**** The Official Huawei P20 Thread ****

Is it me or is wifi range on this poor relative to other phones? I thought I fixed it turning wifi+ off but still doesn't quite reach as far as my tablet/old phone..

It's about the same as my p9.
Frustratingly it just seems to stop at my bed at other corner of my house... (so it's a minor difference from my tablet but enough to be annoying..)

Ah well I've been meaning to install a 2nd hub/booster anyway

So tomorrow is the big battery test....

Over 3 hours of train travel with poor signal and heavy use including Spotify etc.....combined with lots of camera shots etc it's a demanding day. The pixel 2xl just about survived but the s9+ always ran out of juice before I got home....

Fingers crossed :)

The case that came with it doesn't protect the camera. The camera protrudes more than the case thickness, so when you put it down flat is sits on the camera. Might have to get another case.

Agreed when I tried it on

The spigen case is slightly thicker but *only just* parallel with the camera if that concerns you.

My last phone I didn't use a case for 2.5 years and was fine so here is hoping it will be OK. I am. Slightly worried as there's 3 cameras though!

Having had a multitude of Huawei phones including the Mate 10 I can confirm that the WiFi range is quite poor compared to other phones.

Oddly my huawei m3 tablet manages fine (or at least reaches the other side of the house in my bungalow home..which is a good few brick walls+distance worth).

Its not too bad, it's just the corner of the room where my bed is :x

No issues with WiFi, which I had plenty with my old iPhone 6s - router is only really the other side of a wall in my room.

Signal also seems much better, although I've made a switch to O2 so maybe that's the main difference - Although according to O2 my local mast is currently broken and being worked on, yet I'm still receiving a better signal than I ever have.

Loving the phone. Case arriving from Amazon today, nothing spectacular. I will probably end up getting the Spigen Rugged Armour Case when in stock.. Also tempted by the Huawei flip cover too.

So far my thoughts

Phone is good, camera is amazing.

However I cant help feeling disappointed coming from the Samsung S7 Edge, a phone two generations ago.

The screen isn't as high ppi, it doesnt have wireless charging and it appears to not work with my car stereo (well not so far)

So really for a phone which on paper costs way more than my Samsung S7 Edge, the only thing which seems to have improved is the camera. Everything else seems to be a step back.

Would be find for a £500 phone but not a £800 flagship phone IMO.

The only real criticism I would say is that looks oversharpened.

Are the screen comments based on what you can see, or arbitrary numbers? Just curious if it's notably worse, marginally worse, or just worse on paper?

TBH I can't see it bothering me. I've gone from a Z3 Compact to a OP3, with an order now in for one of these. I've haven't owned a top-end phone since the iPhone 5S. I'm just curious about how significant the difference actually is.

Issues with your car stereo, plus Android Auto comments elsewhere, plus reported Google Maps issues and the lack of HD Netflix etc. does concern me a bit.
