Download Instead of Stream [Patch]

http://forums.precentral.net/webos-...touchpad-browser-download-instead-stream.html

Does what it says on the tin for files which normally stream (MP4 streams from native video player). I'm pushing files to device over WiFi from an internal web server.

Works but downside is it seems to hang the device while it downloads it fully. Somehwat annoying.

Does Advanced Browser support proper downloads?

Is it possible to access media files (e.g films and music) that are stored my desktop computer?

E.g I have a set up a home network and can access films stored on my desktop, with my netbook. Is it possible to do the same with the touchpad?

Handbrake re-encoded video looks absolutely stunning :D The speaker quality on this thing is pretty damn impressive also.

Very very happy.

Aye I did UP and Star Wars III both 720p mkv using the above handbrake settings, look excellent on the device and file sizes were pretty small! :)

Aye, the speakers on this can be pretty loud. They aren't bad at all, not too tinny.

Plus, you can tell people it has Beats Audio and be all hip and cool. Oh yeah.

You can use Sin Chase's idea which kinda works. Install the IIS feature on your windows PC (normally add/remove windows features). Then add the directory to your web (or move files to the ftp root). Allow anon access and then browse the ip address through the touchpads browser.

thanks a lot I will investigate that option.

You can run IIS/Apache or other web server on your PC on the internal LAN (Can publish it outside if you wanted external access also) and browse your PC via the Web Browser and download files.

It's what I plan to do :)

There might even be a nice Web Based 'Explorer GUI Like' Flash/Java/HTML web application you could host on it for this purpose. Have a Google :D

Am I right in thinking that this will allow you to access files only by dowloading them? or would it allow me to stream a film for example?

I am using pretty much the same settings as you in handbrake. For comparison:

i7 @ 4.5GHz (So has HT)

1.4GB 720P MKV > 1024x576 (Locked Aspect Ratio), Same FPS, No Filters, Same FPS as Source, AC2 @ 160, 0 B-Frames

13 Minutes total, ~105FPS average.

i'm starting with a 1080p DTS mkv, if that makes any difference!
