Wow 10 coins used and not one single exotic engram for me. Keep getting stupid triangles ie ether seeds lol. Got a million of them so don't need more lol.

**** you Destiny and RNGsus...always getting screwed even before TTK lol, took me a long time to get anything decent before TTK and now it's the same ole crap lol.

I have been playing this today and thought the same thing. Also annoyed that there was a kill a load of things to collect ship links in the second expansion, just a lazy way of padding it out.
 
Are you not meant to get legendary marks for dismantling all your old weapons and armour?? Just dismantled most of them although have kept the exotics for time being but all I got was materials and a few motes of light.
 
Bah I just ****ed up and thought I could trade my mote of light for strange coin nope turns out I just bought 19 motes of light fml :/ anyway I hear the challenges best way to earn more, where are they I can't see em on map :s
 
Has anyone managed to do a mission called "Fear's Embrace"? I'm on my 10th or so attempt at it. :(

EDIT: Posting on this board is a good luck charm. Just did it. :D

you only get Legendary marks from dismantling TTK legendary gear. You will still only get motes and parts from old gear.

Thanks mate for clearing that up.

This game really has a lot of content lol. But now stuck at 240 light for the past couple of hrs and not really getting anything good.

Any ways of getting my light level up fast, I'm just doing the quests and it's not helping me much...keep getting crap engrams that are lower light. Tried doing the daily heroic strike but got smashed about a gazillion times lol.

Whenever you get a new piece of equipment that is higher light than your current one, equip it even if it's not as good. The engrams are decoded based on your light level. So eventually you'll climb up and up. Engrams seem to be dished out like they're going out of fashion. Even shooting baddies on patrol causes engrams to drop frequently.

Stick around the Court of Oryx. If there's a few people with runes, you'll get loads of engrams from the fights.
 
I found the Strike playlists was best for levelling up fast. You get tons of engrams from them, even the standard playlist. Also, stay in the playlist for as many strikes as you can stand as the rewards get better and better.

Turn them in to the Cryptarch one at a time - if the item you get is higher light than what you have, equip it before turning in the next item.

The longest I've gone without getting a drop is 8 kills. The best run I had was getting 5 engrams to drop out of 6 kills. All in all, it does seem to be evening out to around 1 in 5.
 
Is there any point in playing the patched version of destiny if i don't have the TKK? If i finish it and decide i want to play on, can i buy a disc version of TKK and my progress will carry on?

Did it with the Mrs on about the 10th attempt. The boss fight is just chaos. I found the trick is to snipe the boss and save rockets for adds.

Has anyone "enjoyed" the start of the shank strike on the heroic playlist when it is Taken instead of Fallen/Hive? Holy balls that is tough. I have done the strike on the heroic level without an issue but when it was that start I just couldn't get past it.

EDIT: Anyone up for a NF tonight around 8PM. Mrs and I still need to get that done.
 
Me, AStaley and Pearson had the joy of the Taken at the start of the heroic shank strike, it was a real treat! It's the numerous Captains with their blinding attack that suck, avoid one attack and then straight into another.
