*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

I'm not trying to provide counterpoints, neither am I desperate to disprove your opinion of the first DLC. You're entitled to your opinions & you're right in certain respects. lol

Well you're doing a damn good job of continuing to make points that try - but fail - to contradict my own

So far you've professed your love for playing it for no rewards, while question my motives for playing it (because i said i'd got my items and i'm done), then gone on to describe how you're "dying" and "desperate" for more CE raid weapons and said that's why you're playing the raid. Hypocrite much? :p

If a lot of long term players are leaving the hard mode raid now they have the items they wanted then i'm sorry but it isn't fun or they would be coming back regardless. So the current DLC is not something i'd recommend to the guy who'll have enough content in the vanilla game to tide him over until HoW.

Been at this a few days now, I enjoying it so far, trying to pick all the info I need so i don't'the look like a total idiot when playing. Whats the fastest way to level from level 17 on wards. Just bounties plus pvp bounties? Or completing the story mode.

That's pretty much it, story missions are worth doing the first time for the bonus exp. After 20, just do endless strikes from the strike playlists and you will gradually get the gear you need to get to lv26 at which doing you can start looking for VoG groups. I'm not sure how much you know about destiny but the game changes at lv20, its no longer about getting experience to progress, you need to start collecting gear with the 'light' stat on it.

Rabbit, you seem to provide good advice. Please could you tell me what I should do if I'm playing Iron Banner and the whole enemy team is using the Patience and Time sniper rifle?

See it's those two bits i have problems with agreeing about. There's a huge difference between lots of content (handsome jack collection, gta 5, master chief collection) and having playability (counter strike, CoD etc). Destiny is the latter. It has a below average amount of content for a game of this type, but a similar amount to a standard single player FPS like far cry. It has a basic story that can be done in less than 6 hours, challenges that require you to repeat that content and a multiplayer aspect.

The VoG was not a design masterpiece. Half the encounters could be cheesed into completion, it's riddled with bugs and the loot system could be damn unforgiving at times. It was good, but a masteriece it was not.

The thing this game does exceptionally is commit people into a gambling addiction without them knowing. Give people a hunger for wanting something and they keep coming back. Having a reward system like this one where the guns you want are completely random keeps people playing. Selling the best weapon in the game in the first 2 weeks then removing it from the loot table is a prime example. Xur is not currently scripted to sell gjallarhorn again. It gets to the point where people play it blindly because they NEED that high from getting a good drops and as soon as you get one, the previous 10 bad drops get forgiven, the lack of content is forgiven, the repetitive nature of everything in the game is forgiven. Once you step away though for a while it dawns on you the next time you log on, there just isn't anything to do.

Each to their own. I like the loot system in Destiny. In never feel like I'm playing the game to feed some addiction for gear. I play it because it's fun.

I guess if you are the kind of person that actually spends time unlocking trophies and other vacuous targets like that then you're probably the kind of person that would feel compelled to make the game a grind. Destiny is what you make of it. Don't have Gjallarhorn? Does it really matter?

Early VoG exploits aside, I still reckon it's tough to beat.

Oh and the majority of 'bugs' people complain about aren't actually bugs, they are just symptoms of dodgy network sync errors. They aren't going away.

I don't have to justify my playing the game though, I like it. I get my rewards for the week the play to help friends whilst levelling up my gear. I have every raid weapon maxed, just want a few more so there's no switching between characters/vault.

Sometimes it's a game we love to hate but you're still here complaining about it and you'll be back for the next DLC too. I'm not being drawn in any further, sounds like you need to take a break from the game tbh.

The gjallahorn was an example of underhanded tactics to lure people to gamble.

Network induced bugs are bugs none the less. They're actions that occur that werent intended to be in place. Bug, glitch, whatever. They're still there.

Only if you buy the season pass, but seperately they're £19.99 ;)

Way to complete misinterpret something!:p

Ah, a conspiracy theorist, one that doesn't understand the word gambling as well! What's the evil plan behind Xur not selling Hard Light then?

Unless every player has a 100% perfect stable network connection, you will get these artifacts happening when the engine has to sync clients. It's not technically possible to eradicate them, only to deal with some of the symptoms (a la the crota kneeling cheese).

Not a conspiracy theorist i just dont think you understand what i said. Xur selling it isnt gambling. Last weeks xur inventory was predicted perfectly with a screenshot before it happened. The thinking is the list xur sells is all preordained client side with a few small changes to the list over a few weeks since release. Like apparently hard light was swapped for something else On the week it was due. The same guy that predicted it and got it right said gjallarhorn isnt due for sale in any coming weeks. He also posted next iron banner items and what nightfall/pvp modes are being released on tuesday. He's been 100% correct so far... not really a conspiracy.

Think about it. Sell it week two, let people use it and wait for the fame to grow. Never sell it again and people are forced to use the RNG system to obtain it. Gambling for a chance to get it from nightfalls etc. GAMBLING! You pay your time to complete the mission and pray for a good drop at the end. How is that not gambling?

At what point did i say it was possible to eradicate the bugs or that they should be removed. Someone said it was a masterpiece, i said not really as its buggy. Where exactly are you planning on taking this blindly defensive point?

If you feel like you are 'paying' your time to play a game, you really need to have a think about why you are playing it.

From what Bungie have said it's pretty clear Xur's loot table is simply seeded from the week identifier. Do a bit of reading on random number generators and you'll understand how someone can 'predict' a random number.

Why make this about how i feel? Why else do most people that play do the nightfall 3 times every week? Killing crota 3 times a week because you want the crux or the helmet. Everybody talks about killing crota and what reward they're hoping for. I've never heard someone say i'm going to down crota three times this week because i really enjoy playing it. :p

I think you've probably missed the part where i said i'd stopped playing as much because i find it boring now. I've evaluated everything just fine on my own and now the game is no fun, me no play. Comprende?

That simply adds to my 'conspiracy theory' that gjallarhorn isn't for sale to keep people playing ;)

I did VoG and CE twice on one of my characters this week, because the game is fun to play and raiding is enjoyable. Good for you kicking the habit as you clearly didn't enjoy the game.

I'm glad you've learnt something about how random number generators work. Having predictable random number generation is critical to multiplayer game coding, useful knowledge for you!

Anyway, back to enjoying games for me!

Keep running through the story missions. If at any point the missions are higher level than you are, go and do some patrols until you level up. Should end up at 20 or thereabouts at the end of the story.

Just picked up the trial version on the Xbox one and have played 2 hours and a bit... Enjoying the game so far and will probably buy the full game. I could do with some friends to play with (fezfezed on xbl)

Lol kid. You dont have to take it so personally when someone doesnt like something as much as you do ;)
