*** The official HTC One X thread ***

@stoosh

Yeah, that is another reason why I want a nexus device, updates! TBF if HTC do provide the JB update to the S this month then I will be pretty happy with that as the only other phones to receive the update around the same time will be the X and GS 3 (excluding the one X+ and GS 3 LTE and note II as they already have JB). I was pretty ****** with HTC for the last update though as you are probably aware of :p Essentially they released the update months ago for Europe devices and the UK devices took forever to get the update, branded phones actually got the updates before sim free devices

Is there any phone that you haven't had? :p :D Think you have had more phones than Robbo  :p

The One S will fly when it gets JB Mate, it's going to be awesome and that S4 chip is really going to shine!

HTC have been really lax of late when it comes to the updating both the HOS and HOX in the UK and I read your posts and could really understand your frustration. There's nothing worse than waiting for an update which has been floating around elsewhere in Europe and HTC have no explanation why as it hasn't hit the UK.

I went through exactly the same frustration with the ICS update on my S2, the branded phones got the update first and for some reason Samsung released ICS last on the sim free S2. I was so annoyed I and other people absolutely trashed Samsung UK on Twitter!

Trust me I've slowed down when it comes to buying phones, my bank balance can't handle it and I've got used to using and owning one phone at a time!

Having said that I do have my eye on the HOX+, Padfone 2, and maybe the new Nexus if the memory is big enough!

Yeah after reading kona's post about his JB GS 3 compared to GS 3 on ICS, I am now really looking forward to it :D HTC said that they will start seeding the update this month, not going to be holding my breath though! :p Guessing November is when will see the JB update.....

Ah yeah, remember reading something about that in the GS 2 thread, most infuriating that!

No RAZR HD!?!?! :p

With Sense 4+ on board along with JB and Project Butter and that awesome S4 chip the HOS will absolutely fly. Let's hope that HTC stay true to their word and actually start seeding the update soon.

Infact I might buy another HOS and use it as my back up as I am currently without a decent phone as I sold my S3 and T Mobile have delayed the delivery of my S3 LTE so I have had to buy an Huawei Ascend G300 get it unlocked, root it and install a custom Rom!

That'll teach me to be greedy when it comes to phones eh? LOL!

I vowed never to buy another Motorola again after the most torrid time I had with the Motorola Milestone as the support was non existent in the UK and the phone sucked.

I'm sure that Motorola have improved over the year but I haven't really factored in any phones made by them!

What's so good about the RAZR HD Mate?

- SAMOLED 4.7" 720P screen
- SD slot and 12GB internal storage
- 8 MP camera (from what I have seen of the RAZR M and some camera shots from the RAZR HD, it looks pretty good, although I think the GS 3 and S/X are still better)
- S4 dual
- 2530 mAh battery
- the back looks great and the front is all right looking
- Great build quality and probably very durable due to the good construction of it, has a Kevlar back :D
- LTE supported too

And one other reason for Richy:

- good signal

:p

And I was a bit hesistant about the software/updates but after reading this, it has filled me with some hope:

http://blog.gsmarena.com/heres-how-google-plans-to-get-motorola-out-of-the-mud/

Lets hope that last part is true :)

I think the software looks great as well, sticks very close to stock android, in fact all the basic applications like calendar, dialer etc. are pretty much stock.

I think it and the XL (and possibly the LG nexus, depending on camera, storage, battery etc. along with the X+ [despite it being tegra 3 grrrr......]) are the best all round phones you can get and will be for a good while and if size isn't an issue, the note II.

EDIT:

and the GS 3 LTE model.

Ha - they'd better send me one to test before we announce on signal reception :D

Razr i I currently run is pretty close to stock. I'm guessing Google have restrained Motorola from their usual molesting the OS. Hopefully now under Google control things have changed. Time will tell.

Not the best write up ever (plus I don't agree with some of the stuff he has put there........), but at least it will give you some idea as to what you can expect from jellybean/sense on the X:

http://www.neowin.net/news/htc-sense-4-review-how-it-should-have-been-from-the-start

Battery life should be pretty damn good for you guys now.

They have brought a lot of nice tweaks to sense, which aren't in stock JB afaik.

Shame that HTC appear to have killed of the new notification system though  I wonder if it might only work on some applications, just doesn't make sense to not include what is one of the biggest changes in JB....but then again it is HTC :p

I have an original one x with latest insert coin jelly Bean rom and firmware. It all runs really well and no lag anywhere. I could easily see myself keeping this phone for a few years without thinking I need to upgrade.

That makes me want to go through the pain of having to do all the stuff to put JB on it right now. Shame I don't have a few hours to spare!

Been running JB for the last week or 2 and it's fantastic!

Deffo worth the install there's a tool on XDA that makes it a swift to relock, update firmware, update hboot and unlock again.

Battery has improved, I'm finding with my relatively low usage I come home with 70% battery still left, unplugging at 8am with wifi on for an hour, then 3G all day long, with listening to music for about 30 minutes, checking my mail, checking Facebook and XDA, and bit of calls and sms.

It'll only get better when we have custom kernels when sources are out but so far it's been decent enough! It charge's faster as well I think.

Love the new events gallery, and general fact that we can integrate facebook gallery as well.

Always loved the HTC email client it's one of the best for exchange. Gmail 4.2 is a bless as well with pinch to zoom.

I think Beats Audio now sounds better than before and actually quite decent on my non beats headphones.

All in all it's good! Far better than TouchWiz for usability for useful widgets. I've desensed mine as I prefer Apex Launcher but still maintains some of the useful non rosie features.

Not sure yet.

Very happy with my S currently, especially since the last update and we are suppose to be getting JB this month, so I will see what the new nexus device(s) bring and what happens with JB on the S.

The only thing, which I want over my S is a bigger screen :p Happy with the hardware, software and design/build, plus I have no problems with it.

I really like the note II, but unfortunately I think the size will be just too big for me (still have yet to see it in "real life")

Essentially will come down to me keeping the S or moving to a nexus device or the RAZR HD (although don't like the look of the front), but I won't be moving to either of those devices until price drops. Guessing they will be £500+ sim free.

Had a play with the Note 2 and even I'm tempted to move away from HTC! The big screen is a joy to use, it's not that big compared to the HOX well it is but it fits better in the hand compared to the OG Note.

Stylus is a bliss to use as well, but one thing is Sense that is keeping me tied in. The email client, and such. Also SLCD2 is much better than AMOLED but the newer AMOLED screen on the GNote2 isn't bad at all. Sure after a few days of usage one would get use to the screen.

I think it's a good device, only pluses over the HOX/HOX+ is probably the bigger screen, stylus, battery life without a doubt, audio quality, good multi tasking with the dual view, that's all I can think off.

One S/X/X+ probably has the better UI. X has the better screen generally, and camera's on both are probably better than N2 but video recording is probably better on the N2.

Tough decision, especially with Sony due to release a 5" phone soon with a 1080p display and rumoured HTC DLX with 1080p as well!

Likewise, I love sense V4 and it is the best when it comes to the friends/social integration, mail (personally don't use this though), camera, gallery app etc. (although from what I have seen so far, the note II gallery/camera app looks superb and has built in editing features and best of all, slow motion recording , quality looks a lot better than the S/X too)

I really do prefer sense over everything else on stock android etc. just wish HTC would have a stock ICS/JB theme (or as an option at least) throughout instead of the white/black and blue/green etc.

I love the IPS screen of the X too, much better in a lot of areas, mainly displaying photos, web browsing etc. but overall I would prefer to have SAMOLED as I need my pitch blacks :p, slightly more vibrant colours all round, which I prefer for videos and especially cartoons/animated films. The X IPS display is the first LCD based screen that I have actually really been impressed with, always found other LCD based screens including LG's IPS screens to be pretty poor in either viewing angles, washed out looking colours, poor view-ability in sunlight.

Good to hear that the audio has improved as well, wonder if the S will also improve....

This update has really made the X a lot better by the sounds of it and what it should have been from the start.

well my wifes one x which has the correct cid for JB has developed a screen fault :( sometimes wont wake up from standby until power button is pressed about 5 times and has also got artifacts over the screen making it impossible to read, it also sometimes comes out of standby with a grey screen with progressing black lines on it.

Its only happening once and a while but still not right, the problem is I bought it as refurb which only came with 60 days warranty, phone is mint and she really likes it, I can return it to them for refund as I doubt they will fix it or should I send to HTC for repair/ replacement?

I also put mine up on the bay to swap to a sim free and hopefully cid compatible one, which sold on sunday so thats us both going to be without phones.....

Pretty good price that!

Depends on what phone you currently have and what is important to you?

I would rather get the XL (think it isn't too much dearer?) or the new one X+, but it will probably cost quite a bit more.

I'm coming from a Desire HD and I'm not really interested in 4g (believe there will be a massive premium on it for at least the next 12 months). Really just need a phone for web browsing at work/on the go. I know that I much prefer the screen of the hox over the s3 but was bit worried about what I've read about the battery life.

I'm actually quite happy with my DHD but the battery life is atrocious, I mean 2 hours screen time just web browsing before it is dead. The hox must out stay that, surely. And for the price I'm getting it for, with it sounding like a good price, I'm thinking to go for it!

The one X nukes the desire HD from orbit! :p :D

Battery is better, but isn't great when compared to the S, gS 3 etc. however, it has supposedly improved by a good bit with jellybean.

Go for it! :) It is a great phone and has really been improved with jellybean on it and everything is much improved over the DHD.

Thanks dude, went for it. Should have it on Thursday. Coupling it with a 30 day contact from virgin, 12 quid for 150 mins (only ever used 200 max), unlimited texts and truly unlimited data (very important as I regularly use 3gb+).
