*** The Official HTC Desire (Bravo) Thread! ***

Well Vodafone are calling me in about 15mins to sort out a deal, was just about to leave early on lunch for the Vodafone store too, will see what deal they offer and go from there. if I get a good deal they are getting stock on Monday so I should have the phone Tuesday \m/

How did you get on?

Vodafone's quidco is now up to £150 cashback for a contract phone. What are they like has anyone ordered a Desire from them and are their contracts any good?

That is highly annoying! (In a good way) :D :D

My contract said it was +500mb internet and not unlimited. Does this mean I'm more likely to be charged extra for going over just in case?

I make sure I do stuff like that on my Wifi.

I do most of the time, but I was at work. I was pretty much agreeing with you though, you'll only likely to go over it if you start making large downloads :)

Voda? You'd better check with them, as I understand it some contracts have a 'hard' limit of 500mb, others a 'soft' limit where they wait for you to hammer it over a period of months before they ask you to cool it.

Mine has just arrived heehee :D Charge faster damnit!

Would loading an unbranded HTC ROM void my warranty/insurance? I don't want all the orange crap on it. I can deal with the logo on the back, but I don't want to be stuck with trial versions of crap apps.

^^^Yes it will and since you will be hard pressed to get the exact same default ROM back onto the device at the moment, I would leave it for now.

Sigh, wonder what O2's reasoning was on getting the Desire so late compared to all the other network providers..

Don't think I can wait 2 weeks longer

He's suspended again, so can't reply :p

Afaik Vodafone is a Fair Use Policy. If you go over the odd time by not much then you will be fine. However if you are a persistent offender they will contact you.

Check the second post from a Vodafone bod.

Anyone elses Desire rattle around the 3.5mm socket area? Another chap on the AV forums mentioned it intially which got me thinking if anyone else has this... don't know if this would qualify for a replacement though?

Haha so he has. :D

As for 500mb guys it's enough. I've used my Magic and tethered it to my laptop when I didn't have internet last year and I used around 3Gb in a month, general internet use and streaming ipayer and didn't hear anything from Vodafone and nothing was added to my bill for that month. :)

Check the second post from a Vodafone bod.

"If however your data-bundle has a specific limit, such as the 1GB iPhone bundle, or one of the Mobile Broadband plans, then these are a defined limit with no Fair-Usage Policy. That means as soon as you exceed that stated limit, there are automatic out-of-bundle charges placed on your account."

Think that means I've got a 500mb static limit :(

Can anyone help, I cant seem to find out how to get my mobile internet to work on my desire. Got phone and wifi connection at home working but when I'm out and about I can't access email and internet at the moment.

I've checked the settings but cant see what I'm doing wrong.

Sod it, I've ordered! Credit check was all fine obvs so I just wait for delivery now :D I can't wait!! Bit nervous about the 500mb data limit but most of the time I'm either at home or in uni with free Wi-fi so I'm not too bothered. Main internet usage I do is news/weather football scores and share prices so I'm not really a heavy user, the only time I do this away from wi-fi is at work 3 nights a week and in my car bored.

500mb is quiet a bit, ive used ~50% of my quota so far on t-mobile which is a 1Gb limit (it may be 3Gb for me as im a t-mobile direct customer), although i have been using it quite heavily, browsing and downloading apps on 3G/H instead of using my wifi.

Khaaaaaaaaaaan! has emailed be back. :)
