I am doing OK with Man Utd using SCM's tactic. Interestingly I notice that my MCs hardly score at all.

Scholes has played 13 games scoring 1 goal. Anderson has played 26 games scoring 3 goals. Carrick has played 18 games scoring 2 goals. Hargreaves has played 19 games scoring 1 goal. Fletcher has played 3 games and scored 0 goals.

I have Scholes and Hargreaves set to long shots often yet they score nothing. In FM versions past Scholes especially could score loads of goals from long shots. So is it FM08 changing the match engine or can I tweak the tactics for my MCs at all?
 
But if the new tactic will overwrite the current tactic on your FTP account doesn't that rather defeat the point of making a new link? They'd both be the same? :confused:

Scouting them all now. Trying to get VDV to replace Scholes so that I can choose from Anderson/Van Der Vaart which I think would be a nice situation to be in. Only got £6.6m at Man Utd so I will have to wait until the end of the season and get some money for him.

Already done. ;) Only had £151k at one point. Couldn't change the ruddy budgets as it was transfer budget into wage budget only for a time. Worked it out and got £6.6 out of the tight fisted board.
 
Yep I agree. The number of ruddy MCs my scouts find is annoying! Find me strikers or wingers or keepers. :mad:

Although I am finding all too often that my scouts will come back from a region and tell me that they found no players at all! I mean all I want is a list of decent players aged 18 or younger.
 
Yeah I see what you mean. I've seen the same player mentioned by several people all playing FM08 so I know he has to a) have the potential to be good and b) become ruddy good yet my scouts say there isn't much point in getting him. Unless the game is making the scouts compare the scouted player to my squad. So if the current ability of a player is nowhere near the current ability of the best player I have in that position the scouts say he's rubbish even if his potential ability means he could rival or even beat my equivalent players in the future?
 
Haha yeah. I love that. Player X would be the 11th best central midfielder in the squad. And he's a decent buy. Right so someone who is about as good as a rubbish reserve team player is a decent buy?

Edit - Jimmy Briand for £13.75m + 20% future fee. Worth it?

I see what you mean. My scouts only ever say someone will be brilliant. Sometimes I doubt this so I check the player out in the Editor and find his PA is quite low.

I would say the scouting is probably the poorest area of the game for me.
