Seeing as you don't really need a new striker now then perhaps leave it until you need to worry about one.

Course Corradi could be really quite good in the future and one of a few strikers worth it so it could be cheaper and easier to get him now.

I already own him?.
Er the other one then?:p

Just noticed, ive got a £10m signing from Sevilla incoming? Didnt know i signed him? :p.
CA/PA of 150/197, AM LC. Gonna loan him out till the end of the season, then he's Rosinas replacement.
I like it when that happens. :D

I sign a player and then realise in the summer I already signed someone for that position. :p

Never trust stats. Always trust Scout reports (if they have at least 18/18 on potential and current ability). They take into account the hidden stuff you don't see in the game (which external programs do! :D) but you probably know all this anyway
I always use something like FM Modifier to see the player's hidden values. :p:o

I posted this separtely, and then got told off by Marc :P So thought I would attach it to here.

PC Gamer had a further 1 page update on FM Live this month, and I for one am looking forward to it. How about you guys? Anyone else looking at it, and liking the idea?

If there are a few of us, a possible OcUK League could be created? Has anyone managed to make their way into the Beta?
FFS! Spelling man!

:p

Still, anyone at all interested in it?
I'm not really interested in it from a playing it point of view. It would take up too much of my time and I don't really like playing online games for this reason.

I would be interested to see how FM Live affects the development of the FM series. Does it improve the main FM game or will it slow it down because of the SI Games team having more products to update?

Also will FM Live help FM out by getting more customers introduced to and interested in the FM brand and thus increase the number of people playing FM, perhaps finally leaving CM for the proper footie management game. :)

One can tell that one has not read up on FM Live. Basically, one of the Collyer brothers (I cannot remember which) returned to SI after a long break travelling with the idea of FM Live. He was given the goahead to put it into production (which he obviously did). However, he did it on the proviso he could use his own team, thus not taking anyone away from the actual FM based team.

So basically, its the same game just using two different sets of developement teams, so there wont be any adverse affect on the production of FM09 or development of updates/patches etc for current versions.

The Beta for FM Live has only used a small number for game servers. However, the finished article will have servers depending on the users availability. For example one server is for people who want to play as real life and have the games on a daily basis, seasons lasting a matter of weeks etc.

Whereas there is the other end of the spectrum, the server world for those like me who can only play in the evenings (between 10pm-Midnight) so the game isnt as quick and no-one gains an advantage.

So, your little time excuse fails :p
Actually I have read up on FML. :p

SI Games is still working on two versions of the game. Yes its two teams but still one company. And there will be some people responsible for checking both out. ;)

Anyway, after doing a quick google search, can't seem to find any news on FM09. Its usually out around September/November but i was hoping for a couple of leaked bits of info.
There have been some rumours but SI deny them all. Its still early for them to tell us about FM09 release date and features. In the next 2 months they will I reckon.

Anyone wondered why you've never been able to alter the price of tickets for fans? May be one aspect to be able to change in the future? Just a suggestion anyway. A steady increase once you start winning tournaments etc to help cash in on your success but overdo it and you might alienate fans and lose a bit of revenue.
You can in the editor but not in the game; you are the manager of the club. The chairman/owner of the club would choose ticket prices not the manager.

The poll results are very surprising If you ask me. 32% won't get the new game? Seems like a high number. I suppose you can look at each years game being more of an update rather than a brand new game.
Yes. A mate of mine hasn't bought FM08 instead staying with FM07. He feels that not enough happened between FM07 and FM08 to justify the £15+ cost of the game. He thinks by buying it every two years he'll get better value for his money.

Ye i thought that as well but you can adjust the budget for transfers and wages, surely that would be more of the chairman's effort to sort those aspects out?
Well in FM08 the chairman sets the wages and the transfer budget. I suppose a manager could do what he likes as long as his total wages and transfer budgets stay within the confines of the original wage and transfer budget set by his chairmain. Plus in FM08 there is a point when your total wages is within a certain distance of the maximum wages that you can't move more money from wages to transfer.

Ah yes. My love for Utd is too hard to beat. :(:p I just can't cope with the idea of not managing them and also taking over another team that could have to play them in Europe. :o

SI usually release the newer versions coming upto Christmas and I would imagine that this would be the same, it won't be before the new season at the earliest.

However, with FM Live being released around August time (hopefully), and although it is being programmed by a different set of staff than those making FM09 I would imagine that SI will not want to release the two too close together to avoid sales being affected.
It'll be last week or two of October or first week or two of November. I'd put money on last week of October to first week of November. However I think FM08 came out earlier in the week than was planned. SI Games like to release their FM games on a Friday to give players the weekend to play it rather than get sacked from their jobs for not turning up during the week. :D

But last year some naughty shops started selling a few days early to try and get some sales, so when SI realised this they rang the other retailers and said start selling now. So this could happen again but we are realistically talking about nothing more than 72 hours as the shops would need to have their stock with them to do this. Course this annoyed me as I'd ordered mine online and so it wasn't despatched until the Friday and then there was the postal strike to contend with. :( Didn't get the game until over a week after release.

As Marc said. This is a chairman responsibility, and therefore something that us, as managers would not have any say in. However, I would like the option of being able to negotiate our own Sponsorship deals when the originals run out.
I like this idea. Course anything we suggest now will be considered for the FM10 release. :D

It is difficult to think that someone like Ferguson or Wenger wouldn't have a little influence in this area. :)

I'd like to see more player influence in the pre-season friendlies. I think the manager would have near 100% control over how many, where (home or away, tournament, foreign tour) etc, against what opposition and when (how many days between) as having 2 pre-season games in 3 days isn't funny.

I'd like to be able to say 5 games over 20 day against foreign teams in say China for a money spinning tour or against top teams in the US etc. :)

I find that if I manage my favourite team, in my case Spurs I usually get annoyed with the players if they don't perform as well as they should, and am a little to harsh on them.

That said, I always play my first game on all new releases with Spurs and have a save game probably around 8-9 seasons in with them.
I know what you mean. I often think "Your real-life counterparts just won the title, why can't you?!" :D

Also, if you didn't play as United you would probably find that they tend to struggle after a few seasons. Mainly because the AI cannot get to grips with the Glazier style debt forced upon you.
True. I never play long enough into the future before losing patience :o and starting a new game but a mate tells me that Man Utd/Arsenal/Chelsea/Liverpool etc get relegated in the late 2010s/2020s. :(

Course I don't because although the Glazers haven't ruined Utd (yet!) I don't like the idea of losing millions a month even though I win matches so I erm delete the loan debt and remove the Glazers from the game. :)
