*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

I am deliberately not looking anything up on the raid. I have only seen the teaser that followed the Twitch reveal yesterday (was nothing more than a trailer). I want to go in blind as well. :)

Having missed the release of the other raids I definitely want to start this one totally blind. I feel I missed out by starting raiding once everyone already had them figured out.

Well that is 3 of us then :) I missed VoG as by the time I was high enough level people had run once or twice already. CE, while not as good as VoG, it was interesting trying to work it all out. TBH if, as Bungie claim, TTK raid is more like VoG then I don't expect we can work it out as I don't think most people will spend 16 hours or however long the very first VoG completion took :p

I'll just get my other classes up to 33/34 over the next few days and then store some bounties etc and push on from the TKK material. maybe put some more effort into looking for fireteams around here too.

As Davey said TTK stuff will replace anything you have now though there is still some general guidance but most of it comes down to personal preference. For example if you want armour with INT (for faster super) DIS (grenades) or STR (melee) depends on how you like to play. It can also depends on whether you only play PvE or play both PvE and PvP. I think most people who have been around a while have multiple sets. Same applies for armour perks i.e. there is no point having a perk for carry more ammo for auto rifles if you never use auto rifles. About the only guidance that is universal is try to get boots that allow you carry more heavy ammo. It doesn't really mean much for heavy machine guns but means you can carry 2 or 3 extra rockets.

As for firetimes, I don't think Bungie will add match making to end game content. A lot of people argue against it but TBH all the problems of why not to have it are all countered by simply doing what most people do now and have a full fireteam before starting events. If you want to join raids, ToO, PoE etc. keep an eye on the Destiny Raid and PvP thread. There is enough people on both consoles that it is rarely difficult to get enough people together.

I'm up for doing it blind...guess we'll just have to see how long it's going to take to get up to a sufficient level to have a decent crack at it.

I did the Crota raid blind on day of release, up to the bridge section anyway. It was one of the best experiences I've had in Destiny. I remember at the end of the Abyss section being the only one left alive right as the bridge formed. I turned to sprint over it while the rest of my fireteam were screaming in my ears to run and not look back. Heart pounding fun. I'll definitely want to be doing the King's Fall raid blind as well, either on the Friday or Saturday.

I think getting to level 40 will take no more than 8 hours or so, or however long it takes to do all the story missions and new strikes. Getting the best gear is another matter though, no idea how long that will take.

working out the raid is the best part of destiny. the bridge is the best content in crotas end but everyone just wants to cheese it

we have enough AFKers in strikes and PvP. Why would we want the same problem in raids by having match making

There are problems with matchmaking however just because they add it doesn't mean you have to use it. We are currently forced to arrange a group to make a fireteam to then launch in to Raids or PoE. Even if they added matchmaking you could still continue to do this and avoid the negatives of matchmaking like AFK'ers.

Yeah that is the great unknown :( I shall stick a post in the raid thread to get a full group together for a blind run with time TBA.

Put me down for the blind raid Greboth, I missed out doing the last 2 from the beginning and swore I'd get in on this one early, can't wait TBH. Now to fit work, destiny and phantom pain into a schedule, I can always get a new job lol.

Nope, no trading. Never has been, probably never will be.

I think something like how its done in D3 where you can trade with your part for 2 hours is not half bad. Like if where grinding a raid together and I get a 2nd pair of something I could give it too someone that needs it. Doubt it happens, but while playing D3 it has worked out really well, the items are still really rare and you would have had to been in the party while it dropped.

Tuesday 22nd will be the first day I'll be available to have a crack....if people get geared up before then don't wait for me :) I'll post one up for the 22nd closer to the time.

well no you dont have to use it but it gives you a degree of control over your fireteam. if you get randoms filling the slots it can cause issues. if someone uses LFG/forums/etc to find a group they are likely to pull their weight. admittedly i think bungie got it wrong thinking everyone had five or more friends who would want to raid but thankfully the community responded with some great tools to give more people access to the best content.

maybe i just have had more rubbish experiences with matchmaking but dont think it would work in a raid

The tools the community put together are one of the main reasons Destiny is what it is today. Without them all I don't think it would be anywhere near as popular as it is now.

fantastic arent they! i did my first raid with a group from here and done quite a few using reddit fireteams.

i think the game is developing quite nicely. whilst many complain that its been just a long beta I like that bungie listen and evolve the game to be better

I'll give you two weeks before you start solo'ing it :D
