*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

I did the thorn bounty using epilogue, swordbreaker and truth.

if i were to do it today i would use my 365 trials auto rifle (void), praedyths revenge/astral horizon and truth.

word of crota is worth a mention too.

the best way to do it though is with a group. organise the group so you all move together. that way you can steal kills or get assists (assists count). you also have more protection (less deaths).

camp the heavy ammo with truth. wait til everyone else has used their heavy ammo (stay back for 30 seconds). then move out and destroy.

I would always pick a HMG over a rocket launcher for standard crucible. You get, what, 4 rockets per heavy drop? If you're really lucky, you might get one or two multi-kills, but I find it's much easier to get large numbers of kills with machine guns.

For something like Trials, a RL makes much more sense as there's only 3 people to kill and then the round is over.

Been practicing some PvP and trying loadouts. Conclusions : Hawkmoon is still my favourite primary. Shadow of Veils has a filthy amount of aim assist, landed some ridiculous shots taking people out in the air. Admonisher with Prix and tripod is pretty decent.

Just been doing Clash. A lot of maps I've never played before. I hope they mix up the rotation for IB a bit, same maps all the time on control is a bit zzz.

When is next IB? I bet its going to fall when I'm away on holiday....

I think IB is meant to be monthly now. I've also been trying to switch things up from my thorn+sniper loadout. Found out I dislike shotguns, I did well but I found the gameplay kinda cheap and a tad boring for me, being aggressive. Been using TLW and I really enjoy it, its not as good as thorn from a damage stand point due too the burn and there was a fair few times where the burn would have kept me alive and netted me a kill however I feel TLW + sniper is best loadout for me.

My warlock was my first and is still my preference but I do like having once of each. I suppose having two characters the same saves some time and effort in levelling up though. If you need a hand running through anything to level up feel free to throw me an invite if you're on.

Thanks :)

Up to level 12 now (just shy of 13). Blimey Phogoth was tough under levelled! Makes running it as a NF (with arc burn) seem like a walk in the park.

Thrall were actually a major threat...

Well, if Iron Banner doesn't drop tomorrow then I'm missing it for another month, off on hols. Seems likely from previous timing that will be the case, arses :/

Still, crucible has been going good, doing quite a bit of clash and skirmish. I've been trying Nothing Manacles with Bloom, seems ok but I need to get a feel for the tracking a bit better. Struggle to go back to sunsinger now that I've got used to blink...so good in pvp. Mostly for getting the hell out of the way of incoming supers/rockets :)

All the strikes suck when you are a low level. I remember doing sepiks strike ranking up my alts and it takes soooo long to take out the tank, especially when you can't use Icebreaker or Black Hammer to give you anmo.

No problem with helping out though :) it will me chance to try out bad juju/obsidian mind nova bombing on a few under levelled enemies.

i just started my third character and the devils lair strike took like an hour.

i had to use a scout rifle to batter down the tank and it was just tedious. you don't realise how hard these missions actually are until you do them with sub 20 characters.

Yeah Devil's lair was interesting. My Mrs was playing "carry" on her 32 Titan but tbh it was more a case of playing medic to me and the other under levelled person we got matched with. I felt like I was just throwing peas at everything for the most part. In many respects it felt like running the strike as a NF with arc burn albeit I was not doing triple damage.

Phogoth was even worse as I went in 2 levels under whilst the match making put us with a level 9 who died whenever a Thrall merely looked at him..
We almost wiped in Phogoths chamber when the Mrs died to a suicidal thrall and the other chappy dropped to a knight sneezing. I just managed to get myself to the relative safety of the rock with only a slither of health left. In the end it was a case of slowly chip away at his health (double digit criticals... :o) whilst trying not to die.

Whilst it got tedious in the end I also had a lot of fun. Not being able to tank anything means you really have to rely on teamwork and tactics to survive.

Looking forward to Nexus under levelled now! :p

Yeah few of us are doing the same, we are all level 10 doing Titans up. Absaloutly bores the **** out of me redoing the levels lol.... But we need some sheilds in the group.

On another note though... The guns the game gave me last night was insane, got all sorts of legendary guns now. POE34 chest dropped me 2 exotic armours and a shotgun with rapid fire! Decent!

I didn't bother with the strikes when levelling up new characters. In fact, I didn't even do all the story missions, instead concentrating on doing bounties. I think I was level 16 by the time I'd completed the Moon.

I'm only doing everything for a bit of fun. After all Moody will be level 34 as soon as she hits level 20 so I may as well make the most of it.. :)

Kind of refreshing playing through areas without my usual 365 Fatebringer / 365 Found Verdict / 365 G'horn loadout. Double checking every drop to see if it is marginally better than what I am already running.. (OMG an increase of 2 defence... MINE!). :D

I did the same last time I levelled a character. I did pretty much every bounty I could and ran the story missions on as hard a level as I could manage. I think it took me 3 days to get to level 20, without putting in a stupid amount of time. I think I did the last 3 strikes when I was already level 18/19.

On my 3rd toon I just used story missions bounties and pvp. Went really quick. Only done one mission on Mars also before I hit 20

Am I right in thinking the Taken King is an expansion same as the dark below and house of wolves, I saw a boxed 'legendary edition' that looked like a new game and read that there is a new campaign story - I'm confused is this DLC or a new game?

No.

The activision agreement with bungie called for 2 small expansions in the 1st year after launch, with a larger expansion at the end of Year 1 with a second game at the end of year 2.

The Taken king costs more and is $40. Likely be £40 with UK RRP pricing. Its not Destiny 2 and is still DLC, but its big DLC so costs more. Its all activision BS of course and its got everybody riled up on social media.

There will be 2 more small expansions after taken king before Destiny 2 is released next year.

Most of that first one is not applicable now as 'Comet' isn't standalone game, and has become The Taken King expansion.

Best guess at the moment is this :

Destiny Launch Late Q3 2014
DLC1 The Dark Below Q4 2014
DLC2 House Of Wolves Q2 2015
Major The Taken King Expansion Late Q3 2015
DLC3 late 2015/early 2016
DLC4 2016
Destiny 2 in time for holiday season 2016
