*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

According to the Wiki the Raids (Vault of Glass) unlocks at lvl20. I am getting together with some friends to play :)

I know when it unlocks :) I also know that Destiny typically doesn't let you do stuff if you're not close to the recommended level. For example, when the nightfall was level 30, you'd have to be level 27 to join it. Vault of Glass is a level 26 activity, so you shouldn't be able to do it at less than 23.

Is Crotas End the one where you find someone Praying, Shoot them and loads of enemies inc a mad wizard (Crota?) comes after you? I almost did that bit on my own last night.

No, that's just a standard mission. Crota's End is a raid. You'd know it if you'd done it, you start by jumping down into the hellmouth. If you're level 21 you couldn't even get into it, it starts at level 30.

I think with a group of 2 experienced people you could sherpa complete noobs.

Wouldn't fancy trying golgoroth with only me knowing what to do.

OcUK has its own LFG service. See here:

I've found the amount of people specifying must jave black spindle and must have emblem from previous completion a bit ridiculous. 2 weeks its been out, what ****s.

Makes it very tempting to join groups with emblem equipped and keep stepping off plates gor a giggle haha

Cheers for that :)

It's the ugly side of Destiny and one that makes it very off putting.

I was hooked, racked up 2 and a half playtime in the first week of TTK's release, but now I'm at the point I need to raid, I've sort of gone right off it again as it's already so elitist again. I thought it would take a while given everyone is still on fairly naff gear, but nope...

Is it too late to get into this game really? I don't really play many FPS but like to dabble and I prefer ones with loot etc like Borderlands. If I do get it what do I buy? The original game or the taken king, sorry for noob questions.

Edit: I think the Legendary edition has everything I need.

Get the Taken King edition with all the DLC, it's so much better with all the DLC.

That depends, on the PS4 nope.. No one talks at all really lol. On the Xbox? God knows, I know it used to be more vocal on that side last gen.

Found it for just under £40 which is a lot of content I guess. Is this the kind of game where some 14 year olds are going to scream at me for being crap?
Possibly, but you have a load of guys here who play, so just make sure you play with us lot and don't be afraid to say you're new. The Destiny community (in general) is one of the most helpful I've been a part of, they're always happy to guide new Guardians as they go.

If on PS4.

Add me ZG002

Going to be staring a new character myself soon, so be good to run through with new people

Same goes for anyone else really, have a Hunter to use for current content :)

Add me.

Yes it is.

There are terrible stories from people who have formed groups on matchmaking websites like Destiny LFG where you get impatient children who quit at the merest sign of any difficulty and don't want to play as a team. You get the know-it-alls who will shout at everybody else then proceed to **** up themsleves and blame everybody else.

But thats the same of any game, the key is to find your self a good community to play it. You've already found one if you're posting on here :)

Cool, and yes I'm on PS4. I am literally one of those who could have all the time in the world to take a shot and end up twitching the stick and shooting around the target rather than at it :)

I have to say the couple of Strikes I have done so far have been great with randoms. I didn't have my voice chat on but we could team together etc with no issues. I am sure the comms will be necessary in future on raids and huge bosses.

People quitting out of strikes because they are too difficult is an issue, but most tend not to use voice comms with randoms.

Problem with the raids is that everybody is in chat together, and fingers start pointing when people make mistakes. That leads to arguments etc.. Its what you'd expect when you throw 6 random personalities into a raid and ask them to work like a team and get on with each other. Sometimes you'll get a good group, but more often than not there's an idiot in the group who makes it worse for others.

In my experience it's usually people forgetting to back out to orbit at the end of their previous strike. Then the next one starts and they instantly leave. Hardly seen any rage quits but maybe I've just been lucky.

I think the Court of Oryx with randoms is a perfect example of why matchmaking for raids would simply never work. All the bosses are simple enough to understand, even the tier 3 bosses, but the amount of people who just pay no attention is just ridiculous. Quite often in the Court we've managed to beat the boss in spite of other people there, not because of them. That would only be magnified tenfold in a raid.

Its amazing the number of people who have obviously never run sword or done crota properly. The number of people who must have been carried by cheeses etc.. must be huge.

The mini crota boss last week saw people

1) running too far away inbetween swords, or not starting to run from the back of the arena until too late

2) people who couldn't even hit him and smashed the sword down next to him and missed

3) people who had no idea of timing and jumped too early / too late

4) idiots who despite having all the above wrong with them persisted in picking up the sword and making the same mistakes time and time again.

5) people who couldn't learn from watching others run around the back of the platform and insisted on jumping down and messing up the jump back.

6) people who didn't bother to shoot mini-crota with anything more than primary ammo or never bothered shooting at all.

There is one person I play with who doesn't have a mic, and that's Tehbluebear from here, but usually my rule of thumb is no mic = no play. There's no excuse, a PS4 comes with a headset and even then they're cheap as chips to replace. Obviously people have times when kids are in bed and whatnot and that's perfectly understandable but playing with people who flat out refuse to talk is a no go for me, you're a burden to your team.

Anyway, Bungie obviously decided that hunters weren't OP enough :p
