*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

What a stupid point of view. I know plenty of people who don't have gjalla who have done many many more raids and strikes than me. Either way I can get my third and enjoy one on each character :D

Bungie are trolling selling it just before the nerf. Though the notes on the nerf suggest it will still be the best just so not so OP.

The whole game is an RNG. All the people whinging about Xur selling it haven't bought any guns/armour I assume? I got pocket infinity in a drop just after it was nerfed which I wasn't happy about but thats the nature of the game. Some people are insanely lucky and others get nothing. I have seen players with almost every good weapon who haven't played nearly as much as I did. They probably played about 2/3 as much as me yet had 6-7 weapons I really wanted.

All it has done for me is finally made me quit Destiny. I've wasted countless hours doing the same **** strikes over and over to get a Gjallarhorn and then they go and dish it out to everybody.

Bungie are doing a *fantastic* job of making sure the players from this year have loads to feel good about.

Haha are you serious?

You haven't "earned" anything, you've been lucky with the RNG. You could have got it on your first strike, or you could have got it after 1000 (or like me, you could have done that and still not got it). All you did was get lucky, you didn't earn anything though

Hilarious

Nobody "earns" anything in this game. If that was the case then Phog would have had his Gjally ages ago, before me, for all his sword runs on Crota! (And for all the failed attempts at the pre-patch glitchy SOB)

It's just pure luck. If anything then the people who have put in hundreds of hours and still not had the damn thing drop have "earned" the right to buy it and experience the ridiculousness before its gets nerfed.

I *think* all I need is Vex and Fatebringer now to complete the set of guns I really want.

I played for months before finally getting an Arse Breaker. Xur sold it that Friday. He's a bit of a joker that chap.

Anywho, loving the meltdown from entitled little brats on the Destiny forums because the gun "they worked so hard for" is getting sold to anyone with enough coins.

I don't think they understand RNG. Someone could get a jelly on their first strike, does that mean they earned it? No.

They just happened to be playing the game when it fell out of the sky. There's no earning involved at all, it's pure luck.

Bit like a lottery winner going "Ha! I earned this!".

Or Liverpool winning the Premier League.

Agreed. I don't mind putting in time for known rewards, but doing the same thing over and over again for a very slim chance of what you want doesn't encourage the player. It sounds like Bungie have caught onto this tho and I'm hoping the Taken King will be a change for he better.

Pfff. I earned my Fatebringer

I remember when my ghally dropped.. I had crap weapons and was carried in a NF by McDaniel, least amount of kills and it dropped for me.. My second came from a PoE 32 chest. The whole system is based on rng, the only weapon you "earn" imo are the exotic bounty / elder cipher, vex and nechrochasm.

Being a very low drop weapon, the majority of people weren't expecting it to simply appear and knew it would probably take a lot of grinding to finally (or at all) get one.
I did so hoping I would finally get one and I did (well 5 actually so yes I have been lucky) same with all the other activities. I've been doing the VoG hoping for a Vision of Confluence for the past 6 weeks and the only reason I have kept coming back is down to the guys from here I play with as it's always a bloody good laugh.

I've simply become bored with doing the same crap over and over again, and for no reward. I'm fully accepting that I'm an idiot and a mug for expecting anything more than this, but it has taken me this long to realise that there really is very little to keep me interested in playing until TTK arrives.

Its not really about earning anything, its another thing some insecure kid can't use to feel superior, and another thing noobs LFG can't use to try and stand out.

So you have no less than FIVE of the bloody things and know exactly what it feels like to want something (Vision) and yet you STILL think it's "unfair"?

Bit selfish don't you think?

If it was actually something you'd have to earn, like Thorn or Invective or whatever and Xur sold it, then I could understand your frustration. Owning a Jelly only means you were in the right place at the right time, nothing more.

I don't think it's unfair at all. I think it's great that everyone will get the chance to use the Gjallarhorn. I am however mildly annoyed that I could have simply not wasted the hours I did and just bought one from Xur.
I know it isn't an earnt weapon in the the sense that I didn't have to do a specific set of tasks / grind specific items, but it *feels* earnt in the sense that I specifically played a huge amount of strikes hoping for one to arrive and needn't have bothered.

If anything I'm more annoyed at myself for spending so much time on a game again as I sore I wouldn't do so after my Mass Effect 3 binge a few years ago.

Like, the same as every other exotic? But it's OK for Xur to sell them?

I haven't personally been that bothered by the other exotics for the large majority. I think I used Mida until I got Fang, and then occasionally use Patience and Time. The others have been largely irrelevant to me. Gjallarhorn and the two elemental Scouts were really all I have been bothered about. It's not as if Xur has had a brilliant track record of anything that useful up until recently anyway is it lol

I so "earned" my first G'horn by picking up in the first chest on Crota's end...

:p

(and if anyone doesn't get it, I don't care about the "earning / not earning" *thing*).

I missed this post. This kind of sums up what I mean without sounding like a petulant child!

TL;DR: Gimp is a whining manchild annoyed at his own stupidity.

What's worse is that I "quit" Destiny before and it lasted less than a week before I was tempted to have a quick go. Damn you Bungie for making a game I love and hate!
