*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

It is right now. It will lose popularity if this patch achieves what it intends, but my point was that it should remain a weapon to be feared.

Or...let's balance all the weapons that are over-used because...they aren't balanced

Logic is flawed as there well always be over-used weapons. No matter what they do there will be weapons that perform better at PVP for example. I can easily see PR just taking over and everyone complaining about that, oh someone came in and killed me with 2 bursts totally OP. The Bungie just nerfs a class of weapon again.

Rinse and repeat.

Well, that was the point. With final round you could OHK someone in the toe....totally unbalanced.

Absolutely, it was too powerful, but it seems they've simply made it useless rather than 'balanced' (which supposedly was the aim of this whole exercise!). I do have a final round sniper, but can't say I ever really used it, but was just pointing out that it seems an overkill way of dealing with an issue.

It is balanced though, they have brought last round snipers inline with other snipers so they are no longer massively OP in PvP. However last round perk will still have some big advantages in PvE, especially in boss fights where crit shots aren't kill shots.

An OTT solution for an OP perk, sounds like the Bungie way to me :o

I'm struggling to think of a way to balance that perk that fixes the problem (OHK bodyshot), but doesn't make it useless in PvP.

High impact snipers are a guaranteed one hit precision kill. ANY sniper/perk combo that enables a one hit non-precision kill is OP and needs to be removed from PvP. You can't just give it a 1.5 hit kill....it's one or the other.

You quoted me but you didn't respond to my post, at least that's what I'm assuming because there was no flawed logic in what I'd written.

What this patch aims to do is reduce the current chasm between weapon usage in PvP. There will still be a tendency towards exotic primaries, especially the ones that cope short to mid range, because you always have primary ammo and the maps generally facilitate those encounter distances. How the meta actually develops we'll have to wait and see, there are a lot of changes to digest.

It's called balancing, it's an iterative process. By your logic they should just stick with whatever stats they released on day 1 for the next 10 years because balancing is pointless

I'm not saying they should never nerf, but they shouldn't just nerf cause its over used. No matter how much you balance there will be better and worse weapons. There is huge issues across the board, that this patch still doesn't fix, HC will still do more damage then most other games at range which is stupid. But just nerfing anything that is over used is also not great.

I really want too see HC doing really bad at long range, as a weapon class it really shouldn't work well at long range period, its already amazing at close range.

Usage is a very reliable indicator of the relative 'balance' of game items....especially in a game with 20million+ players (or whatever it is now), the community will *always* figure out which items/strategies/glitches/whatever give them an edge.

A balanced game is a healthy, fun game that keeps people playing. As a designer you want to let players play the game the way they want to play, not the way the crap balancing forces you to play.

after some though i think they have nerfed everything so that people are forced to buy the next DLC for the new weapons which are better.

they have already hinted at this by saying that nobody will be using the old guns when the new one drops at E3.

so they are effectively making it pay to win/play. which after all is their main aim to make as much money as they can. i don't see that working on consoles so i hope another fps game with similar mechanics/engine comes out soon.

i don't get on with the battlefield engine so it could be COD for me (another money grabbing activision title)
