Has anyone got voice dialing working on their desire? I've heard people are getting voice-to-text to work but voice dialing is kind of a big thing for me!

Desire does not support voice dialling. Once connected BT works fine on mine, but voice>>>>>dial

This thread, started in 2008, is still relevant today. Page takes couple of seconds to load.

i may have to stop the phone fb syncing contacts as its putting phone numbers up with 44etc but without the + in some cases and i CANT add the zero, if i make a new number it doesnt appear!!

Just ordered this Sim Free. Can't wait to get it, been looking for a new phone for quite a while, had the Sony Xperia X1 last(Still in it's 18 month contract period now), and I got sick of it pretty quickly, even with cooked roms, never performed up to a good standard IMO.

So went ahead and got this after much reading, thought it was about time I gave Android ago :).

Plus, when my contract is up in January, I can look at another phone to play around with haha.

I'll be reading though this thread for any advice & apps that people recommend.

I would go with Orange, but their handsets are branded which really annoys me, defeats the purpose of android... I have read that GMail/GTalk doesn't work either?

True, although there is the off chance it won't be branded, e.g. my black Nokia E71 is completely not branded. Even if it is, should be a simple case of sticking a clean ROM on and if really anal, then picking up a clean replacement back cover et voila

I have the branded Orange handset. It's not all doom and gloom. It's a simple Orange logo on the back and on boot and they've added Orange Maps and their own app marketplace (in addition to the build in Android equivalents) to the list of apps. They've also changed the Internet logo.

Gmail works fine so I have no idea where that idea came from.

I got a Martin fields on mine i got 2 when i had the Milestone cost £18 :/ so thought sod this its going on this just cut it to fit.

what is best screen protector to go for

martin fields, zagg or sp p360

Martin Fields id say...the zagg is a pain in the ass to get on...u need the patience of a saint really...not only that it has an orange peel effect on the screen so isnt that smooth etc.

Ive ordered a boxwave anti glare screen protector...thanks to the friggin volcano i wont have it for at least a couple of weeks but i did get an email saying its been despatched from America. i had one on my BB Storm2 and it was perfect...nice and smooth and helped cut down the glare of the sun.

Yep, everything can be removed or replaced, and my gmail is working fine too. The orange apps aren't too bad, the only problem is the retarded internet app that sends you to an orange website that only works on blackberrys or something, but you can easily change it or download an alternate browser.

Of course, it would still be better to go for an unbranded handset for the simple reason that you get the updates earlier, but the branded handsets are far from gimped.

Hi Spawn, is the boxwave protector a universal screen protector that you need to cut it to size?

Take it these are not available in the UK?
