I'm just switching my play for the next few weeks to alternate characters and not hand in bounties, not that big a deal, I've neglected my other chars while I've been maining my warlock in pvp.

I am not going out of my way to ensure I have everything to power level. I am doing similar to you, picking up some bounties and just not handing them in. Though I am aiming to have all 5000xp ones just because why not but I am not gonig to grind to have them.

Watched the stream last night and nearly fell asleep it was that dull (more the presenters than the content). The Court of Oryx looks interesting enough but I fear we may have another POE on hand once we have exhausted the rotation of bosses. Also "tier 2" was a little disappointing in that it was just 2 Tier 1 bosses at the same time. They didn't show Tier 3 so hopefully that will be something different.

A glimpse of the raid was given but it was nothing more than what we saw as a glimpse for the DB (didn't really show any gameplay).

EDIT: PEr Mid_gen's post above, anyone up for having a stab at the raid on say 19/20th (Sat/Sun)? We might be horrible under equipped but it would be a laugh. :D

I am up for trying the new raid whenever we can get a group. Unlike some people I don't have time off work because of TTK....I mean an anniversary :p so can only make evenings. The only other time I really cannot do is Friday evenings as I have standing plans every Friday. We might be underlevelled and under equipped but I like trying the raid before there are guides and walkthroughs all over the internet.

Saying about being under equipped, do we know yet what level the raid will be? I have avoided most news and streams on TTK to keep it 'fresh' so apologies if it is widely known and I'm just dumb :D
 
I think they've said it will be level 41...BUT (before everybody throws their toys out of the pram), the level differences are much smaller due to the light system...so it's not like all your weapons will feel like pillow launchers.

New nightfall is l40.
 
they've not said, everybody is just guessing with the level 41 thing.

Especially as the Court of Oryx showed enemies at level 41 in it. (for tier 2)

The way they ramped up the difficulty from Tier to Tier 2 was just to add more bosses, and up the level.
 
If they stick to as before then it makes sense that hard mode is 40 or 41 but normal would be (this is assuming there is an normal mode) around level 37 or 38.

Either way, might take a week or so before raiding is a possibility.
 
I imagine there will be more emphasis on the light required (recommended) rather than the absolute level itself.

It would be surprising though to see the "Normal" raid make us feel weak being at max level (40) with new legendaries (~280 attack/defense thus 280 light).
 
I'm usually not fussed on raiding for the first week or so, happy just to get to grips with the game and take my time. Won't be racing to 40 or anything like that.
 
Does anyone have any preferred 'guides' to Destiny for the combinations etc. I started playing quite heavily when it first came out but kinda wained off it over the expansions so I have a Titan lvl 33 and yet to do anything with the other two classes. I rebuilt my desktop so spend most of my time on that but have pre ordered TTK so will be looking to get all the characters up to scratch etc before 15th.

My brain will work at some point today. I had forgotten that level and light are being seperated in TTK. Guess we shall just have to wait and see as to when we will be able to raid.

We should get a 'blind' group together of people who aren't going to look up guides/walkthroughs of the raid so we can all go in blind and see if we can figure it out. If doing this then it probably would be best to arrange it for a weekend when people have more time.

My main problem has been not being able to do raids due to it not being matchmaking, have done a couple via friend requests on reddit and also the POE stuff is almost impossible if you're a 'lone wolf' finding two randoms on the tinterweb to try push through it.

The ToO is the same, the one thing I always thought Destiny could do with is matchmaking (even if it perhaps capped the level of engrams and rewards you could get as opposed to a higher level for a group of mates in a fireteam) throughout but I suspect the reasoning is that they're trying be an MMO lite.

So in terms of what I'm after it's probably the weapon and armor combinations and how to get them etc that's why I was wondering if anyone had a guide they referred to online as I appreciate there would be an awful lot to explain due to the numerous avenues such as factions, classes, game modes etc.

Also it is probably common knowledge but I haven't seen it on the past 8/9 pages - are bugie going to allow people to trade with each other anytime soon?

I am deliberately not looking anything up on the raid. I have only seen the teaser that followed the Twitch reveal yesterday (was nothing more than a trailer). I want to go in blind as well. :)

That's kinda why it's not matchmade though. Stuff like the raids and PoE is supposed to be difficult, so you're meant to do it in a group of people who are willing to communicate with each other. In matchmade groups that would not happen very often, plus you'd get people going AFK and expecting to be carried through it.

To be honest there's not much point in going all out to try to get certain equipment now, as it will all be outclassed when TTK comes out. None of the current legendary gear will be viable long term as all the new TTK gear will be far better. You'd be far better just getting back into the game slowly, doing stuff like the nightfalls and weeklies rather than trying to get specific weapons.

Having missed the release of the other raids I definitely want to start this one totally blind. I feel I missed out by starting raiding once everyone already had them figured out.
 
I need a primary weapon that has void damage to do the thorn bounty again. Is there one and if so, where does one get it?

Word of Crota from beating Crota on Hard mode, or Atheon's Epilogue from beating that raid. Or you could just run around using a Void shotty all the time.

I'll just get my other classes up to 33/34 over the next few days and then store some bounties etc and push on from the TKK material. maybe put some more effort into looking for fireteams around here too.
