The older 300 attack weapons can still prove very useful outside of the new raid. The VoG ones especially depending on the elemental burn.
Even in the new raid they are fine. Think about it
1) you do not need 331 attack weapons to run away and kill thralls
2) you need the most damage against the gate keepr, for which you use a sword not your weapon.
3) The enrage timer doesn't kick in until you leave the central room, giving you all night to carefully and precisely take out the ads taht spawn near the crystal.
4) You kill crota with a sword, not your weapon
6) Crota's shield goes down to 300 attack gjallarhorn rockets. This is more than quick enough.
7) a 330 attack ice breaker still takes 2 headshots to kill the knight boomers, the same as a 300 attack ice breaker.

Missus and I also had a similar theory when we first played it.
There's also another theory: that we think is similar to the Red Vs Blue story. We've just made to pit against each other. Everyone sees each other as the Darkness and we fight because we're told that's the right thing for the Traveller, to protect and shine out light. Basically the universe presented to us is just another Bloodgouge.
Only thing is that theory falls apart as we don't have 'guardian' like characters on the other enemies like Hives, Fallen and Cabal. They play it defensive rather than offensive like us Guardians.
Running some Vanguard ROC if anyone wants to jump in. Maxing those marks before the reset

Haha that is a crazy theory but could be true. I prefer the one that was posted ages ago that the traveller is the darkness and the Fallen, Hive and Vex are fighting to destroy the darkness. Certainly a narrative with what little story we have in Destiny.
Now you mentioned I looked at mine:
Hunter: 1 hour 6 minutes (only level 5)
Warlock: 1 day, 16 hours, 52 mins
Warlcok: 7 days, 3 hours, 17 mins
Total: 8 days, 21 hours, 15mins.
Not quite as bad as you but that is still a lot! I thought when I ranked up 14 days in cod in a year was bad.
Edit: That means since release I have averaged 2 hours and 3 minutes a day

It's a beast for taking out bosses. I've just fully upgraded mine and it does some serious damage!
I'm really hoping the next expansion brings more content than the first. I'm bored of the crota raid already
i hope they up the attack on the weapons in the vog as that raid is much more interesting and the boss fight is 10x better than fighting crota. I'd also like them to introduce a new difficulty for vog and make it so you can get a couple of shards or energy for beating atheon on the new difficulty. Don't make the best past of the game redundant

All this talk of how good the Gallerjjjjghghghghorn is makes me realise mine is criminally under-used because I only have the Suros Regime as my decent primary and its also an exotic. I guess I need to do VOG hard and CE to hopefully pick something else up.
