*** The official HTC One S thread ***

http://www.techstage.de/news/HTC-Se...date-fuer-aeltere-Android-Phones-1806391.html

Owners of older phones such as the One X One X One + or S are now asking: What about a software update to Sense 5 from? We interviewed HTC and get a response.

The good news: There will be an update. At least the owner of the above three smartphone models are "in the coming months" to get the flashing feed homescreen, through which messages from subscription based providers as well as from friends in the social networks in an attractive form.

Also, the new camera functions can be added to these models. This includes the automatic video editing solution Zoe, the kinds of photos and videos - such as a birthday party or a barbecue - cut to fit freely selectable music a 30-second video clip. This happens automatically if desired. First sample clips that we've seen make a good impression.

A complete update to Sense 5 is not that way. "Some functions [of Sense 5 nb. Editor] can not be obtained in the update," says HTC. What exactly we do not know unfortunately. Also lacking information on other models such as the V. One that this device was not explicitly mentioned, does not mean that there will be no update - but it's just not yet been confirmed.

Can't say that I am interested in sense 5 at all tbh, nothing really excited me about it and I think it looks rather ugly overall....

So far I haven't noticed much, if any difference :p

Although only on my second charge so far so will keep it on for a few more days and see.

What settings are you using? What sort of on screen time are you getting?

Anyone on talkmobile with the HTC One S?

Last few days my mobile internet has been really sketchy. It display the H but I can't connect to the internet via web browser or gmail.

My Wifi has also been pretty patchy on the phone.

Any ideas?

Dropped my phone today (without a case) and now have some marks on it :(, dropped from about waist height straight onto concrete (was bending over to move the car seat and it fell out of my pocket), landed on the screen so was dreading picking it up and turning it around to see a cracked screen but lucky enough the screen is still in mint condition, just have a bad chip on the top left and a few nicks on the sides/glossy black part :(

So diztronic TPU case is going on for good now plus it covers the marks so I won't see them now.

I had a 'moment' yesterday with mine taking it out of my pocket when my hands were frozen. No idea how i managed to catch it, reflexes ahoy!

Not been using it as much lately, other than just for sms/messenger etc.. You know, like an actual phone :p

Yeah the phone can be rather slippy at times!

So happy that my screen is still in perfect condition at least (held up really well! As it wasn't the smooth type of concrete but the bumpy/gritty kind!) TPU case has covered all the wee nicks, just hate the way it hides the minimal design etc. though :(

I use my device as more of an entertainment/media device rather than a "phone" :p

Slippy, but feels so god damn nice!

I've been at my PC far too much lately to need that :p Although i did go to london and back on the train yesterday but i forgot my charger so couldn't even watch the films i'd put on it

Indeed! The MAO finish is just superb, can't wait to get my hands on the htc "one" to see what it is like, anandtech have said that they found it to be much nicer (and they thought the one S was the best for perceived/build/design quality for 2012)

ouch! - feel your pain Nexus.

A good reason to get a new phone soon :)

So sorry Nexus to read about your mishap

Like Kona said maybe it's a catalyst you need to get a new phone as you've had the HOS for ages. From tomorrow MWC 2013 will be in full swing and you can have a look and plan for your next replacement! :)

My heart missed a beat as soon as I heard the noise and looked down! :( Biggest concern was the screen!

Lol, yeah just as the htc one is announced (well not long after :p)......... coincidence?!?! :D :p

Will still hold out till May any way, only 3 phones that I will be looking at; gs 4, htc one and X phone.

My phone isn't even a year old yet stoosh! :p

At least the screen survived! Which is a result. I thought you had the HOS for a lot longer! I wonder why???!! :p It isn't a coincidence HTC and a higher power want you to get a new phone :p

Good choices in regards to phones to wait for, all bring something to the table and are top quality!

Yeah still can't believe that the screen didn't get a single mark on it

Nope, got it on April 19th last year, 2 year contract too so will have to buy the next phone outright and see if I can sell my S to someone for around £150 (now that it isn't in perfect condition, I don't stand a chance of getting any more than that :p :()

Indeed, have a funny feeling that it is going to come down to the X phone (if it lives up to the rumours) or HTC one.

Of course if neither of the phones live up to my "expectations" :p then I shall hold onto the S for a bit longer! :p

Anyone get stuttering when listening to music? I'm using Spotify and Google Music. I know Spotify had an update saying they fixed, but I'm still getting it on both :(

Just background clicking from the radios, no stuttering. Maybe a full system reset/wipe? What about other internal storage content like videos?

just have a bad chip on the top left and a few nicks on the sides/glossy black part :(

Meh. Scratches, marks and dents buff out on raw metal. :p The plastic inner frame does chip easily but that's better than the screen taking damage. :)

I <3 the HOS design, the only possible improvement would be integrating the crappy antenna caps into the unibody... Just like the "One"!1!! A smaller version with 3 standard buttons would be EPIC!

Yeah, the phone doesn't really look too bad tbh (seen much worse!), only the chip on the top left is noticeable as well as a very tiny one below the glass screen, the other ones on the glossy sides aren't too bad.

Might use a black permanent marker to hide the bad chip :p

Can't stand the TPU case and the way it hides the design of the front :p so have the ROCK case back on and you can see the chip on the top left now as well as part of the wee scrapes/dents on the glossy parts.

Likewise! That is all they that they had to do, take the one S design

- integrate the antenna caps like the "one"
- have the camera lens flush with the rest of the phone like the one

The perfect design then!

You're a patient Man! :) I certainly couldn't hold onto a phone for much longer! :p

Let's hope the HTC One and or the "X" phone are not disappointing and live up to the hype! :D
