Using your tactic BoomAM, I beat Varese 3-0 in a pre season friendly. :) Will try the tactic later, going to have some lunch and am expecting a mate round for some PC help.

Just loaded FM up and I forgot I need to confirm a £35m transfer for Micah Richards. Do it or not? I have Wes Brown, Justin Hoyte and Daniel Alves for RB. Barzagli/Pique/Vidic/Rio/Evans/Tuia for DC.

I think it would be worth it but I want the consensus of the other OcUK FM fans. :)

Er on this particular save game, £19.25m for Andrea Barzagli. On FM08 probably about £45m for Leo Messi.

I got Hoyte as I'm just messing around on this save game waiting for 8.0.2. :D And he was cheap.

It can depend. Some clubs have minimum release fees of £100m+ and won't accept anything less than the minimum release fee. Others have minimum release fees but as you say the board or chairman will overrule the manager and accept the bid.

It could be related to how much cash the club has as a whole. If you are giving a club with £5m in cash £250k a week wages, the board might not allow this and give you £55k a week which is within their £5m cash reserves.

Erm, is a league playing all teams twice? I'm only up to the 12 match!
Yeah should be 2 games for each opponent in your league, one at home (for you) and one away (for you).

So 20 teams in a league means 19 opponents and 38 games. Not playing the demo are you?

Also can someone give me hints on training, I've removed the ticks from the particular coaches weak points and split the ticks evenly-ish between the three guys strong points, is that right?
That is a good start. You also need to make sure that each training area has as many stars as you can get. The more stars the higher the quality of training.

Should I look at hiring a really good assistant manager?
Yes. You'll want someone who is maybe pretty good on judging player current and future ability although scouts do this for you. Tactical knowledge and determination are good for an assistant manager in case you get a touchline ban and they have to manage the team for a match.
