*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

I've read the missions are meant to be longer as well, some of the base story missions you could fly through in a few mins so if they have fewer but longer and more involving missions happy with that.

So what you guys are telling me is that other than hitting Level 20 with three characters - all the rest has been a waste of time?

i.e. Levelling up weapons - The existing weapons will be 'limited' and not upgradeable anymore.

Levelling up past Level 20 is going to change so now we're going to have to 'grind' through missions (prob a gazillion times) to get the XP.

It's pretty disappointing tbh - Destiny was supposed to be a game which was around for ages and carried on 'levelling up' throughout the additions - not have to basically start all over again and waste the bajillion hours I've already put in.

Time to find something else to play I guess.

the most pathetic thing is that to get the digital download of just the expansion costs a lot more than just buying the whole thing outright!

If you're level 34 now you'll be 34 in the year 2 expansion. Not much of a grind imo.

Tempted by this but don't want to pay 40quid for it. 30 and I wouldn't bat an eye but 40 seems like a slap in the face when games like halo 5 are going out 45 digital (yes halo 5 may be a flop.. But let's ignore that point :p)

I know I'm going to put hundreds more hours into this expansion than any other game I buy this year, so even the 80 quid collector's edition is good value for money for me.

If you're 34 now, you'll be 34 when TTK drops. They're just changing the system to be like most other games with RPG elements, you gain XP to level up your character, and your gear has a level requirement.

It's not like levelling to 20 was a chore, took a few hours.

everyone knew this was coming it was inevitable.

they messed up by making the VOG weapons sooooooooooo good, it was impossible to keep making better weapons as you would get to a point every weapon was like an automatic rocket launcher with 1000 rounds.

so in order to keep people playing they have to make the new weapons better than the old but not OP. so how do you do that? by getting rid of the old ones.

i don't see how this is a surprise to anyone.

also the game is so cheap because it's 100% completely irrelevant now.

put it this way some kid buying destiny this christmas won't bother doing the vog, crota raids or POE because they will all have been surpassed. no point getting a FB when it's limited to 300/365 and you have 400+ attack weapons now.

so it's all irrelevant thats why it's so cheap.

the expansion is costing me £25 (US store) i'll plow many hours into it. therefore it's completely worth buying IMO

That's what pee's me off about this game the most. Spend all that time and effort getting them luxurious weapons then level them, just to find bungie doesn't like us all using the same weapons and nerfs them. Its a flippin joke tbh bud. Some PvP cry babies spam their forums and they change things again just to make it even worse.

I'm not one to usually complain about pricing but how's the game so cheap? - It costs £35 for the full version (albiet on disc) and us loyal players who have been here since day 1 get screwed over with an over priced digital expansion which costs more than buying the whole thing on disc!

If it was like £20 I'd be all over it (even £30 I'd be happy with), but bungie are taking the mick at £40. Those of you buying into it are just digging the hole deeper and making it worse for the long term. If we don't give them our cash I bet you they will restructure their pricing.

anyways rant over, sorry - I'll miss the epic raid sessions we all used to have for sure but hey ho; nothing lasts forever.

That's exactly my thinking at the moment. I will be spending so much time on this game I won't have time to play anything else. So for the price, I won't have any regrets.

Thats kind of the take home with Destiny. If you enjoyed it from the start you are likely to have spent hundreds of hours playing it so you have got your moneys worth regardless of its shortcomings.

I stopped playing because I was annoyed at the carrot dangling in front of me the whole time encouraging me to play for the wrong reasons. That being said I played lots of VoG and all the other things in the game and easily got my moneys worth.

Its a shame that the pricing seems so biased in favour of new players / people coming back to the game however.

Since getting back into it Destiny is the only game I want to play and I play it every day. £40 is OK by me as I know I'll play it for a long time yet.

Will we through? if you watch the interviews all they say about the level in TTK is "you will enter at whatever level you are" its a semantical argument do they mean our actually level (20) or our light level (34). I wouldn't put them past them to dump us all in at level 20 :p, but its just one of many questions that needs to be answered and will be hopeful in the upcoming twitch steams

I agree it was inevitable that items would have to be left behind, but thought that would be in destiny 2. Why go to all the trouble of giving us Etheric Light to level up old weapons/amour in HoW, only to turn round in the next expansion to take it away :(

Content wise I feel they just aren't putting enough into it. Hours wise I'm sure I'll be similar. Maybe I'm a tough critic :p

Yes, if you're level 34 now, you'll still be level 34 after The Taken King comes out. You'll just need to gain the 6 new levels to reach the new maximum of 40.

they've stated the game knows what your highest level attained was and uses that

so it doesn't matter what armour you're wearing when booting up The Taken King

There was also something about a auto leveller that will take a character from lvl1 to 34 (might have been 20 but I thought it was 34).

they've not finalized the level.

they've just said it will be enough to get a character right up to the right level for the start of the taken king story.

I already have the base game on disc for PS4, plus both DLC's. Ive pre-ordered the legendary edition on disc and my plan is to use the new disc with my current installed version and give the original base game disc to my brother.

Ill give him the dark below and house of wolves DLC codes from the legendary edition and ill just use the code for the new DLC.

Anyone have an opinion on whether this will be possible? Ta

Not sure if I will be getting the new DLC myself, cannot justify the £40 pricetag on it tbh. Had it been £20 or even £30 then I wouldnt have minded but for Bungie to charge £40 for a new dlc is just ridiculous...basically screwing us players that bought the game originally.
Sure there are new raids, strikes and story missions but I still dont think it warrants the £40 pricetag.

Saying all that though, I know what im like so in the end i'll just pony up the money lol.
