Quick question, is not taking part in raids detrimental to progression?

I don't usually participate in raiding, stems from my time in MMO's, but enjoy the strikes and just pootling about on my own. I understand that I'm missing out on parts of the game, however is it a necessity?
 
well its detrimental in the sense you can't get to the max rank without it

However if you're only doing the weekly content these max out at 30 so getting to rank 31 with vendor gear is more than enough.

I wouldn't say its a necessity, but raiding is fun.
 
I wish any of my friends has ps4's, I would love to do raids, but everyone has xbones or still on ps3's :(

I can't wait to get to level 26 though

5 of my friends have destiny on same console as me yet all my raiding has been done with people from here or Destiny Lfg. Keep an eye on the raid thread stick your name forward and off you go :)

Just wonding if i will be able to progress without the expansion, (gear wise) just had a little look last night and the daily strikes on the left side are for the new expansion and so it the exoitc dude and the new lady i have just seen lol
 
Xur is for the new expandion :confused: Do mean when trying to buy the urn from Xur? As I thought without the DLC you could still buy exotics from Xur. Regarding Eris (the new lady) I am surprised if you can't do most of her bounties as most of them can be completed without DLC content but maybe Bungie locked her off.

As for progression, you can still get to level 31 through buying armour off the vanguard and crucible reps. All the mission / strikes are in rotation for the daily / weekly / nightfall so occassionally they will be a DLC mission but tomorrow / next week they may be back to an original mission.
 
Got a VoG hard run to do later. Got husk of the pit randomly while rep farming, anyone got it upgraded? I've been seriously slacking on Eris bounties, not even l2 yet :/

Xur is for everyone, it's just this weekend he had items from the DLC. You might be able to talk to Eris and do some bounties but I'm not sure.

Upgraded to the Eidolon Ally it becomes like most legendary auto rifles with high rate of fire but low low impact. Personally I think it is an alright gun as a legendary but nothing special. I am keeping it though as it seems when upgraded to an exotic it becomes an arc damage auto rifle and has the perk to make cursed thrawl explode which could be nice.
 
something really strange with 331 weapons

Anyone remember shooting gate keeper with ice breaker at level 30? Can you remember the damage numbers before the dlc came out?

EDIT: or got a gate keeper check point, i like to test with my old raid level 30 gear.

Hit Level 4 Eris yesterday - meh, got rewarded with a nasty brown emblem :( - that's it done now - no point doing anymore as it doesn't level up any further.

Only thing I've got to do on this game is get some shards and energies to level up guns and armour - cba!

i got a great idea, you can level up my Eris to level 4? still not hit level 1 yet :(

shame i can't give you my shards and energies, now have over 300 of each type :)

EDIT: maybe you should create a warlock or titan now?

Funnily enough I've got enough exotic and legendary armour in the vault for both - but I just can't bring myself to run through story mode again!

I'm the sort of person who completes a game once and thats it - done dusted. Only thing keeping me going is levelling up current weapons.

The social aspect was also a big attraction for me - this seems to have died down just these last couple of weeks so I'm dying to get a different game - DriveClub due tomorrow :) - hopefully that will last me till batman comes out.

Ahh righto well tht makes me feel a little better knowing I'm totally buggered then lol just thinking about getting back into it on my lock lol
 
you're not

the weekly will change on tuesday as it does every week and the next one won't be from the DLC.

Xur sells different items evert week so you'll be able to buy something next week.

Not helpful to your question....but on VoG hard earlier my maxed Black Hammer was criitting Atheon for nearly 21k with WoL :) love it
