*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

Found it for just under £40 which is a lot of content I guess. Is this the kind of game where some 14 year olds are going to scream at me for being crap?

I've only ever been in parties with kids on a few occasions and I've used LFG more than most. In my experience they are about 1/50 people but maybe they are more shy on average and don't speak over comms.

To those complaining about the requirements for groups on LFG, just make your own group, nothing is stopping you. The problem with randoms especially when the going gets tough is people quit and then it takes time to find a replacement and then you need to go over the strategy again...and then someone needs to have their tea or walk the dog...its a nightmare. Having high requirements lowers the probability that the above will occur, so I do sympathise with people who advertise somewhat. Saying that I don't put unreasonable requirements when I advertise a group myself, the fresh Oryx group I advertised the other day didn't require 300+ light or experience but we did end up getting some committed players than enabled us to complete the raid.

BS isn't it. I've been off sick the last two days and thought I might give it a go on LFG this afternoon. Alas I am only 293 light and don't qualify apparently!

Blimey. I think I was at something like 287 light on Moody last week. I think I did ok all the way to Golgoroth. I know Oryx is 300 recommended (so 290+ is preferable) but heck you have to start somewhere!

According to the Wiki the Raids (Vault of Glass) unlocks at lvl20. I am getting together with some friends to play :)

Is Crotas End the one where you find someone Praying, Shoot them and loads of enemies inc a mad wizard (Crota?) comes after you? I almost did that bit on my own last night.

Er the raid "unlocks" at level 20 (for some daft reason) but can't be accessed until you are at least level 23. Realistically you need to be level 25 as the enemies at Atheon are level 28 on NM.

No Crota's End has multiple "stages" and a big Green dude at the end (Crota himself). It pales in comparison to VoG but it is a bit harder (more challenging) than killing the Heart of Crota.... :p

Yes but I'm a Titan and I can't do that so it's OP ;)

As for LFG, I haven't used it once. I run a gaming community (the one in my sig) which is really great. All various ages, geographical locations, sexes, races, the lot, and everyone gets on well. We have some fantastic nights doing whatever everyone feels like doing and we all get along very well. The Destiny clan has over 200 members, about 30 of which are regulars so there are always people to play with. We always hop in each other's chat parties and organize stuff for everyone to do. Due to the variety of players we have, there is always at least one person to play with but on average the minimum is five. Due to this LFG is redundant for us, we never deal with elitism, idiots who want 500 boss kills before you can join, and we all understand that we all have to learn and will be more than happy to explain things.

I've said this so many times before and nobody ever bites, then I see people getting annoyed with LFG which is such a shame. We're not looking for clan members, we're not looking for commitment, we're not lpoking for experts or people who can play at ridiculous times. All we're trying to do is build up a community of like minded people who we can play with without having to deal with the negativity and hostility that LFG brings.

I've sent out a few FRs but only a couple have been accepted. If you're looking for folks to play with, send me an invite and jump in a chat party with us and get to know us a bit. From there send out some friend requests to others and start building a network of people you can actually have a good time with and you'll never look back at LFG again.

I agree that finding a suitable group from LFG is hard.

I disagree that the best way to find a decent group is by posting up crap like "must have black spindle" "must have emblem" "must have 300+ light" etc..

Its pathatic and bungie knows it as well. That was one of the reason they nerfed the top tier weapons like gjallarhorn as so many groups on LFG were stating you had to have to do Crota and wouldn't let you in the party if you didn't have it.

Black spindle isn't even that amazing but already some are stating you must have it. Its like the people who stated you must be rank 34 to do hard mode vault of glass.

Its stupid snobby elitism and does nothing to get you better members of your raid party, and does nothing to solve the problems you talk about, other than put off good players who may be able to learn, or be plenty good enough, because they don't match their arbitrary stupid requirements (speaking as somebody with the Emblem, with 300 light and a Black Spindle)

I remember well the discussions on here about the LFG sites when they first came out, I never had any issues with them, despite being told repeatedly they would never work and I'd never complete anything with randoms on there. Unfortunately some people don't have a choice. I can't raid in the evenings so getting a group on here was pretty much impossible, leaving me with the choice of either not raiding, or using the sites. As Reeve said, I'd just create my own group and ignore the ones with stupid req's.

When I was unemployed at the end of last year I used LFG loads, I'd complete VoG multiple times each week using it and it was fine. The current elitism is mainly down to how few people have beaten the raid and how the mechanics are still not known to a lot of people. In a few weeks when everyone has beaten it and knows the mechanics properly I think it'll ease off and be a bit more welcoming again.

Is nightfall still supposed to pay 25 marks? just did it with m8 on Xbox and both given 12 b****y strange coins again and neither of us given marks

I didn't say it was the best way to find a group. The best way to get a decent group is play with people you know who are skilled and dependable but that's not always possible. Like it or not experienced highly levelled players are the next best thing. Some requirements are silly and I don't condone listing Black Spindle as a requirement as its simply not necessary(I don't even use it) and not everyone will have it. It only really comes into its own on the Ogre/Knight fights and lack of damage has never been a problem in these from my experience.

You don't know the players you get from LFG and light level is one measurement on how effective they will be, this is why it is used. Same as the raid emblem, it shows you cleared the raid so you can't be completely useless. If someone wants to clear the raid multiple times per week and cant be bothered with the hassle of coaching people each time then they should be able to put up their groups with 300 light/raid emblem requirements without getting stick for it, after all the average 300 light player with emblem will perform better than the average 295 light player. The people who are happy to coach others or are new to the raid can put up their own groups, everybody wins. If people put up dumb requirements just ignore them and find another group.

No, 25 marks was the reward for completing a nightfall as part of the vanguard questline. It was a one-off reward. The nightfall is becoming less relevant IMO - you don't get the XP buff, you don't get a large chunk of faction rep, and a lot of us have a ton of exotics from Draksis farming.

Cheers for that, nightfall is a bit pointless now, just that i thought it paid marks each week

290 light is enough for King's Fall.

The kind of people that ask for this emblem and that grimoire score are the kind of obnoxious ***** that make raids difficult anyway....I always avoid them.

Tried the100.io this afternoon...did King's Fall up to Deathsingers with only 2 having been in before (one of them me who had only done one)...nice run, no aggro, no one complaining about gear.

I can't be bothered with the nightfall any more tbh. The exotic chance isn't far off a single Three of Coins anyway so you might as well just rinse dailies/heroics.

I think I'll always give the nightfall a try when there is a burn, but if it's a pain then I'd just sack it off. You'd get just as much loot, if not more, from running a few vanguard strikes and using some 3 of coins as you go.

That may have been me, I love that thing. Best 150 marks I've spent :)

Hung jury SR4 i think its called??...damn nice rifle and makes a lovely sound...just fully upgraded mine and infused it to 294 level. Its one of my fave rifles, quite fond of the Suros DIS 43 rifle too although its only a 280 level weapon.

Got a 300 arc shotty and my god that just slices through enemies like butter although its a slow rate of fire and takes forever to reload. Got an invective last night through a legendary engram drop and again immense shotty and currently upgrading that. Never really enjoyed shottys much but then i was the same with hand cannons will i got word of crota and fatebringer then i was in love with them.
