I've been away for a week and so I'm a little bit behind but just wanted to know what the deal is with the quests:

Are there any quests that I shouldn't be completing? There seems to be confusion over whether completing some quests before Tuesday will result in losing out on loot?

Is there any benefit to completing the Abandoned Quests? These are just the previous story missions which pretty much auto-complete, but I'm not sure if they should be giving out any sort of loot or not.

For the Field Test weapons, can they just be dismantled after completing the testing? I assume the purpose is just to get rep to rank up?

Yep, you don't get anything for dismantling them and you can grab them again if you want.

Only thing that brings you down is class items and ghost but you can buy a new ghost from the speaker and you get a class item when you complete the quests. Even with a 3 light ghost and 150 class item my, maxxed armour and un-upgreaded weapons my hunter is 151 light.

No idea bud, ive lost the plot with these new changes.
All my characters are level 34 with maxes (360) weapons so no idea what 136 means!! What did others get at the start?

136 seems about right. My characters were around 145 with the vanilla Ghost and a low light level class item. Just buy a Ghost from the Speaker and complete the first quest to get the 160/180 class item, and you'll be 160+.
 
No point doing anything.

Every time a new DLC comes out Bungie want you to ditch all your old weapons/armour and grab the new ones. They have done this by effectively nerfing all the old gear.

So by getting all the old weapons your just wasting your time.

Wait til tuesday then start grinding for gear. Nobody will be using their old weapons for long when the new ones start dropping as they will be doing more damage, armour will give much higher int/disc/strength values, etc as well as defense.

You may as well throw everything in storage apart from your favourite few and wait until TTK to drop.

You can get a legendary version of the strangers rifles for doing one abandoned quest chain. Not sure about others.

As for test weapons I kept mine, so once you've done them you can dismantle? Can you do the same one multiple times for gunsmith rank?

I seen one bounty/quest which said to get to Level 30 light, I'm already level 34 - errr, woot?

on a side note has anyone received there codes from GAME yet for pre ordering ??? my CE was shipped on the 11th but no word on the codes yet
 
I'm pretty much ready to the TTK now. Just messing about doing a public even each day with the Mrs to ma 5k bounties available. All characters have 16 bounties to "cash in" when the time comes.

Finished off the gunsmith bounties on my hunter which tipped me over rank one thanks to the NF buff. Hated the sniper but loved getting kills with the fusion rifle. I am liking some of the new maps and especially the lack of Thorn (I haven't been killed by it once!). Auto rifles feel good although it is taking me a while to get used to the new "meta". It is weird as sometimes it almost feels like I give up expecting to be killed by Thorn only to realise if I had bothered I would have killed them.

Roll on Tuesday now.

Can't wait for the OCUK Raid attempts.... (Davie - please don't get EVERY weapon drop on your first run through... :p)

Yeah, I especially love that new map with the Vex timegates that fling you over the canyon. One can't help shouting "Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" as you fly across and shotgun someone in the back. :D
 
One thing I did notice doing the new quest structure - Eris doesn't send you off on that kill Urzok malarky, collect eyes, shoot the Hands of Crota, etc. Weird.
 
I'm so confused. I got the Celestial nighthawk from Xur and it has a defence of 170 yet when I google it the defence is 491. What am I missing...
 
Cheers. I assume that weapon damage has had the same applied to it? What is good damage for a weapon now? Base damage I mean.
