*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

At least there will be a new raid eventually I guess. Perhaps they delayed it after all the glitching and cheesing of Crota?

That and how quickly people got to the point they could solo it or complete it in silly quick time.

It was just half baked when compared with the Vault of Glass.

I think they've realized that cranking out another expansion pass with 3 story missions cut from release and a rushed raid wouldn't cut it again.

So they've gone completely left field and got this new 3 player co-op challenge coming which sounds exciting.

They say the next new raid will come later this year. You'd hope this would be free, to give something back to the community. But you know what they really mean is they will put it in the big end of year DLC called "Comet" they've got coming up which the expansion pass doesn't cover.

I think it sounds great, I'd much rather they concentrated on adding different content instead of another half finished raid.

It sounds to me like it will be an upgrade path for all legendarys and exotics, I hope so as I kept my fav 300 weapons just in case

Same, I enjoyed the last Iron Banner more than the weekly raid runs, even that you have to wait months to get a full armour set. Be good to have genuine options to get to max level, PvP, PvE, non-raid etc.

After my initial reaction of 'OH MA GAWWWD NO RAID', I actually think it's a great idea. If Bungie conformed to what we all expected and churned out another Raid, Strike, Crucible Map and Story Mission DLC, then the whole community would be up in arms. VoG and CE were both completed within 24 hours of release. The hardest content in the game completed within 24 hours of release. That is simply abysmal. Take Molten Core or BWL from WoW as examples; months of grinding and wiping with different strats. Destiny should be harder and more complex, with a bigger dependency placed on gear.

The Prison of Elders and Trials of Osiris are both new modes, however the latter is obviously a more complex variant of the Crucible.

The main problem I find with Destiny, aside from no real competitive scene/private PvP, is that end game gear serves no purpose. In any other MMO, you had to grind and obtain better gear to be able to attempt any end game content. With Destiny, this concept doesn't exist. If the Arena is a progressive system with actual re-playability, then it sounds interesting, as you might be able to obtain gear which better serves the end game content.

I'm excited, especially for the Trials. Venom/Rabbit - maybe we'll actually come up against a team that lasts the full game and doesn't quit out when they're 5k points down :D

Yeah, this should be good fun :) And the fact that we get a 365 Fatebringer <3 I hope Hawkmoon drops for me before Trials starts....

They fixed that in the more recent Iron Banners, you now get tokens worth 80% of a win for each loss, which can stack up to 5 times....= no quitters (only a few anyway, who are on a bad losing streak :P)

The appeal of Destiny for me is that the end-game is 1 hour tops raiding. I don't have the time or inclination to go back to 4-5 hour raiding sessions like WoW.

That said, I would like to see more activities bumped up to level 34, Epic/Nightfall story mode, enhanced patrols and more challenges for top level.

365 fatebringer though

I stopped playing this not long after the first Expansion. Beat Crota on Normal I think once or twice. Has this game had any major changes in this time? What's new around these parts?

I'm thinking of getting myself back on tonight.

Nothing else new since the first expansion, except hard mode which really isn't worth bothering with.

Updated Iron banner is good, but not running atm.

Agreed. I've made that point a few times on the Destiny forums. Up to this point there is no proper endgame content - nothing that tests the gear we spend ages grinding for. Here's hoping a decent horde mode fixes that.

:( anything other things? new weapons? missions? Pity if they have just left the game exactly the same. I haven't played for a while anyway, so it may feel refreshed when I jump on.

If you played all of the dark below content then it's only been balancing and PvP changes since, Iron Banner tweaks and new playlists. PvP is effectively Destiny's end-game content.

So people are predicting that Iron Banner might go live when patch 1.1.2 drops today.

Also that the new content in HoW may be a Firefight/Horde mode, I think that could be quite interesting if they do it well. Thoughts?

Horde mode sounds quite interesting as it could be like a "The enemy are moving against eachother" but on steroids.

Hopefully IB will be back and have a Helmet. I want full raid gear and IB gear on my WL :p

There's no PvE content in this game that is enjoyable enough to be repeated over and over, if they do it right it could fill that gap in the game. There's a lot of mechanics they could have included in the strikes but they didn't use their imagination at all and all it seems to revolve around is killing everything on the screen. They could use a variety of timed 'waves' where you have to complete random objectives such as escort, assassination or some kind of take and hold/king of the hill mode. They can also make later waves insanely hard so it can cater for everyone. Theres nothing wrong with a horde mode where you get pummelled by massive amounts of enemies but they really need to mix it up a bit.

I had over 20 days play time on ME3 MP and that game had a fraction of the time and money spent on it when compared to Destiny, so a firefight mode can be pretty addictive if done right. They also brought out free DLC on multiple occasions which was pretty extensive, but I don't expect Bungie will do the same :p
