I did a store pick up for an IPhone 16 Pro Max on launch day and after a couple of days with it I want to return it because of the touch screen issues.

Will I be able to return it at the store I picked it up from or do I need to return it to the online apple store ?

I haven't had any touch screen issues.

However, I have now completely disable the camera control button on the side. Its position is bad and I've accidently pressed it a number of times while picking the phone up from my desk. Its too annoying and has to go.

The second weird thing is the rattle noise. If I tap on the back or front glass of the phone in the top 20% of the phone, I can hear a rattling noise inside the phone.

Is this rattling noise the tetra prism lens? I remember my galaxy S3 from back in the day had a lens that rattled and it was considered normal.

Any rattling in and around the camera area is usually the OIS

Mine rattles, but its the case, Spigen one with a metal camera surround that doesn't appear to be bonded to the case itself..

Not only apple. Everyone is. Where do you go from here?

If you can think of it, don’t share it

Flip phones aren’t the way to go. Those foldable ones they need to make it so you can’t see the crease - which we probably don’t have the technology for at the moment.

People have been saying this for about a decade now.

"Apple hasn't innovated at all rar rar rar".

No one has come out with anything special in that entire time. I don't want a folding phone. I pick up my phone and I want it to be there and go. I don't want to flip it open. I don't want to unfold it. They get faster, they get better cameras and they get new software features. Beyond that, my phone and everyone elses is fundamentally the same as it was 5 years ago.

FYI, the majority of folding phones (flip style to some extent too) have an 'outside' screen removing the need to always unfold it. You only unfold when you need a larger screen.

That was my understanding as well - the folding phone would have two screens - one on the front that does all your current phones things and a 2nd screen that unfolds that gives you a tablet in your hands for content consumption

Rumours are that Apple has created prototype folding phones but they'll never come to market until the crease is fixed

The issue isn't the crease, the main issue is the failure rate - they just don't last and are not very durable. Your average iPhone is still alive and kicking 6+ years later.

I'm no expert on phone batteries but as an EV driver we're told that constantly charging the car on rapid chargers wears out the battery faster so not having ultra fast charging on your phone might not be a bad thing

Same goes for any battery but it’s pittance to change a phone battery and most tend to upgrade before it’s an issue.

Single cell, or dual cell battery isn't really the same as a BEV with 100's or 1000's or cells though. Data from other devices doesn't relate directly in this case, fast charging phones will degrade the cell(s) much more quickly especially if topping and bottoming them, but should be avoided in most Li-ion packs anyhow.

And in 2027 (or before if any manufacturers take the lead) you'll just be able to have spare batteries to swap in an out like the good old days.

Slightly annoying that whilst my online order is still showing 15th to 22nd for delivery, the 2 nearest stores to me now have stock. I wish Apple would now email me saying that if I wanted to do so I could pick it up from whatever store as I would.

Not the biggest issue I've ever had but now I know there are some available 20 odd miles from me I want it dammit.

So quick update on my leather Torro case, the capture button non button area thingy is actually a weakpoint for the case and this bit has snapped when taking the case off, return has been accepted but just for people to be aware and extra careful with solid cases around that area as it's a thin piece which obviously can easily break.

My official apple one on my 13pro has done the same by the power and volume buttons. The leather is still intact but the plastic underneath is snapped.

That said, it took nearly 3 years to do it mind. The leather has large amount of ‘patina’ 3 years in.

I ordered one for collection tomorrow. Looks like a big restock everywhere.

I went white 256gb in the end.
