Which numbers or the ones in the reddit posts? Frodders misquoted the numbers. According to those reddit posts agains Oryx
Touch of Malice; Final round does 1,678 and depending timing totals between 26,848 and 33,560.
Sleeper; Hits for 15k a burst and there is time for 2 burts so 30k.
I can believe those figures unless you know something otherwise. So ToM hits around the same as sleeper but without the cost of any ammo leaving special and sleeper for hitting ogre's.
Sorry, I should've been more clear. It's not that I don't believe the numbers per se, it's just that there is a big difference between theoretical DPS and the best way to approach the fights. Let me break it down how I see it...
Deathsingers: A solid team with a good relic holder should get at least 35 seconds worth of DPS against each Daughter. If you have 35 seconds, I don't believe anything will even come close to the damage output of the Malice. You're shooting constantly for roughly 5k per crit without a need to stop or reload. Sleeper may well do a lot more damage per shot, but you're taking a lot of time per shot, have to reload every 3, and after 7 shots you're out of ammo. You're either using a synth or moving to a sniper. With a sniper you're not going to crit every time as she moves her head a lot. The constant DPS from Malice coupled with easier headshots will win every time here.
Oryx: The damage you do against Oryx is pretty much irrelevant here. All you need to do is stagger him to stop him wiping you. The bombs are what does the real damage, and 16 bombs is all you need, so basically what you're after is a consistent way to stagger him while his chest is open. A team with 3 ToMs will achieve this easily without anyone else even having to shoot. The other 3 can be on add duty while the Malice users stagger him. I guess the Sleeper could do this as well, but again you're reliant on ammo that may not drop from enemies. Using normal ammo for the Malice is obviously a lot more efficient.
Where I will say the Sleeper would probably be more effective is against the Shade of Oryx. You don't want to be using Malice too much in there as your health doesn't regen while you're inside. I normally switch to a sniper here instead but I think the Sleeper could be very useful here.
I guess an ideal team composition could be 3 guys with the Malice and 3 with the Sleeper. Best of both worlds then.
