Okay, so it looks like a lot of Destiny’s Exotic quest difficulty levels have been ramped up to 10 and then a little more.

The new Exotic Black Hammer quest ( Black Spindle ) sounds so hard, and seems to require at least light level 300.:(

They do need some planning. You definitely need 3 people, we were all 290~. We wiped twice because we tried to use the entrance as cover, which just doesn't work. You need to push in and take down the blight orbs asap.
 
Flippin' hell. The Black Spindle defeated me. 3 hours of trying and I had to stop to get to bed. I wish AStaley and OweO best of luck! They might have done it when I wake up. :D

They do, but not very quickly. Once you've cleared the 5~ in the room to begin with they spawn 2 every 30 seconds or so. This gives enough time to clear the mobs and do some damage to the boss. I was using my rockets on the blight orbs because I could keep up my momentum around the room and fire dumb rockets straight at them.
 
Well, just finished the first storyline quest for The Taken King having finished all of the Year 1 story quests. Blown away by just how much improved it seems with the big setpeices happening on the Cabal base (I felt a pang of sympathy for the Cabal trapped in the falling lift :()

Finally having proper cutscenes in the game is glorious, especially seeing the Class vanguards in motion for the first time. "Could you please get your rock off my projector." :D

Anyway, me and Biron quickly discovered that, no, you can't run Vault of Glass with just 2 people. Quickly realised that you'd need a lot more people to activate all three glowy areas :p

Tried twice earlier, got the boss down to about 10% health on first attempt, not many adds left that I could see but still a failure, second attempt the door wouldn't open even though we got there much faster so we just finished the daily. Might try again later though I don't think we'll do it due to light level, the guys in the youtube are high enough to make it a fair bit easier I suspect.

Me, Dunzer and Corey got this done. The key is too destroy all the big black orbs when you get into the boss room, those will keep spawning crapping. The first time we just focused on the boss, and we did get him down but we just couldn't take care of all the carp. 2nd time we just managed the orbs and it was pretty easy.

The weapons is pretty nice, drops with 310 light and you can get it again at 300 light, I used it too get my 1000 yard-stare to 300 :D.

Yup we got it done with Turbo's help.

Didn't think we were going to make it but managed it with 2 seconds to spare... :eek:

Made the NF seem like a cakewalk in comparison.

Aye, we roped Turbo_Nutter in and have just managed to get it done. Two on the boss the other shooting adds and the orbs, we had 2sec's to spare.

OweO and I also got a rather nice looking ship as well.

You can, me Parko and Martin managed it using this tactic. The number one priority in that fight is to keep on top of the orbs. I was rocket launching and shooting at them from that cover and keeping on top of them while parko and martin were attacking the boss. We got the boss down with 2:30 to spare and no orbs around. Left plenty of time to mop up.

Helped I had my walking SAM site setup of Rocket Launcher with Tripod + Clown Cartridge, along with Taikenaught helmet to give it tracking and drop more heavy. Must have fired near on 20 rockets including my heavy ammo packs.

Saw rooster doing the daily this morning so jumped in and legged it for the door, but it was shut by the time I got to it. Rooster was 230 ish light so from what I read it wouldn't have been a lot of fun!

I think the issue with the 310 exotic is that it enables people to infuse a load of gear up to raid levels.

I think a guaranteed 290 exotic is ample reward for a single mission, even if it is tough. Nowhere else in the game do you get an exotic that easily, any guaranteed exotics are at the end of a long quest chain.
 
Thinking about it, i'm not actually sure they can edit the roll of the weapons we already have dropped.

They couldn't go back and remove or edit the weapons people had already with the BS shotgun rolls or the final round snipers. They had to edit the perks to try and remove the imbalance.

The nerf may not turn our 310 guns back to 290. Will have to wait and see.
 
Off course they can edit things. The same way your items all went from Light +42 too +170 when 2.0 dropped. It's just a value in a Database, it just has some risk which is why they won't do things like this often, and are saying they will fix it in the future. It gives them time too test all the edge cases and make sure it doesn't have any weird side effects.
 
I think I may enjoy using handcannons a bit too much... And the 50p+ Auto rifle kills are only from upgrading Husk of the Pit.

DeeJ has already said that Black Spindle's attack value will be getting reduced, he also said they're aware people are using duplicates of it to boost the attacks of other special weapons and those are safe from any action. Me, Corey and Moe managed to get this on our 2nd try, as others have said you need to be getting rid of the orbs because the boss is honestly the easy part it's the minions after which take up a lot of the time.

I got all my special weapons that I like up to around the 296-300 mark by duplicating it. I'm not too fussed on the 'nerf' to it, it's an exotic weapon and a pretty good one at that so I still think it was worth the work.
 
Could work for you guys, taken from the destiny forums:

Ok guys, everyone should do this. Use the 310 Spindal to upgrade another weapon to 310. Then after the patch use that 310 weapon ( and others ) to get another Spindal back to 310.

Deej just stated that the weapons the spindal was infused into won't be affected, so after the patch goes live and the "bug" is fixed. We infuse another spindal, which isn't affected by the bug, upto 310 and it's a legit 310 Spindal. So it can't be downgraded again to 290.

Or Bungie could just not waste their time, and leave things be.
