pure PvE as the time and commitment required to get gears and leveling is too much. Commendation per Helm or chest? RNGesus don't like me, immediately after buying a helmet, I got a legendary helm drop. Ffffffff!
 
So much effort to do this Nightfall three times and so little reward.

1. 5 strange coins - seriously
2. Legendary pulse rife - scrapped
3. Legendary handcannon - scrapped

What an absolute load of rubbish, I've had better rewards from the weekly heroics.
Not tried the new Raid yet, seems only 3-4 of my regular group got it and we haven't been online at the same time. I'll have to find a pick up group and give it a stab over the next few days.

Have this sinking feeling that Xur will have an inventory full of garbage this weekend.

Of course it would be doable. Probably 80% of people get their fireteams from r/fireteams already and that's basically a matchmaking system like any other, just a lot slower. What's the difference between an r/fireteams random and an in-game random?

You might get the odd casual that stumbles into a raid without comms and without knowing what they're doing, but that's a price worth paying for the convenience of a matchmaking system.
 
I am one upgrade away from being level 30.5 on my Warlocks now.... :)

Just need Xur to have my Warlock helmet upgrade and I will be on the road to level 31. :D (36+33+30+33 = 132 light)

My hunter was treated to some new VG boots which will help her journey to level 30. I have two exotic chest pieces waiting to be refreshed (completely non upgraded so no XP wasted) which will allow me to replace my current exotic gauntlets with VG ones and be over level 30 (27+33+36+33 = 129 light).

Heck with a 33 light helmet I will be level 31 on my Hunter as well! :D

Just need to grind for the commendation now.

I am still only part way to rank 1 at the moment. Do ranks 2-4 require more rep as with only 4 bounties a day it will take quite a while to get to rank 4...

make sure you have your class item that she gave you on when you hand in your bounties as it gives you a buff on them

Do you really think little John Smith is going to be prepared to stay in a raid for hours on end, potentially wiping over and over again?

How would matchmaking work with checkpoints? It just wouldn't.

Although I do agree the weekly and nightfall should be matchmaking.

Agree that checkpoints make matchmaking in the same way as strikes wouldn't work...but there really needs to be some method for players to find a group. The social features are incredibly lacking in that regard.

Something as simple as a staging area in the tower for the raids, where you could go and initiate gesture that would advertise you as a leader, display checkpoint and indicate that you want people to join your fireteam. Any game mechanic that requires people to use 3rd party tools is the work of the devil imo.

Free tip of the day : Remember you need 7k glimmer for each upgrade from Xur tomorrow!

Its the spangly new version :) starting at 303 attack

be interesting to see waht Xur has tomorrow. luckily i got an early finish from work so will be making the most of it.
 
I hope Xur has 1 Exotic helmet and chest per character - would be useful for all. No chance of having enough glimmer to buy everything from him which kinda sucks...

We did VOG on normal today, I had the exotic AR drop, and it's the old 300 atk version.

Exotic bounties, on the other hand, will create new 331 atk (or whatever attack it is) versions of the weapon. This applies even if you started those bounties prior to the dlc.

As for weapon drops on the new raid, well I can only assume that they will also be the new higher attack versions, but I cannot confirm this as I haven't had one drop yet.

Cheers, I've edited my post as it does seem Bungie haven't updated the VoG loot tables at all (which I'm assuming is unintentional). I believe all others have been updated, including the weeklies.

It's a design decision they made. Ideally you play as a group of 6 friends you know well, but even when using forums / Destiny LFG you still have the opportunity to recruit people with specific requirements.

When using a matchmaking tool, you have NO guarantee that your allies know the strategies or have a decent level of gear, and you also have no guarantee that they have a working mic.

Attempting either VoG or Crota raids without whole team on a mic/headset is going to be a straight up disaster.

If they add raid matchmaking, they would have to lower the difficulty of the raid, and that is something they don't want to do.

erm, why would you scrap 2 new legendary weapons..?

just cos you think they are "useless" does not mean they are useless for everyone.

5x strange coins is whack agreed, but the other rewards are fine.
