*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

Anyway, me and Biron quickly discovered that, no, you can't run Vault of Glass with just 2 people. Quickly realised that you'd need a lot more people to activate all three glowy areas :p

That attempt didn't go very well :D Hopefully I'll be at level 40 soon and then I can start getting some decent gear. I'm just on blue stuff at the moment.

Could work for you guys, taken from the destiny forums:

Ok guys, everyone should do this. Use the 310 Spindal to upgrade another weapon to 310. Then after the patch use that 310 weapon ( and others ) to get another Spindal back to 310.

Deej just stated that the weapons the spindal was infused into won't be affected, so after the patch goes live and the "bug" is fixed. We infuse another spindal, which isn't affected by the bug, upto 310 and it's a legit 310 Spindal. So it can't be downgraded again to 290.

Or Bungie could just not waste their time, and leave things be.
Except that you'd need something to be around 305 for it to reach 310 when infusing it. If your weapon is 300 and infuse it with a 310, it'll reach about 308. Then when you get your next Black Spindle, using that 308 will get you to 306 max. Not ideal, but it'll do I guess. Well, it would if I actually got the weapon. Was far too tired to stay up as late as I wanted to actually get it finished.

That daily thing to get the spindle was brutal. After a few attempts we gave up, we just weren't putting out enough damage and I think we were all a bit tired.

Need to up my light more.

A couple of questions:

If I want to swap factions to get all their weapons, can I do this and then go back to my original one without any issues, or will I start at level 1 again?

What can I spend motes on? I've still got 400 odd so could blast through a few ranks on different factions, assuming I don't need to keep them for anything else?

Well, just finished the first storyline quest for The Taken King having finished all of the Year 1 story quests. Blown away by just how much improved it seems with the big setpeices happening on the Cabal base (I felt a pang of sympathy for the Cabal trapped in the falling lift :()

Finally having proper cutscenes in the game is glorious, especially seeing the Class vanguards in motion for the first time. "Could you please get your rock off my projector." :D

Yeah the TTK is so sooo much better for story than anything prior. As for the raid...

Throw a post in the raid thread if you want to give a proper go. VoG normal is level 26 IIRC which is only 130 light so shouldn't be too hard to get to that level. Whenever you want to do it, if I am available I am happy to help. Get 3 or 4 experienced players in the group and it should be possible to get through OK.

Is 300 the maximum Attack/Defence you can get from the game without going into the raid?

Yup.

You keep your rank when you switch though I believe only the faction you are alligned to will show at the bottom of the quest screen.

Motes of light are good for trading in for faction rep, you need 125 per level but as you get 5 back when you rank up the net cost is 120 motes. You can also go to your inventry and use them as experience to rank up weapons and armour. I haven't come across any but I believe some quests require you to hand in 20 motes. AFAIK that is their only use, there is nothing you can directly buy with them anymore.

You keep your faction rep if you swap.

You can "use" your motes to level up equipped weapons and armor. You also need them to infuse weapons and armor to up their attack / defense values.

Guys, are any of you available to help out with quest line Taken War: Earth? This is the one where you need to eliminate 3 high ranking Taken on Earth. I've down two. The third is the mo-fo called Stirok, who appears in the Rocketyard.

Two of us managed to kill the three Taken captains spread across the Rocketyards, which is a prerequisite to then make Stirok appear. Hes a bugger to kill as there's so many ads causing trouble. If you don't kill him soon enough he disappears.

Anyone up for helping me out for 10mins?

Cheers, looks like I'll be levelling a few factions levels this evening then. Hopefully I get something decent!

Yup he is a PITA to kill. 3 of us did it the other day by all using supers and picking up eachs others orbs. I think we all used 2 supers and however many rounds of primary, special and heavy ammo. I wont be on until tonight and running the raid again tonight but happy to help any other time so feel free to drop me a friends request.

Thanks pal, request sent :)

well you can get in to the vaults with two people, its getting past the oricles that's the biggest problem.

When you spawn in, jump on your sparrow and head to campus 9. stay there for 2 - 3 minutes then head back to the vault of glass door, park your sparrow along the door (should find a section of the door that is a bit more of a recess) and jump off the sparrow in to the door. This will put you in the vaults.

A mate and I have been doing this as we were looking for the 4 ghosts that are in the vaults :)

It's looking likely that when the vault mission comes up again that there will be a similar special instance as yesterday's daily. So I'm sure from now on the dailies will be scrutinised massively! Will be interesting to see how these things are dug up as it's certainly a mystery at the moment!

Also opens there realms that there could be a similar mechanic with nightfalls..!

Few things I've picked up on, I have weapon parts which seem to be the same as when the game came out, but the armour parts? whatever they were called, seem to have changed, yet I have a load of the old ones still in my pack. Can you swap them over to the new stuff?

Also, I've got armour from the vault of glass raid and a few bits from the quests leading up to the Crota raid, is it worth upgrading that stuff to the new light levels with the etheric light? Same with the old legendary stuff?

The armour materials (hadronic essence, plasteel plating and sapphire wire) were replaced by a generic armour materials. Your two options for your old parts is trade them in for faction rep or if you can exchange them with the vanguard vendor near the shipwright woman.

Upgrading the armour depends on if you have TTK. Assuming you do then no, in my opinion it isn't worth upgrading. Pre TTK armour will max at 170 light however you will soon surpass that with TTK armour so the old armour becomes redundant. It may be worth keeping some bits for PvP though as defense values don't matters in regular crucible. For example I have kepy my ram helmet as the perks are nice in PvP and I have kept my VoG boots as it allows me to carry more heavy ammo.

Edit: Same applies for weapons, they will all be surpassed by TTK gear. I have kept quite a few of my old guns, some because they are good in PvP and others for sentimental reasons being they are raid weapons.

I've got a full set of raid armor for all my 3 classes and full sets of the raid weapons, plus other queens wrath and prison of elders gear. I just can't bear to delete it. I've already gone round and deleted my normal legendaries from year 1 and all my exotics that have a year 2 version.

I know that I'm going to have delete more, so the queens wrath and prison gear will be next. I daren't think about what happens after that. I waited so long for my praetorian foyle !

Its still good for camping in crucible, and old activities like vault of glass, but essentially be prepared to put it in the vault, never use it, and look back and think of the memories.

I still remember the first time I saw somebody with one on Cosmodrome Patrol, back in the second week of destiny and the lootcave. We were there with out crap blues and some guy just rocked up and shot everything with his icebreaker and never needed to move and get ammo.

I was in complete awe and said to myself "i gotta get me one of those!" ahhh... the memories.

God knows what I'll be like hoarding armour and weapons if my WoW character is anything to go by...

In fact, it's already started :p Still got the very first weapon and armour set that you get when you start a new character (that Khvostok looks sweet though).
