You close to getting a new level with any factions? Might be worth throwing some motes at them if so. The package you get should have 4 coins in it.
What do you do with the motes?
Use them to upgrade weapons, armour and subclass perks.
Just go to your faction of choice and there will be an option to exchange motes, ammo synths, weapon parts or armour parts for rep.

omnigul farm - 100 weapon parts in half an hour i'm led to believe or it may have been an hour
I mainly use motes to fast level new equipment, like during a raid if the new drop ups your light level and you need to quickly unlock some of it's abilities.
I chucked like 3-400 parts into dead orbit the other day!!!
How are they suddenly so rare? I've not played properly in a while but since TTK came out and engrams dropping like mad, I quickly got up to a crazy amount of weapon parts in the few weeks I played non stop. Did they lower the rate at which you get when you dismantle weapons?
Each upgrade node on a weapon costs 5 parts. 10 if it's exotic. And infusion also costs 10 parts. It all adds up to people burning through a lot of weapon parts.

They essentially halved the rate they dropped at.
I have been running steady at about 1200 but honestly if I didn't already have 1200 going into TTK I would now be struggling.
I'm down to my last 30 or weapon parts. Stupidly before ttk, I had over 1000 but went nuts and traded all of them bar 20 to dead orbit lol.
Slowly trying to get more but not as easy as it was before ttk. Sometimes bungie just does he most stupidest things when they try to improve the game
