Prices are just hilarious. I'm just hoping that I will be able to give the original Destiny + 2 DLCs to one of my friends that just got an XO...

I've got my destiny through the US PSN store, but I might just buy the legendary edition and be done with it. It's cheaper going through the US store but is a bit of a faff.

From that list I can buy the taken king standalone for £40, and the collectors edition add-on for what I guess will be £20, and I won't miss out on anything.

Can't see the collectors edition add-on in the Xbox store yet, anyone know when it will be available to buy?

They've yet to officially announce it as being available outside the US as far as I'm aware. No doubt it will be, but I don't think it's available anywhere yet.

For anyone going digital, it's worth keeping an eye out for good deals on MS gift/points cards and using that to buy. I bought two 4200 points cards the other day (worth £71) for £47.98. That means I could buy the digital collector's edition for £52 total, which I would've if I hadn't already pre-ordered the non-digital version.

Guess I'll have to max my Thorn then!

Was going to try running my MIDA, worth it or not?
Tbh, you're best going with whatever you feel comfortable with. The great thing about Thorn, over and above the 2-shot kill, is it leaves the enemy player weak for an extended period of time meaning a grenade or team-mate can often take them out. It's also great for seeing where the enemy player is as you can see the 7's ticking away from behind walls.

Do we know how many missions/strikes/raids etc... Are in the new dlc?

from what I can gather they aren't having set "story missions" any more

http://www.inquisitr.com/2308813/de...with-many-missions-cut-scenes-to-drive-story/

They're mentioning 3/4 new strikes, 1 new raid (larger even than vault of glass) and apparently 8 new story missions in the first act. More story missions, side quests, activities etc.. open up in the second act once you complete that first act.

Plus there's the new patrol mode destination. They're quoted as saying Patrol mode won't be easy mode any more, so expect this to be substantially harder than what we know.

Yeah, I'll pack them both and see how things go. Could be worth changing up mid match to offer something different. Constant stream of bullets from my MIDA to distract people while you guys pick them off.

I haven't been keeping track of all the pricing and options available for TTK so may have this wrong but;

The Taken King - Digital Download:

Prices: $40 USD, £40, €39.99, $40 CDN (Provisional)
The Taken King standalone download

The Taken King - Legendary Edition:
Prices: $59.99 USD, £42-£46, €79.99, $79.99 CDN
Vanilla Destiny
The Dark Below
House of Wolves
The Taken King

So if you buy the legendary edition you get vanilla, TDB and HoW for effectively £2-£4

I get the impression, and maybe I am wrong as no total count seems to be known anyway, that TTK offers less missions but more story than vanilla.

Do we know how many missions/strikes/raids etc... Are in the new dlc?

8 Crucible Maps + 3 Game Typess - Zone Control ,Rift, Mayhem

1 Raid (Dreadnaught)

1 Plant (Dreadnought) Patrol Destination

4 Strikes

8 Story Missions

+ new sub class

Sure was 8 story mission in the last DLC?

i'm not sure why everyone saying loads of new content? got less content then original destiny and costs the same price.

I read about a new game mode coming out as well, the court of oryx - http://www.vg247.com/2015/08/07/destiny-the-taken-king-adds-court-of-oryx-boss-battle-mode/

Taken King is shaping up to be very good! loads of new content. Feels like they have finally decided what direction they want to take the game in.

Has anyone preordered the Collectors Edition instead of the standard one? I know you get the Suros weapon pack in both, but I'm wondering how good the xp boost class items are.

I can foresee myself playing only TTK and FIFA16 for the rest of the year. If the items boost later xp gains with factions and item level as well as for levelling up, then I think the extra cost is worth it?

I'm also getting it digital.

8 story missions is only the first act.

They've said a whole bunch of other stuff opens up when you complete act one.

I don't think it helps with the confusion over how many missions there are. Some places report 8 and only 8, others 8 in the first arc and then an unknown amount in the second.

I think it was only 8 but comparing on price, TTK should be compared to Vanilla. Even if we get 8 in act 1 and 8 in act 2 that is still a lot less than vanilla. However if they actually get some story in to that will be good.

From what I saw the story will be much better. House Of Wolves you had the cinematic trailer and then just kinda dropped into shooting stuff. Now they seem to be telling the story more through scripted sequences and dialogue in the missions themselves. First mission I saw demoed was great.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Epic modifiers introduced onto story missions, I think it's been touched on before.
