***The Official HTC One Thread***

I am patiently waiting for my HTC to arrive and I am planning to root and rom it. I am also planning to change the kernel as I need to manipulate the software keys.

One question I have is what should be installed first kernel or rom, or does it not matter.

I am looking at ARHD rom with bulletproof kernel if it helps.

Usually it depends on the ROM, but most ROMs bundle the stock kernel too, so I do ROM then kernel.

Im itching to drop my Nexus 4 for a HTC One, more so that there is leaks that HTC might be releasing an AOSP rom for all its devices. Just wondering what LTE bands does it have, been looking online without much luck. I really want to keep my next phone for around 2 years and I'm hoping to get 4G but not sure which provider so would need something that runs on all the future 4g bands.

Must just be but that mockup Nexus did with the on screen buttons looks awful :o much prefer capacitive

Personally love on screen buttons, it more the battery life just isnt cutting it and the HTC One hardware is amazing. Personally feel the 2 button layout is just stupid, I'm so used to a multi-tasking button, even going back to something like S2 where you hold the button to multi-task is just so slow.

Yes perhaps two button layout is naff but I think the look of the on screen buttons is really awful, how it transitions from the wallpaper to just a black bar. Not to mention it's stealing precious screen real estate :p might look better on a black One rather than silver

I wouldn't give up Sense 5 now. Things like the camera, email client, browser, Zone highlights etc are great.

When the menu button issue is sorted it will be even better.

Just got my HTC one out of pocket and the thing was completely unresponsive.. Screen was black, couldn't wake it, holding power button did nothing. Had to do the power button and lower volume to reset. Another annoying issue seems to be arising.

Missus got her HTC One yesterday, have to say Im firmly in the lumia 920 WP8 camp, but if I was to go back to droid, it would be with this phone, Im very impressed, looks good, sense has improved so much and all in all a very slick package. It is good to see other manufacturers stepping up to the S4 challenge, HTC deserve some credit for this one...

I agree phone is immense but not impressed with the quality control on the handsets though

Screen being raised top and bottom so there's a lip/edge and top of case has a gap.

I think you have to be very lucky to get a complete perfect one. trouble is if you send back to htc your without a phone for a week or so.

Is the battery life not that great then?

Is the battery life not that great then?

At first it was totally useless since the 4.2.2 update its ok I average 3-4 hours screen on time but I want something closer to 5hours or more tbh. I guess I'm some what of a heavy user and my gf never has issues with it but I need a bit more.

Also its hard to avoid how beautiful the HTC One is, it looks amazing, feels amazing, perfect screen (a bit hit and miss thou from what I have seen), and has some good battery life from what I have seen here and XDA.

My number still hasn't been ported over from Orange to EE and it's been about 52 hours now so not really had much of a play with the phone, but from what I've experienced of thus far, it's an absolute corker!

Love the metal body and it feels stunning in the hand. Really really like the screen too.

Battery life is pretty damn good too!

Was out for a walk today with my son and took quite a few photos here and there, few with zoe switched on, wasnt until I got back home and I went through the gallery I noticed it makes up a little movie, pretty impressed with it tbh will have to venture a little more, is it a totally automated process of what it chooses and when?

Just got mine replaced today due to some dust under the screen (brand new phone on O2 refresh, sealed box etc) no idea how it left the factory like that! New phone is perfect - excellent phone far better than my iPhone IMO.

Also a little shout for the O2 refresh contracts - what a great idea!
