*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

Which numbers or the ones in the reddit posts? Frodders misquoted the numbers. According to those reddit posts agains Oryx
Touch of Malice; Final round does 1,678 and depending timing totals between 26,848 and 33,560.
Sleeper; Hits for 15k a burst and there is time for 2 burts so 30k.

I can believe those figures unless you know something otherwise. So ToM hits around the same as sleeper but without the cost of any ammo leaving special and sleeper for hitting ogre's.

Sorry, I should've been more clear. It's not that I don't believe the numbers per se, it's just that there is a big difference between theoretical DPS and the best way to approach the fights. Let me break it down how I see it...

Deathsingers: A solid team with a good relic holder should get at least 35 seconds worth of DPS against each Daughter. If you have 35 seconds, I don't believe anything will even come close to the damage output of the Malice. You're shooting constantly for roughly 5k per crit without a need to stop or reload. Sleeper may well do a lot more damage per shot, but you're taking a lot of time per shot, have to reload every 3, and after 7 shots you're out of ammo. You're either using a synth or moving to a sniper. With a sniper you're not going to crit every time as she moves her head a lot. The constant DPS from Malice coupled with easier headshots will win every time here.

Oryx: The damage you do against Oryx is pretty much irrelevant here. All you need to do is stagger him to stop him wiping you. The bombs are what does the real damage, and 16 bombs is all you need, so basically what you're after is a consistent way to stagger him while his chest is open. A team with 3 ToMs will achieve this easily without anyone else even having to shoot. The other 3 can be on add duty while the Malice users stagger him. I guess the Sleeper could do this as well, but again you're reliant on ammo that may not drop from enemies. Using normal ammo for the Malice is obviously a lot more efficient.

Where I will say the Sleeper would probably be more effective is against the Shade of Oryx. You don't want to be using Malice too much in there as your health doesn't regen while you're inside. I normally switch to a sniper here instead but I think the Sleeper could be very useful here.

I guess an ideal team composition could be 3 guys with the Malice and 3 with the Sleeper. Best of both worlds then.

Dear mother of god almighty, this farming for materials for the exotic sword is frustrating to say the least. So far I've managed to find 6/10 crystal relics and about 6% of void kills lol. Whoever at bungie thought this was a good idea needs shooting to say the least lol :p

least you earnt it.

Not like gjallarhorn in year one where you just waited for it to drop.

Well to be honest the amount of strikes, nf's and raids I did whilst I waiting for the gally then finally dropping one...think I earnt that lol.

Just seen a few of the new emotes that are part of the micro transactions with Tess Everis, gotta say I quite like the new 'Carlton' dance:p. Think I'll be buying that as long as it's not a silly price. The other new emotes look cool as well.

I know how much you love PvP... But the kills % racks up much faster in crucible.

For the kills I did the Dark Below mission. It took me maybe 20mins to get 60-70% of the kills. Depending on your class things can go either way, if your a Titan you can just pop up a bubble, wait for it to collect all the ads then just stick 1 with a grenade, saw some dude doing that and he was getting an easy 10%+ each cycle.

If you think that's bad, I did all 3 exotics swords on one character, in one weekend. 30 of the rare materials, and 1500 ability kills. That wasn't a fun weekend.

The best mission to do the kills is easily Siege of the Warmind, in the corridor before the final room. There are 2 Knights, about 6 Acolytes and nearly 40 Thrall. You can kill them all in about 3 minutes then just suicide off the ledge to repeat. I did all 1500 kills here and it took me probably 2 hours to do the lot.

Oh dear god no, if I can avoid crucible then I'll do everything possible to avoid it lol. Plus trying to get those 25 kills on my nightstalker class in crucible wasn't working for me. It's only when I went blade dancer that I managed to get those 25 kills.

Will keep that in mind, gonna try and get material farming finished then do the void kills.

The exotic quest is the most annoying grind they've ever put in Destiny. Whoever was responsible for designing that step needs a good solid kick in the nuts/vag.

Agreed. It is however totally worth it. I have all 3 exotic swords now and they're beastly. I was bored last night so took the Raze-Lighter exotic sword into the Court of Oryx for some testing. No-one was around so I decided to run a tier 3 solo. I took down the Ogre fairly quickly, sprinted up to the top, and 3 R2 attacks killed the wizard before I could barely blink. The damage output is insane.

I eventually have all this to look forward to when I finally get another sword on my Titan. I accidentally sharded my one on my Hunter :/

I went for the arc one as love the thought of using the projectiles from it too. Most of all, cannot wait to use my Titan bubble shield + sword as a combo. Get medieval on people :D

At the moment I'm going for the void sword, it's sat at 294 as I've infused it with another weapon. It causes quite a bit of damage but I'm looking forward to the exotic version of it.

So if I wanted all 3 on my hunter, how do I go about it or am I just limited to the one I chose or the void one. All 3 subclasses are fully levelled up.

On the talk of swords, does anyone know if you can do the quest for each sword on the same character? I got my void sword on my warlock but infused it on my titan so my titan has the quest. If I pick up the arc sword on my titan can I do the quest on my titan or will I need to ensure I transfer it to my Warlock before infusing it.

Edit: Also, once you get the the exotic does it replace the legendary or do you get to keep both?

Yes it's possible, and here's how you do it....

1) Get your basic legendary sword on each character, the 220 attack version one

2) Transfer all swords to your Hunter

3) Infuse all swords to 280+ and fully upgrade them, making sure you pay to fill in all the nodes in the upgrade tree

4) Using whatever sword you already had on your Hunter, complete the 50 Major and 25 Crucible kills part of the quest

5) Complete the next part of the questline, killing the named dude in the Founts on the Dreadnaught (can't remember his name, but this bit is obvious).

6) At this point, all 3 sword quests will activate at the same point, which is to get 10 of the special planetary materials, plus the 500 ability kills.

7) Wait for Armsday (Wednesday)

8) Complete the special version of the Sunless Cell strike, either doing one sword at a time, or trying to get more than one.

9) Profit

I did the above, and I was able to get all 3 exotic sword quests done on my Warlock. I only had to run the Sunless Cell strike twice as I was able to get my Void and Solar swords done at the same time. You ideally need a fireteam for that strike as you need to kill a particular Knight and then the boss within 30 seconds of each other. These Knights (one of each element) appear fairly early into the boss battle, so if you're playing with randoms they may well kill the Knight you want to keep alive.

It's not exactly easy, but doing the above skips the Crucible step of the quests for 2 of the swords, which is probably the best part to skip as it's one of the hardest to do.

To be clear, you have to do the 500 kills separately for each sword, so you can't skip that stage (and likewise have to farm diff materials for each). I've not had the willpower to even look at the second one yet!

Looks like the patch is out. My progress so far... "Preparing to download (0%)". Wonderful.

Why does Playstation do this "preparing to download" and "preparing to install" nonsense anyway? You never see that on PC software or updates.
